"Gimme!"I say, standing with my hands on my hips

"Nope," Kai shakes his head, sitting on the sofa

"Why?"I groan, slouching back on the sofa

"Because, you've had it all day and it's my turn now," he says, changing the channel on the tv

"NOOO!"I yell as I notice what Kai's about to put on tv.

Sports!

Don't get me wrong, it looks fun but I hardly even run and I'm always running late so there's my daily workout done.

"Yes," Kai responds back, a smirk on his face and his legs stretched, laying on the coffee table.

My eyes stay on the remote, waiting for him loosen his grip.

Almost

Eventually, his attention is all towards the tv screen and slowly the grip loosening

"Gotcha" I whisper, leaping across Kai to grab the remote from his other hand

My hand grabs the remote, but Kai seems to notice and tightens his hold on the remote, "oh, no you don't,"

Kai and I both seem to start playing a push and pull game, he might be strong but so was I, "gimme, gimme, gimme!"

"Nope."

A sudden load throat being cleared, causes both our attention to snap towards the door.

Shit...

Squidward raises one eyebrow, staring at us. Causing both of us to look down to see that I was technically on top of Kai.

"It's not what it looks like!" We both say at the same time, snapping our heads towards Squidward again, who clearly just looks amused by all this.

"Father, what are you doing here?" Kai asks, furrowing his brows as he stared at his dad

"Well, then care to explain?" he asks, ignoring Kai's question and folds his arm, raising his brows.

Kai and I both seem to mirror each other as we scratch the back of our head.

Damn it!

"Maybe explain while sitting in your own seat?" He says again, causing both me and Kai to look down at our position again and quickly scramble away from each other, both at two different ends of the sofa.

Squidward takes a seat on the side sofa, one leg on top of the other, "well?"

Well?

"She came over because," Kai starts, but pauses for a second,

"I left some stuff behind," I add

Squidward raises one eyebrow, referring back to the last scene.

"I tripped!

"She fell!"

At least it's close

We both look at each other for a second, glad to have at least said something similar

Squidward hums back in response, not saying anything else and just silently nodding

"I see, you came to pick up something at 1 am," Squidward confirms, nodding as he teases our fake story.

Well why are you here so late...?

"It's important so I had to take it back," I say, not quite sure where I'm going with this

"And what would that be?" He asks, his eyes glimmer for a second as if he's interested in my answer

Think, think, think!

We both answer at the same time,

"My dog!"

"Her fish!"

Seriously!

"My fish!"

"Her dog!"

I give Kai a 'are you serious look' and he returns it with a sigh and massaging his forehead.

Facing Squidward again, he looks as if he's trying to hold back a laugh.

I thought he was mean?

"Well, this was very interesting," Squidward smirks, eyeing both of us.

"You don't have to hide your relationship from me, I get it if you're putting the marriage topic on hold," he continues, sitting properly

"No!" We both shout at the same time

"But I would like grandchildren soon, since-" Squidward starts but gets cut off by both me and Kai shouting over each other,

"OH NO!"

"OH HELLLL NOOO!"

Squidward just seems more amused by all this and gets up, "I guess I'll speak to you in the office Kai and I'll let you guys carry on whatever was happening, tripping or falling."

We don't get to say anything and Squidward leaves us in our awkward silence, which I decide to break, "is he erm- gonna say or do anything?"

Kai sighs, "I don't really know, I can't seem to predict that man anymore,"

Kai seems a little deep in thought, and I use that to my advantage to snatch the remote control sitting between us.

"HA!" I cheer, changing the channel.

Kai groans beside me, tilting his head back on the sofa.

"WHAT WERE YOU EVEN MAKING?!" Kai yells, pouring cold water over the stove to calm the fire

I stand there look at the floor and pouting, I mumble, "I was only trying to make tea,"

"Seriously?" He deadpans, using a towel to take the now calmed small silver pot to the sink

"Yeah," I stand there like a scolded child, ashamed of my behaviour.

"How even?" He asks, standing in front of me with his arms folded

"I er-em left the milk and went upstairs," I mutter, not looking up.

Opps

I peak a look at Kai to see him trying to fight off a smile, his eyes meet mine and suddenly we both break out into laughter.

I stare at Kai laughing as he rubs his face and runs his hands through his hair, he looks hot

"What am I gonna do with you, Ava?" he says, finally finishing off his laughing fit.

I stare at Kai in admiration, he looks happy and that makes me happy.

"Why don't you sit down and let me do the cooking and if I'm not home then just ask Sarah, she takes care of the house," he explains, turning around to prepare breakfast

"Sarah? How come I've never seen her around?" I ask, honestly I haven't seen anyone expect Kai and Charlie.

"Maybe because, you only come down when it's time to eat or come at midnight to watch tv," he says, turning to give me a pointed look

True

Resting my elbow on the table, and propping up on my chin, staring at Kai's back

"True," I say lowly, completely lost as I stare at Kai's back muscles reflexing

Damn

How is he even single?

Probably been waiting for me

"Ava, Ava? Are you even listening?" Kai called, bringing me out of my stance

"Sorry what?" I ask, my hands reaching to check if I had been drooling.

What?

Hey, don't judge!

Lucky I wasn't, Kai turns and brings a plate of sandwiches and one cup of tea, placing them in front of me

He turns back to the counter, "I asked when do you start work?" grabbing the other cup and heading back towards the table.

"At 12,"I answer, biting into a sandwich.

Damn! This is good!

Kai looks down at his wrists, checking the time, "Ava, it's 11:46."

What?!

I almost choke on my sandwich and ask, "WHAT? HOW EVEN?"

I quickly demolish the sandwich and reach out for my cup of tea,

"Wait-" Kai warns but it's too late

"OWW!" I cry out in pain as the boiling tea burns my tongue.

"Slow down Ava," Kai says, as he eats slowly like he has all the time in the world.

"I was trying to tell you, I read the time wrong and it's 12:04," he smirks, sipping his tea.

"DUDE! What that hell?! I'm not even ready yet!" I glare at the smirking man in front of me and not bothering to finish this delicious sandwich, I leave it behind as I feel my heart breaking at the parting.

STOP BEING DRAMATIC!

Running up the stairs I quickly change into my uniform and grab my bag, running back downstairs and almost tripping on the stairs.

"Ohh, slow down tiger," Kai says, reaching his hands out to me, ready to catch me but I'd managed to hold onto the railing.

Kai was dressed in his usual business attire.

"Let's go!" I yell at Kai, already running towards the car, getting annoyed since he seems to be taking his sweet time.

"HURRY UP!"

Not bothering to say anything I quickly get out of the car and run towards the café,

"Oh my god! I am so sorry Aiden, I accidentally set the kitchen on fire and then almost set my tongue on fire, ple-" I start apologising as soon as I see Aiden, who was standing at the counter, looking completely lost.

"Ava,-" he starts but I cut him off,

"I get it, I'll get my things," I say, looking down

Girl, what things?

You gonna run off with the coffee machine?

"Ava, hello?" Aiden calls, waving his hand in front of my face, "Why are you apologising, you're an hour early,"

...

Ugh!

"I'm gonna kill him," I say lowly under my breath, gritting my teeth

"Oh why, oh why?" Kai's voice was very close, in fact, I could practically feel his breath fanning my neck.
