Taehyung sighs, steaming hot water trickling down his body, a wave of exhaustion flooding into his senses as he sways on his feet through the steam of the shower. He holds the shiny black tiles in front of him, palms stretching outwards, body bent at a slightly angle as he positions his head downwards so that his neck can feel the hot water.

Relieving the slight knot in his neck, Taehyung sighs once more before he stands straight, running a hand through his wet hair, back muscles flexing as he does so, forehead exposed. Taehyung shuts of the water, the only sound now is the soft drip of water falling from the showerhead to the shower floor.

With silence, Taehyung slides open his shower door, stepping out in all of his nude glory.

One of the perks of living alone is doing what you want, and often, Taehyung dressed himself in his room, not liking the steam from the shower clogging his senses for too long. Taehyung knows that steam can make a person dizzy and black out, and so, he prefers to be in a room with dry air while dressing himself.

He steps into his room, shivering a little as the water droplets begin to dry uncomfortably. Walking over to his towel, he picks it up and wraps it around his waist, stomach still on show. After that, he picks up yet another towel, drying his hair as he walks out of his room.

Taehyung slowly trails into the kitchen, in the mood for a cup of warm coffee. So he stands there, in his towel, waiting for his coffee to warm up, and when it does, he grabs a grey mug, quietly placing it on the counter, and pours his desired amount of coffee into the mug with silence.

As nice as it is, living alone also had its own ways of being bad. Sometimes, Taehyung wants to come home to his home lit alive with a warm glow, he wants to step into the place and immediately be hit with the smell of food and warmth from the heating, but like always, after a long day of work, Taehyung would come home to the dark, cold silence, ready, waiting to capture him for yet another night.

He drinks the coffee in big gulps, before walking back to his room to get dressed. It doesn't take him long to get dressed, donning a pair of grey sweatpants and black t-shirt. Hair messy and more fluffy since it is air drying, and not being slicked to the side, or being gelled to be bouncy and curly.

Taehyung then walks over to his office area of the penthouse, his desk located right in front of the large, floor to ceiling window. Taehyung stares at the sun setting, casting orange and yellow glows over the horizon, buildings shining, the sun becoming a semicircle in the sky.

Shoving his hands into his pockets, Taehyung turns around, the feeling of boredom over taking his mind - even though he knows he has plenty of work to do, every look at his laptop forces him to avoid sitting down and actually doing it.

Nevertheless, Taehyung does take it upon himself to sit down and at least try to complete it. Opening up a document that Jaehee has sent him, he begins to read it slowly. However, after ten minutes of staring at the screen blankly, rereading the same paragraph over and over again, Taehyung realised that it's not use. He is not going to get anywhere with the work he is supposed to complete.

Running a hand through his now dry hair, Taehyung groans a little, he shuts his laptop with a little slam, and stands up. There's nothing to do in his home, especially on days like this - but he does know that in an our or two, Jungkook is going to be coming over for the very first time.

And that brings Taehyung just about a little bit of comfort, because, at least for one night, he has something other to do than work for his company. And, at least for one night, he doesn't have to be alone for the entirety of the night.

Taehyung rubs his face a little, feeling tired but he forces himself to stay awake, not wanting to sleep through Jungkook's arrival. But still, the tiredness sways through his mind like waves upon a shore, and Taehyung can't help but flop down on to his sofa with an exhausted sigh. His eyes burn as he basks in the silence of his own home, and once more, his eye glance through the window, looking at the sun which is still setting.

Summer days were approaching, which means that the days get longer, the sun sets later but rises earlier. These days are the days to make the most memories, but something told Taehyung that the memories made for this summer wouldn't be memories that he'd want to remember for a long time.

He turns on his TV, selecting a random TV show from the guide, and allowing it to play. Taehyung doesn't take much notice into what is playing on the big screen in front of him, because he is too busy chasing his thoughts about everything that has happened in the last few months. True, nothing made sense about Park Jimin's case, but Taehyung chose to ignore it rather than dwelling on it.

And now, he's being forced to think about it by none other than Jeon Jungkook, his ex-husband.

Taehyung is cynical. Doesn't believe in the greater good. Believes that every human should depend on themselves, only themselves to reach their goals. He doesn't believe in the spirits, the manifestation - or any of that. But, it is moments like these, the moments of pure desperation that Taehyung's mind can't help but wonder: is fate bringing the two together again? Is the universe trying to tell Taehyung something, but he just can't figure it out?

At those thoughts, a knock on his door disturbs him, and he snaps back into reality.

Standing up in confusion, Taehyung quickly glances at the clock and sees that it's way too early for Jungkook to be here, or has he come over a little earlier than planned? He walks over to his front door and swings it open. Upon opening it, he sees that it's not Jungkook standing before him, but his assistant, Eunha. She's carrying a bright smile, and a bag of doughnuts.

"What are you doing here Eunha?" Taehyung sighs, stepping to the side to allow his assistant to come into his home. She smiles a little more brightly, "well, I just wanted to say thank you, at the meeting, you back handedly stood up for me and I'm grateful."

They both walk into Taehyung's living room area, and with his hands in his pockets, Taehyung shrugs, "there's no need to thank me. But that reason for coming over is not viable. What's the real reason you came over?" Taehyung cuts straight to the chase, leaving no room for faffing about. He's always been that type of person.

Eunha, knowing that she can not continue to act like she came over for a simple thank you, sighs, placing down the bag of doughnuts on his living room table, and then turns to face him, "I know that Jungkook is going to come over soon but I just wanted to talk to you."

Taehyung sits back down onto his sofa, and looks up to her, "about?" He merely questions, not sparing her another glance. Eunha groans, and snatches the remote Taehyung held out of his hands before switching the television off. His eyes swing up to her, asking her what her problem was.

"Oh for god's sake Taehyung! You know what I'm implying, don't make me say it out loud!" She says, her voice loud and stern, almost like Taehyung is her kid and she is telling him off for breaking something. "I don't have an idea, or a clue about what you're talking about," he says swiftly, before gracefully standing up and walking away without a look at Eunha.

Trailing after her boss, Eunha mentally feels like ripping her hair out. Why did he have to be so stubborn? She follows him all the way into his kitchen, and watches him make (probably his fifteenth) cup of coffee, before he drinks it, not sparing Eunha for a conversation.

Leaning on the counter opposite of Taehyung, Eunha begins to say, "you and Jungkook put together in one room, alone for hours will not work well together Taehyung, you know that. That's why you let him walk away, and I don't know for what reason, you ran after Jungkook."

Taehyung sips on his coffee slowly, "how do you know that?" Eunha stumbles on her words a bit before she says clearly, "from what you tell me-" she begins to say, but is cut off when Taehyung slams his mug down on the table, flinching, she remains silent while Taehyung presses the bridge of his nose together with two fingers.

"Do not make it out like I am still in love with Jungkook," he starts slowly. And darkly. "It's been five years, and the both of us have had time to move on, and as far as I am concerned I can only tell you so much so do not walk into my home and act like you know what's best for me Eunha," the spiteful words slip out before Taehyung can even comprehend what he is saying. And at the hurt look in Eunha's eyes, he sighs, closing his eyes for a brief moment before they flutter open once more.

"Besides, he has a boyfriend. The name is Mark," Taehyung adds, emphasising on Mark's name like it is a travesty to speak his name with an ounce of respect. Eunha sighs, "so he's moved on," she says, feeling a little sad for Taehyung who is never interested on moving on with his own love life, and instead, devoted his entire being in working and only working.

Taehyung shrugs, "it's been five years, who wouldn't have moved on?" He says, walking out before Eunha can even have the chance to slip out the word on her tongue: you.

Once more, she follows after him, "well, I think I've over stayed my welcome. I hope that whatever you and Jungkook are looking for, you find it before it's too late. I suggest emailing me the work you have to complete for tomorrow, I'll do it, considering that Jungkook is going to come over soon," and without another word, Eunha leaves Taehyung, leaving him back with his lonesome cave that he resides in.

He quickly emails Eunha the work, before grabbing the doughnuts and gratefully placing them in his small pantry.

By now, the sun has set, only leaving a few small traces of orange and pink behind. Blue overtakes the sky, the colours gradually becoming more darker and saturated as the seconds tick by quickly. Taehyung walks into his room, shutting the windows and closing the blinds before walking back into his living room area.

He switches on all of the lights, his home now glowing with the bright artificial golden lights, his room more brighter than when the sun would be used as a light source. As well as that, he turns on the heating so that his home can be warm for when Jungkook arrives.

Taehyung sits back down onto his sofa, pulling a blanket onto his lap as he focuses on the screen in front of him. He didn't even notice how many episodes flew by, and with a sigh he returns to the episode he watched last, and continued from there. But, as much as he tries too, Taehyung can't stop thinking about Jungkook.

He looks so different now. More mature, more quiet and definitely, by miles, more happier and content with his life than Taehyung.

The door knocks again, and this time, Taehyung knows it's Jungkook. He springs up from his sofa, quickly walking over to the door.

"Hey Taehyung," Jungkook greets as soon as he sees the older male. Taehyung smiles a little, but Jungkook clearly knows that the smile doesn't reach his eyes. Taehyung steps to the side, and Jungkook walks in. The smell of Jungkook's perfume hits Taehyung's nostrils, and the scent is so beautiful it almost makes Taehyung close his eyes in bliss.

"Just walk right in to the living room area," Taehyung says, voice low as he shuts his door, locking it. Jungkook nods, and walks into Taehyung's living room, looking all around him, taking key features of Taehyung's penthouse and noting them down mentally. Just like his office, Taehyung's home lacks any love and personality. In fact, it shouldn't even be called a home, what with the grey walls, and mundane furniture.

How does Taehyung live like this?

"Take a seat," Taehyung motions, to which Jungkook sits down on one of the armchairs placed near the sofa. Taehyung also sits down on the sofa, his side profile facing the younger.

Jungkook's heart thuds involuntarily as his scans Taehyung's face. From his tan skin to his jawline to his perfect nose. Fluffy black hair and wearing natural comfortable clothing, Jungkook is reminded of the days where he and Taehyung would shower and cuddle up on the sofa of their shared apartment.

Shaking those thoughts out of his head, Jungkook clears his throat, catching Taehyung's attention. Taehyung speaks up first, "would you like anything to eat or drink?" Jungkook says no before he begins to say, "isn't it crazy how we met under these circumstances?"

Taehyung shrugs, not really giving much conversation to Jungkook, his eyes focused on his television screen that is paused. Jungkook breaths in deeply, "maybe I will have a drink, d'you have any red wine?" Taehyung nods, standing up, motioning with his two fingers for Jungkook to follow. Just like Eunha,

They both walk into the kitchen, and Jungkook watches, standing awkwardly as Taehyung brings out two large wine glasses, pouring them each a large and hefty glass of wine. Handing one to Jungkook, the younger smiles gratefully and takes a little sip before placing the glass down.

"So where do we start?" Taehyung asks, facing Jungkook. Jungkook opens his mouth to say something but refrains from doing so, Taehyung notices this when Jungkook's lips clamp shut in a thin line, pupils dilating in thought. Taehyung sighs, "Jungkook," he begins, drawing Jungkook's attention to his face, "if we want to go anywhere with trying to figure out this case ourselves we have to be comfortable with each other. Don't fret, speak your mind Jungkook."

God, the way Jungkook's name rolls off of Taehyung's tongue, his slight Korean accent still visible in his speech. Jungkook's stomach lurches, but once more, he chooses to ignore this and nods, "you're right, we have to be able to dish out every single idea, long shot or not, we have to get somewhere."

Agreeing, Taehyung asks once more, "where do we begin?"

"D'you have a place where we can sit down, and preferably, take notes?" Taehyung nods, and leads them both to his desk, bringing out a fold up chair for himself to sit on, giving Jungkook the comfier chair. Jungkook smiles, thanking Taehyung before he sits down.

Taehyung opens his laptop, opening an empty word document. Jungkook begins to speak first, "I say that we start at a square one, that way, if all comes to worst, we have something to fall back on. I personally believe that our square one is finding out the context as to how our names were added to Jimin's emergency contact list."

"Mmh," Taehyung makes a noise of approval while typing this down and then adds, "as well as that, we need to find people who know Jimin, and knew him through the years too." Jungkook doesn't say anything, until he asks, "maybe we can ask his neighbours?" Taehyung shakes his head, "police are going to be there all the time..it's a crime scene Jungkook. We could get in trouble for interfering with a crime scene."

Already at a block, the two are silent, trying to figure out a way to get into Jimin's life, without Jimin. It is proving to be very difficult, especially since both Taehyung and Jungkook had no idea about the life that Jimin had been living until now. Even then, all that they know is that Jimin is missing.

Jungkook's mind then flashes with a thought, "maybe, and I'm only saying this if it works," he starts, looking at Taehyung who turns to the side slightly to face Jungkook, "maybe we can go to a government official, you're bound to have one as a contact, considering how big of a company you hold. We can get Jimin's folder which tells us his legal life he's been living. And from that, we can see who his emergency contact was before us."

Taehyung grins slightly, "you're right! And then we get their information and ask them about Jimin. They're bound to know things about Jimin, especially if they're listed as a contact...the only thing is, I don't know how I'm supposed to randomly contact a government official and ask for information."

Jungkook's shoulders slump at the thought of this plan not working, "maybe we need more people helping us," he begins softly. Taehyung frowns, immediately shaking his head, fluffy locks bouncing, "we can't risk getting more people in trouble," he says. Jungkook replies with, "yeah but we need resources, ideas and more opinions on this. The more people, the better."

"Yeah? But who should we contact, we need trustworthy people."

Jungkook stands up, switching his phone on and calling someone, "Namjoon? Yeah it's Jungkook, I need you to do me a favour and come over to this address, I'll text it to you," turning to Taehyung after cutting the call Jungkook says, "tell the people at your desk to allow Namjoon and one more person to come up. I imagine the trustworthy people you are going to call can come up without question," he says.

Taehyung only stares at Jungkook, knowing that he can't fight the stubborn male in front of him.

Half an hour later, Namjoon, Rosé, Eunha and Hoseok sit with perplexed looks on their faces at the words that they hear from Taehyung and Jungkook.

"Let me get this straight," Rosé starts, leaning forward. Jungkook knows that she's about to prove a point, with the way her shoulders were straight, legs crossed over the other, mouth in a tight line. "You want us to help you find Jimin. Us who has nothing to do with the case and has no connection to Park Jimin at all?"

Jungkook tilts his head to the side, "to be honest yes, Taehyung and I could do with all the help. And wasn't it you who said to me that I shouldn't sit around and wait? Well I'm not sitting around and I'm not waiting," Jungkook finishes with a shrug. Before Rosé can reply, Namjoon speaks up.

"But wouldn't we be interfering with the case? That could get us into a whole load of trouble Jungkook," he says, glancing at Taehyung who is looking at him with a slight glare. Taehyung takes a deep breath, "yes, but that's only if we're caught. Listen, we called you guys over, not because we want you to risk the exposure, lose your jobs and whatnot–"

"Easy for you to say," Rosé snorts, glaring at Taehyung. Taehyung stares at her with a glint in his eyes, "is there a problem?" She snorts once more, raising her hands in exasperation, "you literally own a worldwide company and you're worrying about losing your job?"

Taehyung chuckles darkly, "sweetheart," he purrs, his voice surprisingly smooth and flirtatious, "who said I'm worrying about my own job? I know I can get myself out of trouble if I wanted too – but," he emphasises when he sees Namjoon open his mouth to interrupt, Namjoon's mouth clamps shut, "that also means, if you guys are willing to help me and Jungkook," he motions to Jungkook who smiles a little when the people around the room look at the younger, "that means, I can also get you guys out of trouble when needed."

Rosé fidgets with her fingers, and Jungkook can see that she's clearly trying to decide, her brain in two minds. He just hopes that she chooses to help them. Looking over to Namjoon, Jungkook sees that the large male is in fact, deep in thought, but after a minute or so, he smiles, making eye contact with Jungkook. A rising feeling of hope flutters in Jungkook's stomach.

"I'm in," Namjoon says, catching Taehyung's attention, "I'm tired with working at the café, and I need to be intellectually challenged, so this case just might do the job." At Namjoon's words, Taehyung smiles, and reaches his palm outwards to shake Namjoon's hands. Namjoon returns the handshake, the two nodding like they have just confirmed a business deal.

Jungkook eyes shift from Taehyung to Eunha and Hoseok, he smiles when he sees Eunha looking directly back at him. Then he looks expectantly at Rosé, who feels his stare on her face. She meets his eyes and sighs, "look, I don't know. It's risky to get other people who have no link to him involved, but at the same time I can't sit back and watch you suffer without any help. I just don't know Jungkook."

Taehyung speaks up, "look, the only reason Jungkook called you is because he trusts you. He knows that you have a talent. Look," Taehyung motions towards Namjoon, "he called over Namjoon because Namjoon is clever, he's got the brains. And he also called you over because you know how to make connections and links to events with big big people. That can be a major help to us," Taehyung uses a softer tone on Rosé, different to his usual dark and low voice.

It's clear to Jungkook that Taehyung knows how to analyse and observe different people, knowing when to use the right attitude or tone to get what he wants, or to persuade people into giving him what he wants. And it doesn't help that Taehyung's charm also gives people this undying need to impress him, or to get a praise off of him – this is one of the reasons he works so well at being a CEO. He's prince charming.

After a while, Rosé sighs, not just a quiet one, but a deep and heavy sigh, almost like she's preparing herself for what she is going to say next, "I'll help you two," she says, the strain in her voice clear, like she still doesn't think helping Taehyung and Jungkook is a good idea.

Jungkook smiles and leaps onto Rosé with a genuine chuckle, "I knew I could count on you!" He squeals, wrapping his arms and legs around Rosé. Rosé huffs, plastered on the sofa with a big bunny laying across her and she smiles, "I can't just leave you hanging, especially when I was the one who told you to do this in the first place," she laughs, before gently pushing Jungkook away from her so that she can get a moment to breathe by herself. Jungkook sits across from her, next to Taehyung, but he doesn't realise that his thighs are touching Taehyung's, as he continues to chat away to Rosé.

However, Taehyung notices immediately, and eyes Jungkook's thick thighs, the way they are pressing into Taehyung's slightly smaller ones, their legs flush against each other. He feels short sparkler tingles, like the sparks that would emit from a finished lighter on his thighs, but it doesn't last long because when his eyes glance back upwards, he sees Eunha smirking at him with Hoseok.

Clearing his throat, Taehyung quickly stands up and walks away from Jungkook, as far as he can possibly get, trying not the glance at the younger.

Then Jungkook says, "wait, E-eunha, is it?" Eunha nods, "yeah that's me, what can I do for you?" Jungkook smiles, "I am just wondering, are you also in?"

Eunha takes in a deep breath, her smile faltering for a moment as she says, "I also do not know. I told Taehyung when I first started working for him that I never want to get involved with his out of work affairs, especially if it puts me and my family at risk of being thrown into the crazed eyes of the public," Eunha glances at Taehyung who is staring out of the window at the New York skyline, but still listening to Jungkook's conversation with Eunha.

"But, just like Rosé, I can't just leave Taehyung. He's my best friend, I've known him for so long, I know how to deal with him when he's to stressed that he's unable to blink," she laughs, and Jungkook forces out a chuckle, smiling but it doesn't reach his eyes.

Truth be told, his heart panged uncomfortably at her words, and his ears warmed up a bit. Eunha is Taehyung's best friend. She knows more about him than Jungkook does. It made Jungkook think, what if. What if Jungkook was in Eunha's place? Would he still be married to the love of his life? Or would the two had listened to fate and gone their own ways regardless of how it happened?

"I just don't want my kids to be endangered if the worst was to happen," Eunha starts. Jungkook nods, "that's completely understandable Eunha. Everyone has valid reasons as to why they don't want to help. And that's completely fine," Jungkook reassures. The room falls silent, and at that, Jungkook stands up.

"I'm just going to get a drink," he says with a soft voice, and heads into Taehyung's kitchen.

Taehyung turns around, and watches as Jungkook hastily leaves the living room. With a sigh, he follows Jungkook. He sees Jungkook drinking some more of the red wine, but this time, he's gulping it down like there's no tomorrow, straight from the bottle. Taehyung heads over to Jungkook, gently prying it from his fingers, "easy there," he whispers, knowing how drunk Jungkook could get.

Jungkook groans of protest, latching onto the bottle tighter. "I know that this is taking longer than expected but baby steps Jungkook," Taehyung whispers, one hand reaching up to stroke Jungkook's hair.

He doesn't know why he's doing it. He doesn't know why he's standing this close too Jungkook. But he knows that it's too close. And yet, be doesn't step away. Taehyung stares down at Jungkook, he's close enough to see the specks of hazel in those doe eyes, the mole below his lip that Taehyung used to kiss teasingly.

A wave of memories hit Jungkook. Maybe along with the amount of red wine in his system, but suddenly, he's purring in satisfaction at the feeling of Taehyung's hands anywhere on his body.

Jungkook's eyes sparkle as he's looking up to Taehyung and suddenly he's back to where he was five years ago. Lovesick and young. He has always loved those dark eyes of Taehyung's. They held stories, happiness and a time where there could be nothing done but smile.

Taehyung takes the bottle out of Jungkook's hands and places it on the counter before he steps away, clearing his throat. No matter how good it feels to be close to Jungkook, he can't succumb to the past. Jungkook is so much more happier without Taehyung – he knows that.

"Mmh T–" Jungkook is about to step closer to Taehyung, but halts when he sees Eunha standing at the doorway. He pauses, and allows Taehyung to turn around, "Eunha? Is there anything I can get you?" He asks, his voice, this time, not gentle, not a whisper but a loud question.

Eunha shakes her head, "no no, I just wanted to tell you that I made my decision. I now know that the best thing to do, is to help you. Taehyung you're my best friend, and I'll do anything if you need and ask for it," she says with a firm nod. Taehyung smiles, "thanks Eunha. What about Hoseok?"

"My brother feels the same way."

At these words, Jungkook speaks up, "I'm going to go back to Rosé and Namjoon, if you could excuse me," he squeezes past Eunha and walks into the living room, cheeks flushed.

Eunha smiles knowingly and steps forward. Taehyung, already knowing what she's about to say frowns and rolls his eyes. "I told you that you two alone couldn't end in something good," she says, picking up the bottle Jungkook drank from and sniffing it, before placing it back down.

Taehyung replies, "nothing happened Eunha, you saw that nothing happened," he points out, grabbing the bottle and pouring the remainder of it into two glasses before handing her one, and keeping one for himself. Eunha shrugs, "but what would have happened if Jungkook had not seen me?" She says, taking a large gulp.

"Nothing," he shrugs, drinking in small sips. Eunha finishes her drink, "well I better be off, it's really late and the kids have got school tomorrow which means I need to be the one to help them get ready," she sighs, placing the empty cup down.

Before she leaves, she turns back to Taehyung, "Tae," she starts, making Taehyung look up to her, "you and Jungkook have history, and that's why you can't seem to let go of each other. And before you say anything, I see the way you look at each other. The two of you, you didn't end badly – as much as you'd like to say you did; you didn't end because one of you lost love for the other, you lost what you had for the sake of Jungkook's happiness but not once did you think of what you wanted Taehyung, what would make you happy. Jungkook's moved on, whether you like it or not, so you have to be careful with the way you act around Jungkook because he's got a whole other life with someone else to live now."

Eunha speaks no longer, and walks away, not waiting for Taehyung to reply, leaving him with the words of wisdom she had just spoke.

By the time everybody has left, it's just a slightly tipsy Jungkook swaying back and forth in his seat, watching Taehyung with hooded eyes. Watching as the older hastily tidies his house, pacing back and forth.

"T-taehyung," Jungkook hiccups, catching Taehyung's attention. The older glances at Jungkook from his desk, "yes ba- I mean, Jungkook," he corrects himself, walking across his desk over to Jungkook. Jungkook hiccups once more, "I want food," he moans, latching on to Taehyung's shirt. Taehyung looks down at Jungkook's tattooed fists on his shirt, and then back to the younger's twinkling eyes.

"I should really get you home," Taehyung murmurs gently, taking a hold of Jungkook's hands, "where's your phone, I'll call Mark." Jungkook shakes his head, "Mark's at work, he won't people to come pick me up," he replies, hands heating up as he eyes Taehyung's large ones on his slightly smaller ones.

Taehyung sighs, and pulls Jungkook to stand up. Unwillingly, the younger stands up, now swaying a little bit more on his feet. "Food," Jungkook whispers, burying his nose into Taehyung's neck, deeply inhaling.

Stiffening up, Taehyung tenses deeply, body locked, "I...J-jungkook, I'll get you some food, just come and drink some water." Jungkook shakes his head, "no," his voice comes out muffled as he snuggles in closer to Taehyung, loving the faint smell of cologne, even though he knows Taehyung's showered, "I'm comfortable like this," he says, his voice in little syllables.

"Come on Jungkook," Taehyung whispers, pushing Jungkook back a little bit, but keeping him close enough so that Jungkook doesn't whine. Taking Jungkook's hand, he walks in too his kitchen, Jungkook following close behind him.

Jungkook is sober enough to know what he's doing.

He eyes his intertwined hands with Taehyung's, chest tightening as his throat dries up, clogging up as he's hit with so many memories. His mind forcing him to think of the times where he and Taehyung were good. When he and Taehyung were young and happy together, believing that they had a forever.

Jungkook just wants one more moment with Taehyung. One more time to feel his hands on his, the soft feel of his skin, like ice cream. But his hands were warm, warm like the air on a sunny day. Taehyung reminds Jungkook of dawn, the way the sun can come up even through the darkest of nights, and yet, all at the same time, Taehyung is the night. The blank, starless sky in the dead of the night, two, maybe three am in the morning, where not even the smallest of creatures make a sound.

No later than ten minutes, Jungkook is seated in Taehyung's passenger seat, looking out of the window as street lights and cars zoom by. The first few drops of rain hits the car windows in soft pitter patters, before they get heavier and heavier, starting to smash against the windows, the only sound in the car was the soft grumble of the engine and the radio playing a gentle melody in the back..

Taehyung's sole focus is on driving, and not on the man beside him. Gripping the steering wheel tightly, Taehyung's eyes narrow as he stares out at the road in front of him. But every so often, he casts a side look at Jungkook, who's staring out of his own window, looking at the singular raindrops. Taehyung can't help himself, but a small smile dances playfully on his lips.

Jungkook sighs, his breath causing a little mist on the window, and with his pinky, he draws a little smiley face before he rubs it out, looking at the rain drops which are running down the window. Now, because of the rain, the lights of many cars and lamps were merely just a simple blur in the reflection of the water on the window.

In no time, Taehyung reaches Jungkook's house, and parks up as slow as he can. Suddenly wishing that he had told Jungkook to stay over instead of dropping him off home, Taehyung finishes parking up and turns off his car, looking at Jungkook, who's making no move to step out of Taehyung's car.

Taehyung sighs, "it makes you think doesn't it," he begins, looking straight forward at the endless road, before he looks back at Jungkook. "It makes you think about what?" Jungkook asks voice almost a whisper, as if he doesn't want anyone else in the world to hear this conversation with Taehyung.

"It makes you think about all the what ifs. All the possibilities that could have been if I didn't mess up so badly in the past," Taehyung runs his fingers through his fluffy locks, and Jungkook simply sighs at his sad words.

When Jungkook doesn't say anything in reply to Taehyung, the older then adds, "what if I was driving the both of us home, would it be me tucking you into bed right now? Or, regardless of what happened in the past, would you be with someone else?" Jungkook sighs once more, "Taehyung," he whispers, and when Taehyung doesn't look at him, Jungkook slowly reaches out with shaky fingers, cupping Taehyung's jaw with his soft hands, forcing Taehyung to look at him.

"It's so easy to get lost in all the possibilities that could have been, no, should have been. But...it's too late now...even if we wish to get something out of this, the world is too sick to give it to us the way we want. So...we just have to suck it up, because at the end of the day, it will always be too late."

"Goodnight Taehyung," Jungkook whispers, before he unlocks the car door, and heads up to his house without another glance. Taehyung watches Jungkook's back, but then sighs, "it's never too late Jungkook," he speaks in the emptiness of his own car.

And then he begins to drive away.

Jungkook turns around just in time, standing at the door of his house, watching as Taehyung's car disappears down the road, and the night is silent once more. He sighs, "it's always too late Taehyung. Always."
