"Welcome, Wooyoung." Dr Anders smiles and motions for him to sit. "How are you today?"
"I'm good, thank you." He says, twisting his lips to the side and shifting in place nervously.
The doctor gives him a kind smile and relaxes into her chair. "There's no need to be nervous. We are just going to chat."
Wooyoung nods a couple of times.
"How have things been since I last saw you?"
"Good, really good." He says, managing a small smile. "It's actually been a really nice week."
*
"Hello, Yunho," Dr. Anders says as Yunho walks into her office and starts to make himself a cup of coffee. "How has your dominant side been behaving this past week?"
Yunho chuckles. "It's been annoying. The urge to take control and get into that head space was hard to resist."
Dr. Anders smiles as he settles in.
"Well you both seem to be doing better. Have there been any big changes? Maybe a new development or something good that happened?"
Yunho smiles to himself. "Not yet. But hopefully soon."
*
"Tell me about it."
Wooyoung shifts in place again before speaking. "Yunho's been really attentive. Not that he wasn't always, but it just feels a little different."
"Different how?"
"I don't really know how to describe it... but maybe like a wall has broken down between us?"
Dr Anders nods a couple of times. "That wall being Hyunjin?"
*
"What event might happen?" The doctor asks politely.
"I'm going to ask Woo to marry me," Yunho answers.
"Really? That's a big step Yunho."
"I know," Yunho says. "But I have never in my life wanted this. After everything with Hyunjin, I realized that I can't imagine a life without Wooyoung. I have never been surer about something in my life."
*
"Maybe? I don't know..." Wooyoung looks down at his lap. An uncomfortable tightness starts to build in his chest...
It hurt. And it was something he's worked so hard to keep at bay, because with that pain comes... other memories...
"Have you been writing your letters?"
The doctor's voice snaps him out of his spiral and he's able to nod. "I have. One every day."
*
"Well I am very happy for you then," Dr. Anders starts. "Now tell me, have you noticed a change in your relationship with Wooyoung without your titles?"
"Yes, actually!" Yunho says.
"Good. What have you noticed?"
Yunho thinks on where to start. "I have noticed he is a bit calmer. We are hanging out with our friends more and trying to communicate better. He doesn't have as many nightmares, either. Maybe three over the past week?"
*
"Would you like to share any of them with me?"
"No... Not yet at least, if that's okay." Wooyoung shrinks into himself a little.
"Of course. They are your private letters. Can you tell me how writing them makes you feel?" Dr. Anders asks.
Wooyoung takes a moment to think. "Better when I'm done, like a small weight has been lifted. But it's really hard for me to get the words onto paper."
*
"How many nightmares does he usually have?" Dr. Anders asks concerned.
"Usually he had like at least two a night. And he won't admit that either. But over the past week I only counted three."
Dr. Anders smiles lightly. "That is an amazing improvement. Is there anything that has you concerned or worried?"
Yunho thinks hard. Not sure if he should say anything.
*
"What's hard about it? Is it just finding to words? Or something else?"
Wooyoung's eyes fall to the ground again. He knows it's something else, but...
"It's... the words are hard. They want to stay locked away in my mind."
"I understand. Admitting these things is scary for anyone, and that's what makes it challenging. But the more you do it, the easier it will become."
*
"You can tell me anything, Yunho," the doctor reassures him.
"I'm just... scared. We made a lot of... I wouldn't say mistakes but... all of the issues we had with Hyunjin, and Wooyoung deciding to join the BDSM community because of me, I just feel like even though he loves me, he is still going to leave me. That it won't be enough to keep him with me."
"It's normal to feel that way," Dr. Anders says. "But you need to remember he loved you despite Hyunjin and the trauma that came from it. He loves you very much Yunho."
*
"I hope so." Wooyoung turns his head to look out the window. "I love him. And I want to be honest with him."
"You say that as if you're not." Dr Anders says calmly.
Wooyoung continues to stare outside for a long moment, working to reign in the voices in his head.
"You can be honest with me too, Wooyoung. You can tell me anything."
*
"But he even said last week that loving me wasn't enough. That he needed something and I don't know what that is," Yunho says sadly.
Dr. Anders is quiet for a moment. "What would you do if he did leave you?"
Yunho gapes at her with teary eyes. "If he decided to leave me, I would let him. But he will always have a home here. With me."
*
"I don't have anything else I need to say." Wooyoung says, his voice a little tight.
Dr. Anders looks at him with a slight frown but doesn't push him. "Alright, is there anything else you'd like to talk about? Anything else about your relationship with Yunho?"
"Yunho is perfect, there's not much more I need to say. He is everything I never realized I need in life."
*
Dr. Anders nods her head. "I think we are done for the day, Yunho."
"Are we still on a ban?" He asks pulling a laugh from Dr. Anders.
"No but try to ease into it slower. Start with pet names again and being a little more aggressive. Maybe add some bondage in a few days. Just keep it light and ease back in."
Yunho nods his head. "Thank you. Same time next week?" He asks as he rises.
"Of course. See you in a week."
*
"I'm happy to hear you say that. Maybe try to focus on that feeling in some of your letters, too." Dr. Anders says with a smile.
"I think I can do that."
"Well, if you have nothing else to share, then I'll see you next week?" The doctor stands and holds her clipboard to her chest.
"Yes, thank you." Wooyoung's stands as well and bows to her before heading to the door.
*
When Yunho walks out of the room he sees Wooyoung sitting in the waiting room.
"Hey, Baby," Yunho says as he walks up to Wooyoung with a sad smile.
"Hey, YuYu. Why are you sad?" Wooyoung asks as he stands to hold his face.
"I'm not sad, just got a little too deep in my emotions. Why don't we go on a date, Baby?"
Wooyoung perks up immediately and jumps up to wrap his arms around Yunho's waist. "I'd love to!"
"I was hoping you'd say that." Yunho says fondly.
He presses a kiss to Wooyoung's temple and the two of them leave hand in hand to walk out to the car.
"What did you have in mind??" Wooyoung asks as he skips next to his boyfriend.
"Well there is a pretty nice steak house that Seonghwa helped start so I get discounts. I was thinking we could go get some dinner tonight and maybe I have a little surprise for you after." Yunho leaves it at that for Wooyoung to imagine.
"Really? A surprise?" Wooyoung asks excitedly.
"I wanted to show you some love and attention, Baby."
"Oh come on! Can I please have a hint?" Wooyoung begs. "Pleassseeee?"
Yunho sighs. "The best kind of prize is a sur-prise."
Wooyoung pauses for a minute. "Did you just quote a Johnny Depp movie?"
"Yes, I did," Yunho says without missing a beat.
Wooyoung rolls his eyes and sighs heavily before he settles into his seat. He knows he's not going to get anywhere with the surprise.
When they get to the steakhouse, Seonghwa greets them at the door with a big smile.
"I'm so happy you called! I have a table all ready for in our best section." The man beams.
"Thanks Hwa!" Yunho takes Wooyoung's hand and the two of them follow their friend toward the back of the restaurant.
Wooyoung sits down across from Yunho who pulls out his chair for him before sitting down himself. Seonghwa stands next to them and hands Yunho the wine menu.
"Anything specific you want?" He asks the couple.
Yunho looks over the list for a minute. "A bottle of red to go with the steaks. I trust your recommendation since I'm a little out of practice at fine dining," Yunho teases.
Seonghwa leaves the couple to grab them their wine while they look over the menu.
"This place is beautiful," Wooyoung says.
"Yeah, Hwa put a lot of hard work into it." Yunho looks around and admires the lavish furniture and decor.
Wooyoung looks around too, then tilts his head. "Maybe I can work here when I can get my visa."
Yunho arches an eyebrow. "You want to work in a restaurant?"
The younger shrugs. "Maybe? I don't really know, but I don't think I can just sit around and wait for you every day. And I love to cook. So if not here, then maybe I could do something else with it."
"Well you are a fantastic cook," Yunho replies. "What is your favorite thing to cook, Baby?"
Wooyoung hums with a small smile. "Cookies. Whenever I had a bad day, my mom would always help me bake chocolate chip cookies. She used to say that there was nothing a fresh cookie couldn't fix."
Yunho smiles at him. "Why don't you open your own bakery? Cookies and pastries and things like that?"
Before Wooyoung can answer Seonghwa is returning with their wine and pouring them each a glass.
"Do you know what you'd like to eat?" Seonghwa asks, folding his arms over his stomach.
"Your best steaks, Hwa. Please." Yunho smiles at his friend and then to Wooyoung. "And maybe some lobster tails? Get some surf and turf going?"
"Excellent choice." Seonghwa grins.
"Oh that sounds amazing." Wooyoung groans a little and rubs his stomach.
Yunho smiles at Wooyoung. If all goes well, they will be leaving the restaurant later to get a necklace welded on Wooyoung to signify their engagement.
Yunho had thought long about what he wanted. He got a chain with a metal plate on it covered in beautiful gems. On the back he had their initials engraved.
"You know Wooyoung, I have been thinking," Yunho starts. "What about me made you fall in love with me? I just can't figure out what I did right to deserve you."
Wooyoung tilts his head, confused by the sudden question, but the softest of smiles crosses his face.
"I mean, you're sexy a fuck, and the fact that you put up with my crazy antics right away opened the door for me."
Yunho can't help but smile too, his eyes never leaving Wooyoung's face.
"But... for me it's how gentle you actually are. How caring and how full of love you are. From day one I knew you are someone who completes me and who I can be myself with."
Wooyoung watches as Yunho's ears turn a bright red and a light blush spreads over his face. "What made you love me?" Wooyoung asks next.
"I fell for the adventure. You have traveled to so many places so when I first met you, there was this look in your eyes. A look that said life would be an adventure if I got to know you. And I wasn't wrong," Yunho laughs lightly. "But I mostly fell in love with your kindness. You are so forgiving and generous. The way you love the people around you is so beautiful. I wanted to be one of those people."
Wooyoung tears up at the words with a bright smile on his face. How was this man his?
"Plus I do enjoy being with my baby girl so very much." Yunho adds with a smirk when Wooyoung squirms in place a little.
"I enjoy my daddy too."
"And that's probably the last thing that sealed the deal for me." Yunho adds, his voice getting softer now. "I've never found someone who I've been so compatible with."
"I never thought I'd like it as much as I do."
"You took to it very well, Princess. Almost like second nature," Yunho praises.
Wooyoung blushes lightly at the words. At that moment Seonghwa comes out with their food.
"This looks great, Hwa," Yunho compliments.
As Seonghwa leaves the couple digs in to their food and Wooyoung nearly moans at the first bite of his steak.
"Better watch out YuYu. This steak is so good, I might have to make Seonghwa my boyfriend."
"I don't know that Yeosang would want to share." Yunho chuckles, not feeling threatened at all.
"Eh, we've shared before." Wooyoung licks his lip and takes another bite. "Ffffck mmmisssh ish ggmmmd."
Yunho laughs harder and takes a few bites of his own. "I bet you could make something better."
Wooyoung pauses and blushes again. "Really?" He asks once he's swallowed.
"Yes, Baby. You would be an amazing chef," Yunho says with a soft smile. "If you wanted to you could even be a Korean chef that brings traditional Korean food to London. You would be famous."
Wooyoung hums and contemplates that. Could he do that?
"Do you really think I can do it?" Wooyoung asks, hoping to be reassured.
"I do." Yunho smiles softly. "I'm sorry you have to wait so long before you can get a job."
Wooyoung twists his lips to the side and glances to right. His eyes fall on a girl taking a photo of her food.
"That's it!!" He nearly screams, drawing attention to himself.
"What?" Yunho asks.
"What if I'm like an influencer or I do it all online and I get paid that way? I don't think I need a visa to do that!"
"That's genius Woo! You would be so good at it," Yunho says excitedly then takes a sip of his wine.
Wooyoung feels pride swell knowing he has his lover's support. Yunho had been so good to him all day and he can't wait for his surprise.
"So Woo... I wanted to ask you something." Wooyoung nods as if to tell him to continue. "Do you like staying here with me? Or do you wish you could still travel with your friends?"
Wooyoung was shocked. They were having such a nice dinner so he wasn't expecting the older to ask him that.
"Of course I like being here with you, Yunho. I love you." Wooyoung says with a slight frown.
Yunho puffs his chest out a little. "And you want to continue staying with me, right?"
"Yunho, where is this coming from?"
"Right?" Yunho's eyes grow a little rounder, almost pleading.
"Yes, that was my plan at least before you started acting weird."
"Wooyoung, I just need to know that I'm it for you. You're my future, Baby, and I can't imagine what I would do if you decided you wanted to leave again. Wooyoung, I am committed to you and only you for the rest of my life, and I pray you feel the same way."
Wooyoung feels the blush make its way to his cheeks as tears come to his eyes. "Yunho you are all I have ever wanted. If I was to leave, it would only be if you came with me. I love you so much!"
Yunho reaches across the table to hold his hands in his. "Good. That means when your done eating, your surprise will be waiting for you." He says with a smile.
"You are so frustrating." Wooyoung huffs.
But he does start to eat a little bit faster. So much so that Seonghwa scolds him the next time he stops by the table.
When dinner is finally finished, Yunho can't hide the smile on his face as Wooyoung bounces in place next to him the entire way to the car.
And in the car.
And at every red light they hit.
"Your patience is terrible!" Yunho laughs, glancing over at how Wooyoung is looking out the window with wide eyes to try and figure out where they are going.
Yunho pulls into a parking lot and hands Wooyoung a blindfold.
"Cover your eyes, Baby," he says with a teasing smile. Wooyoung pouts but does as he is told.
With the blindfold secured Wooyoung feels Yunho grab his hands and guide him into a store. He smells something sweet and notices that the lights are dim since he was able to see some slightly through the blindfold.
"Okay, Baby," Yunho says when they come to a stop. "Take off the blindfold."
When Wooyoung takes the blindfold off he is met with display cases and lit candles everywhere. He sees a sales lady standing behind a jewelry case and gasps. He then turns to find Yunho who is kneeling on the floor next to him.
"What-" Wooyoung gasps and brings a hand up to his mouth.
Yunho reaches out to take his free hand and caresses it softly. "As I said before, I know you are my one and only, Wooyoung. I've never felt more alive than this time we've been together. And I never want it to end. You complete me in so many ways and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"
Through tears and stifled sobs, Wooyoung nods his head several times and manages to somehow choke out a "Yes!!"
Yunho lets out a sigh of relief as Wooyoung collapses in his arms. He pulls back and holds his arm out where he had been keeping his tattoo for Wooyoung hidden.
"I guess I can finally show you this," he says as he rolls his sleeve up.
Wooyoung gapes at the beautiful candle with his initials swirling above it like smoke.
"Yunho! This is so beautiful!" Wooyoung collapses into his arms again to cling to him and Yunho had never felt so loved.
"I have one other thing." He whispers into the top of Wooyoung's head.
"What is it?" Wooyoung tilts his head back.
"Well instead of a ring, I wanted something a little more unique. Like you." Yunho smiles and starts slowly walking then toward the jeweler and the case she's behind.
"Okay?" Wooyoung says, staring curiously in front of him.
The woman pulls out a velvet box and hands it to Wooyoung with a smile. When he opens it, he sees a beautiful white gold chain with a small silver plate covered in beautiful gems.
"Oh Yunho... it's beautiful."
"Look on the back baby," Yunho whispers.
Wooyoung flips it over to see their names engraved in a beautiful cursive and a small heart. He removes it from the box delicately.
"I will never take this off as long as I live," Wooyoung whispers.
Yunho laughs slightly. "Trust me, that's the plan."
Wooyoung looks up to him, forehead creased slightly with confusion.
"It's designed to be permanent." The jeweler says. "I will measure so that it's snug to your skin and then weld it together."
Wooyoung's eyes widen in shock and he turns to Yunho. "Will that be... okay??" He asks, trying to express his concern to their lifestyle.
"Yes, I researched it. Don't worry, my love." Yunho beams.
The woman holds out her hand to take the necklace back. "Follow me please?"
Wooyoung follows the woman to a back corner and is instructed to sit in a chair while the woman measures it around his neck so it won't be too tight or too loose.
"You really thought this out, didn't you YuYu?" Wooyoung teases.
"Well I wanted it to be perfect, so yes, I thought it out. I promised one hell of a proposal, didn't I?"
Wooyoung fights a smile when the jeweler tells him not to move.
She works quickly and carefully to cut the chain then weld it together so that it sits flush against Wooyoung's neck.
A warmth spreads through him when he sees himself in the mirror.
It's like a permanent collar and a ring all in one.
The perfect symbol that he is forever devoted to the man standing behind him.
