CHAPTER THREE
a date

July 29th, 2022.

"So, who is this date even with?" Tate asked as her and Madison looked through Cassie's clothes while Iris' did Cassie's makeup. "It's with Chandler..." Tate stopped looking at that and turned to the girl. "You're going on a date with Chandler Kinney?" She didn't know why she was shocked.

Cassie nodded as Iris backed away, finally finished with her make up. "I didn't even know you knew her." Madison spoke up as she laid a couple outfits out for Cassandra. "Well, I mean we only meant like the other day.. Zaria invited me to the premiere and at the after party we almost, kissed?"

They were quiet at first, then she felt a pillow hitting her. "You don't kiss someone the first day you meet them, Cassandra!" Iris yelled as she threw the pillow on the bed. She had a point, she really shouldn't have kissed Chandler but it just happened. "I wasn't fully sober and she was fine with it..." Besides, it worked out in the end. They had a date planned and Cassie hoped more was gonna happen too.

"And it's not like I creeped her out? She's the one basically suggested I asked her out..." Tate let out a small gasp as she titled her head. "Did she now?" Cassie nodded, going to look through the dresses. Madison had picked good options, but she was still unsure if some were good enough for a date. "Are you really sure you're ready to date again?" Madison suddenly asked and got a look from Iris and Tate.

Cassie stopped looking through the dresses and turned to the three. "I wouldn't have kissed her and then asked her out if I wasn't?" She didn't know why they were doubting her. Cassie was far over everything and was finally ready to date again. She was ready to fall in love again. "Besides, it's just one date. It might not go further."

Cassie grabbed one of the dresses, going into her bathroom to change. "But you want it be more, right?" She heard Tate ask from the other room as Cassie slipped into her dress. "Of course I want more than just one date with her." She spoke up as she spinned the back of her dress up. She then turned to the mirror, trying to slightly fixing her hair. "What's taking you so long in there?" Iris asked making Cassie groan when her hair wouldn't stay in place.

"My hairs a mess, I can't meet her like this!" She groaned as she moved her once again before rushing out of the bathroom. "Andy, you look fine. Stop worrying about it." Madison leaned against the wall with her arms crossed as she looked at Cassandra. "Also, if you don't leave soon she's probably gonna think you stood her up... Aren't you picking her up?" When she heard what Tate said, Cassie let out a curse and grabbed her bag and Jackie. "I have to go." She rushed out before running out the door and left the three in the apartment.

"Have fun, be safe!" Iris yelled out at the girl.

Before she knew it, she was at Chandler's. She had stopped at the store to get flowers for the girl too. Cassie sat in the car for a moment as she stared at the door to Chandler's. Cassie slipped her jacket on and grabbed the flowers she bought. She stepped out of the car into the cold air and felt herself shiver slightly. She jogged up over to the door, and knocked.

It took a moment but then she heard footsteps behind the door. And then it was opened and Chandler was on the other side. "Hi." Chandler was the first to speak up, looking at Cassie who stood outside with a smile slipped on her face. "Hi... Oh, these are for you." She held the flowers up, handing them towards Chandler who let out a small laugh as she took them.

"Thank you, I appreciate it." Chandler placed the flowers on the table and walkdd out as she closed the door. "I'll put them in water after the date." Cassie nodded and the two walked side by side. When they got to the car, she opened the door for Chandler and she thanked her. Cassie rushed to her side, getting in and shutting the door.

"So, what's the plan for the night?" She thought about saying it, but then she didn't. "You'll just have to wait and soon."

They went to dinner first and it had gone great. Now, the two were walking in around a park as the moonlight shined above them. "Favorite movie?" Chandler asked, looking towards Cassie who was staring up at the stars. She looked back down, turning her eyes to Chandler. "It kinda depends on my mood.. If I want like a horror movie, I guess, you're next? Or if I want something funny and cute it's definitely 10 things I hate about you."

Chandler had been asking questions that Cassie had already asked her and she was answering them. "I haven't seen either of those..."  She heard the other one mumbled making Cassie let out a dramatic gasp and stop suddenly which made Chandler stop. "Okay, I don't really care that much for the first but— you haven't seen 10 things I hate about you? It's a classic, Chandler!"

She threw her hands up, being a bit dramatic which made Chandler laugh. "Maybe you'll have to watch it with me then." Cassie bumped into her shoulder, making her bump Cassie back. Then she saw how the taller girl shivered, she didn't know why she hadn't brought a jacket. She told her in the car it was gonna be cold but Chandler was hell bent on her being fine.

"Do you want my jacket?" She asked as she reached to take hers off. Cassie held the jacket in her hand and held it out for Chandler. "Cassie, I'm fine. I really don't need it." But she only shook her head, pushing it further into the other's hands. At that, she sighed and playfully rolled her eyes as she took the jacket.

And the two went back to their conversation as they headed back to the car.
