Prologue
Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, there were two regal sisters who ruled together and created harmony for all the land.
To do this, the eldest used her unicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn.
The younger brought out the moon to begin the night.
Thus, the two sisters maintained balance for their kingdom and their subjects, all the different types of ponies.
But as time went on, the younger sister became resentful.
The ponies relished and played in the days her elder sister brought forth, but shunned and slept through her beautiful night.
One fateful day, the younger unicorn refused to lower the moon to make way for the dawn.
The elder sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the young one's heart had transformed her into a wicked mare of darkness: Nightmare Moon.
She vowed she would shroud the land in eternal night.
Reluctantly, the elder sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to Ponydom: the Elements of Harmony.
Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her younger sister and banished her permanently on the moon.
The elder sister took on the responsibility for both sun and moon, and harmony has been maintained in Equestria for generations since.

The breaking of dawn was spectacular, for all of Oscech. Rows upon rows of small, wooden houses shown in the sun’s warm glow. It brought forth a light that quickly spread across the green landscape, letting bright summer flowers bloom, insects wake up, and a hot breeze in the air. Despite this beauty, the sky remained ever cloudy and covered the cyan colours that wished to break through. With it, the moon cast a soft radiant light upon what remained of the town and hid the sun for yet another day. Everything the sun brought hid from view, or lay to rest again until the sun would resurface near dusk.
Two sunrise eyes watched silently, atop a cool hill of grass and small mushrooms, that glowed from the moon’s brilliant spectre. The owner of the orbs blinked. They breathed in the night-time air through small nostrils. ‘What a lovely night~.’ But the serenity was short-lived. Another sound, apart from crickets, bullfrogs, and owls, made them turn. A brighter coloured male smiled to them, laying down on the darkened grass and looking out. The eyes of the sun met the ones of the moon. Blind and bright, but still soft and knowing.
“Hello, Cola.” The previous said sweetly.
“Hello to you as well, Sunset.” He said back, before turning towards the moon again. His face held a smile of enjoyment. “The others were wondering where you might have been. Autumn, River, Half, and Blossom are planning the Summer Sun Celebration. Couldn’t find ya anywhere.”
Sunset giggled softly at their friends’ antics and worries. They needn’t a reason to. They could handle themselves. But…
“I suppose there isn’t a reason to stay any longer, huh?”
The other nodded with a smile and stood up, stretching his great bat-like wings with a yawn. Sunset followed him, looking over the landscape one more time, and watching a few lightning bugs shine and dance. How peaceful, they thought, before following again. The grass glowed wet with dew as their hooves against it, flinging the water onto both of their soft furs. The Celebration will be one to remember this year.

“Gale and Blossom, both of ya need to get down here and help!” A tan pegasus yelled to the two others, one of whom wore a curving horn atop her head. Gale and Blossom looked to the one that called them, to each other, and gave a small laugh in response as they lay upside down on a cloud. “Half can be so serious sometimes.” The female stated jokingly, and the male nodded in agreement. “Sometimes she needs to learn to chill out.”
Half looked at the two and sighed, head lowering and ear twitching in response, as she blew a raspberry. The two of them always do this to me, she thought. But a sense was felt behind, so she turned towards it, and smiled in relief. “Thank Gaia you’re here. Those two,” She pointed to the cloud, “Started to help, but when I asked them to clear the sky a bit, they stuck to one of them.” Half sighed again, but this time of annoyance as Sunset and Cola cast confusion. “Hopefully you both can either get them down here or find Autumn to help me instead.”
A moment of silence passed before the Bat pony and Changeling burst out laughing. Half jumped a bit and was surprised by the two’s behaviour. “What?” The tan Pegasus asked, wondering what to do to make them stop, if it would even be possible. Sighing to herself, Half Moon turned and silently flew away towards where the few actual working ponies were stationed. Or, more simplistically, her other four friends that were setting up or baking treats.

Autumn Iridescence held the small bag of flour in the air, carefully measuring it into a cup. The aura of magic that surrounded it glowed a mixture of light brown, red, and orange with bright sparks. ‘Steady….steady….steady…’ Her breath stayed shallow as she, carefully, started to dump it in bit by bit. It filled quickly, but a few clumps fell out and landed on the already dirty table. Autumn cursed under her breath before finishing, dumping it into the mixture, then cleaning the table quickly. ‘If Blossom finds out, I’m as good as dead.’
A sudden burst from the wooden door, however, made the female jump as it slammed against the wall. She turned towards the intruder and saw both River Inkwell and Bubble. ‘How convenient…’ The Changeling thought. The mint-chocolate Unicorn helped the other up, as Bubble decided to dump the batter into a cake pan, then gave Autumn an amused look.
“You alright? Sorry if we scared you, we didn’t hear you in here and thought you had already left.” River giggled softly to herself as the Changeling dusted herself off, scowling in annoyance. “Well, yes I was in here, but you’re lucky. I would have thrown all of this at you.” Her magic held the bag of flour close to the other two. River gave another giggle, but this one of nervousness. Bubble looked at Autumn, amusement gone, and replaced with a more serious glance. She noticed quickly but paid it no mind. “Well...again, we’re sorry. Any way we could help with the…?” Looking around with red eyes, the Unicorn saw many-a cupcakes, cakes, cookies, and other sweets. “I...it seems that you’ve everything already figured out.”
“Yes.” The Changeling had it all thought out already, with rows of baked goods already stacked onto the multiple, cluttered tables. It made her proud, and if her kind were allowed, she'd surely have a cutie mark in it. “Well, I guess I could use some help wrapping them up. Considering the trip to our Queen's Palace." The other two nodded and moved to start helping, but making sure none of them were damaged. Gaia would surely quake at Autumn's rage.
