Kang Sol rolls her head towards the doorway to look , he is still not here she thought, trying to keep her attention on the file and not on the clock.

Today was Friday, surprisingly she had completed most of her pending case, this was unlike her ,but still here she was ,waiting in her office at 7 in the evening , for him to come.

This was their unsaid habit, he would come to pick her up at her office every Friday at 6, along with his loop-sided grin, and messy hair and from there they would go out for drinks, dinner or at times when workload was high they would just sit together trying to find solution for their clients, just like their University days.

She gave out an awkward sigh ,there was a time when she thought that he liked her in a way, more than friends.

Every one , in their study group used to call them made for each other, she knew that she was nowhere near the second round judicial round passer.
But his care and support had given her confidence,she didn't know she had.
At first she thought of waiting for him to confess, but then she decided to do it herself .

She Kang Sol A had decided to confess her love.  She had decided that she wouldn't stay with regrets. They were in their final year after all this was now or never,she said to herself.

But than she heard the rumor in the study group.
Joon hwi hung is going out with a first year Bok gi announced.

She was shocked, so much that her roommate held her hand under the desk. Silently supporting her

She wanted to believe that this is just a baseless rumor.
She had even gotten everything ready for the proposal.
She was going to ask him out on Saturday right after their final exams. Her confession letter in the LEFT book , the same law book that she had scammed him into buying years ago .

But she could notice the subtle changes in Joon Hwi . He had started to spend more time glancing at his phone ,the smile that used to adorn his face while talking to someone on the phone

One day Joon Hwi brought her to dinner and introduced her to their group,

Mik-ga the women that had sweeped him of his fight

They all made polite conversation , later Joon hwi dropped her at the dorms and came to accompany them for drinks.

That's when ye beom spoke.
Hyung, I thought you would date Sol noona.

All knew which Sol he was talking about,his Best friend.

Kang sols breath hitched at the remark.

She glanced at Joon Hwi awaiting his answer,

But his response broke her heart.

She is just my best friend,  we don't like each other in that way we are partners in crime.
He said winking at her.

She doesn't remember her reply but she did say something , probably something that supported his statement, all she remembers is that she drank her heart away.

God she wanted to hate, the second year student ,her Joon Hwi's girlfriend, but she couldn't Mik-ga was a cute , bright kid , beautiful and innocent in a way she was not.

Joon hwi and mik ga broke up after 6 months but She never confessed, not wanting to ruin thier friendship when Joon Hwi just saw  her as a friend.
So she buried her feelings.

It's not as if she is still waiting for him, she went on blind dates ,even had a serious relationship but at the back of her mind she always compared the guys to Joon Hwi.
Many guys came and went in her life but he was the only one that stayed.

Hearing a knock
She moves her head towards the doorway, frowning as she feels her neck muscles protesting of their prolonged use. .

“I brought lunch, it's you favourite.” he said leaning against the doorway.

She blinks, wanting to make sure he’s really there and it's not just a mere figment of her imagination.

Her frown disappears and her entire being slowly but surely perks up at the realisation of his presence.

She invites him in clearing her table of her files.

Her  sight lingers on her best friend who’s is busy arranging their dinner.
This kind of domestic behaviour makes her heart flutter.

She always tries her hardest to keep her feelings in check so she doesn’t cross the line and doesn't ruin their friendship.

But right now she’s too tired of keeping her feelings at bay , just once just once she want to let go , take the chance and confess her feelings.

She lets out a sigh and gets up.
“Gosh, I’m hungry what took you so long.
And just like that everything went back to normal.
Just two friends bickering and eating food ,  she said to herself, trying to keep her unrequited love at bay.

She know that she should move on, this feelings of her will just destroy her friendship.

She should ask ye seul to set her a blind date. She mused in her mind as she listened to Joon Hwi explaining hwo his girlfriend is working hard for her next promotion and how proud of her he is.

She will let go, she decided
One day.
Not just today,
Today she will suffer.

Well Kang Sol did try to test waters many times , trying to know about Joon hwi's feelings and each time she got a negative response.
Once Kang Sol B on her insistence , upfront asked Join Hwi if he had feelings for her and at that time Joon had given her a clear answer that he never felt that way about the older Sol, and he only saw her as a friend.
This favor was a secret between the two roommates.

She had given up on her love after that, or so she told Ye-Seul and Kang Sol B
