Me:
Hey
don't keep calling me I'm driving back, I'll meet you at home

I text Kai, so he would stop calling me.

"Ava! eyes on the road," Adeline says causing me to bring my eye back to the road, my phone buzzes and I drive to the next traffic light to stop and text back.

Kai:
Ava what the hell?!
Why did you go home?
And with who?

Me:
I forgot to feed the dog

Kai:
we don't have a dog?

Me:
did I write dog?
I meant hair dyer opps!

Kai:
you forgot to feed your hair dyer?

Me:
No you stupid I left the hair dryer on. Anyways people in the car behind me are really impatient as I seem to be breaking some laws here!
BYE!

I look in the rear mirror to see that I had managed to cause a traffic. Tick that off Bucket list!

You don't have a buc-

"Ava my grandma could drive faster than you," Adeline groans as I start driving again.

"Geeze women you have a cool grandma but, I most definitely can drive faster than your grandma!" And with that, I start speeding up to 20 mph, while all the other cars beeped at me, annoyed and just cut through me

"Told you I can drive faster than your grandma," I say and decide to stop messing about before I kill us both.

I start speeding toward the Kai's house, where I notice Charlie was standing in the drive-thru, as he notices the car, confusion was clear on his face.

"Let's go!" I cheer, getting out of the car and giving Charlie the keys

"Could like you know, hide this and get rid of the 'just married' sign?" I ask, this doesn't look suspicious at all, you have a bride and a 'just married' car but like where's the groom?

"Do I want to know?" Charlie asks

"I think it's best if you pretend like you didn't see anything," I say while pretending to zip my mouth and throw the keys away

Charlie puts his hand over his eyes while I run inside with Adeline.

"Holy cow, this place is amazing" I hear Adeline say as she takes in the places, I turn around and notice Adeline taking her phone out to take pictures, causing me to slap my forehead with my palm.

"I know right!" I reply dragging her upstairs to my room, I need to hide her before Kai comes.

"The red luggage has all my PJs, so you can get changed and first of all, you can't leave this room," I say with a straight face as we enter my room and Adeline takes a seat on my bed.

"But why?" Adeline asks

"Maybe because thisisntexactlymyhousebutKaisandhehadoesntknow!" I confess, taking a deep breath at the end.

"HOLY COW AVA DID WE JUST BREAK INTO SOMEONE'S HOUSE?!" Adeline belted, getting straight up from the bed.

"NO! No no well technically you did but NO!" I exclaimed, trying to convince her that we are,
well, I am here by permission.

Adeline takes a change of clothes from my luggage and walks into the bathroom after a while she's back changed and makeup-free; her eyes red, she was obviously crying in the bathroom.

While Adeline was in the bathroom I had also changed into my PJs and removed my make up.

"Hey, you feeling any better?" I ask, my voice low.

"Oh yeah just fine. My fiancee has been lying to me, used me and fuxking ruined my life but I'm fine," Adeline snapped

Well, that's great...

I offer to listen to her story and Adeline explains to me everything as to why she left her wedding and decided to camp out here.

"What a muggle!" I comment, listening to her rant

I was about to continue my conversations with Adeline when I hear my name being shouted from downstairs "Ava!" I feel the voice getting closer, before Kai comes here I decide to go out myself.

"Hey! What's up?" I greet casually as I stop Kai mid stairs.

"What's up? That's all you have to say?" Kai says

"What's down?" I ask again, sitting down on one of stairs while Kai stands few stairs down.

"Ava-" he says in a warning tone "but forget all this why are all the neighbours congratulating me?" He asks confused

Erm

"Oh, congratulating you-" for being the most handsome man ever "for being the most amazing and nicest person ever, " I say, flashing him a smile

Kai narrows his eyes at me, "What did you do?"

"What? nothing!" I gasp, holding my hand up in surrender

Kai counties to narrow his eyes at me,"Hmm, okay,"

"Liam has been looking for his wife, that's why I was a little late. But did you happen to see her before leaving?" kai asks, looking directly at me

"His wife? Nope didn't see her at all, I told you I forgot to feed my hair dyer, I mean left it on," I gulped and trying sound truthful. I know a part of him doesn't believe me, but he decides to let it go by shaking his head at me

"You ate?" He asks

"Actually no, but thank you so much for offering to cook I'll be back downstairs in a bit," with that I run back upstairs and open my bedroom door but a body comes crashing toward me, I push her back inside making sure to cover her with my body.

"What are you doing?" I say my eyes narrowing.

"Nothing much, but by the sound of that it seemed like Kai didn't know I was here?" She says, her arms folded

Because he doesn't

"Okay let me explain; I'm just as much as homeless as you are" well that was a shitty explanation "what I mean is I'm here by permission, whereas you not so much. So for both of us to stay here we must make sure you're invisible, understand" I whisper, making sure my voice isn't too loud

"Wait so this isn't your house?!" Adeline whisper yells.

I smile innocently and shake my head, running out of the room and shutting the door behind me. As I make my way downstairs toward the kitchen, pretending to be part of the spy kids movie.

"Ava, why are you trying to act out spy kids?" I hear Kai's voice from behind me, causing me to turn around and crash into Kai's chest.

Hello buddy, long time no see.

"You watched spy kids?!" I ask excited, taking a step back from Kai, also trying to distract him from the real question

"Yeah," he answers simply. I hold his shoulder and smile proudly.

"I'm proud, you didn't grow up watching 'Business talks with Ned',"I approvingly nod my head at him

"Of course not and is that even a show?" he raises his brows in question, I shake my head at him

"Anyways, I'm not really hungry anymore so I might just take some snacks up for the night," I say feeling bad for leaving Adeline alone.

"Are you sure?" He asks, probably confused why would Ava miss an opportunity of getting amazing free food

"Yeah yeah," I say getting all the popcorn, crisps and chocolate

"Ava, you better not eat that all tonight?" Kai warns, staring at me questioningly

"I won't, I'll keep them for the future," I grab a few more think and walk past him with hand full of snacks,

"You want any help?" Kai asks from bottom of the stairs

"NO!" I blurt from top of the stairs, while a skittles packet drops

I am so sorry my child!

"I'll be back for you" I whisper while running away dramatically

I get into the room and drop all the food so I can run back for the skittle but as I open the door I see Kai, picking the skittles packet and walking away.

This is what betrayal feels like!

I stuff some more snacks into my hoodie when I hear footsteps coming towards the kitchen

ABORT MISSION!

Stepping away from the snack and walking backwards so whoever it is doesn't notice my food baby.

"Ava?" I hear Kai speak from behind me,

"Morning, Kai," I say still not facing him, continuing to walk back I bump into something and by the slow breathing I can tell, it's a human.

"Excuse me," I say taking a step towards the right, but bump into Kai again, okay his doing this on purpose.

Pretending to move my feet towards the left, I turn around straight away and run towards the stairs, when I don't feel Kai's presence behind me anymore.

Me being me just had to turn my head around when I reach the top of the stairs to see Kai still staring at me, I stick my tongue out at him and run towards my room.

"Psst" I hissed, popping my head through the door "I stole some food for you."

I walk into the room and pull up my top to let all the food fall crashing onto the bed. Without any hesitation, Adeline stashes the food under the covers and we both start munching on the muffin.

"Ava, Where's my food and why is the fridge empty?!" Kai yells from downstairs, causing us both to start chocking on the muffin

"Shit" I curse "gotta go."

She quickly nods and informs me of the crumbs around my face, I quickly wipe away the evidence and skip my way downstairs.

"What's all the yelling about Kaipoop?" I tease, to which Kai gives me death Stares.

"Are you on your time of the month?" I keep teasing, hoping he'll forget about why he was yelling

"Shut up Ava" Kai warns, his voice low

"It's okay you can talk to me" I reassure him, placing one hand on his shoulder.

"Yeah damn right I will, about my food!" He says, raising his eyebrows.

"What-what are you talking-" before I could finish my sentence, Kai smirks,

"Well well Ava, you've been caught red-handed" he says, taking steps towards me, he bends down coming to eye level with me, bringing his hand up, he wipes something or more like the evidence from my jaw. He takes a step back and stands there like a proud inspector.

Damn you stubborn crumbs!

"So tell me, now tell me why is my fridge is all empty," He says annoyed,

Time for the guilt card

I frown and look down, "I'm sorry, I was stashing food away for this homeless girl I saw on my way from work and I felt really bad for her so I just wanted to help her," I mean I'm not exactly lying...

I hear Kai sigh,"You're lucky you're cute," he mutters to himself, "you could've just told me and I could've helped,"

Awh

"And who are laughing with these days?" Kai narrows his eyes at me.

I smile and think of a good and reasonable story "Oh you know, just calling some ghost friends over for a casual meeting, one being my good friend Casper,"

Reasonable?

I hear the door slam upstairs and my eyes widen "my ghost friends are here now. Bye!" I say while running upstairs.

Running into my room I find Adeline laughing while holding her stomach, we both laugh but not too loud for Kai to hear.

After a little while, I decide I need to go to work so after getting changed and warning Adeline to not walk out of the room and stay here.

I walk to the bus stop since I refuse to go through questioning with Kai. Finally after a while of waiting the bus finally comes and I take a seat in the middle. 2 stops later my phone buzzes.

Kai:
Get home now!
You have a lot of explaining to do!

Sorry for the late and lame update. I wasn't 100% sure about this chapter but it is an old chapter so bear with me, I'll try and make next chapter better.
