Chapter 4

Everyone got there weapons out. The biggest wolf growled.

"That thing talks." Petra pointed out, "I don't think that's a good sign."

"Nah, I've seen these things before. The things themselves aren't a good sign." I said.

If the wolves had eyes, I would've attempted to stare them down. But I could hardly make out their muzzles.

"Unique One." The biggest wolf growled.

Unique One.

Unique One.

U n i q u e  O n e.

Only the Witherstorms had called me that.

"Unique One?" Rory repeated, "maybe if you explained it to us we could actually give you what you want."

"She knows what we mean." The wolf flicked a paw at me.

I pointed my sword at it. Of all of the wolves, this one would die first.

"Aza?" Jesse said.

"Come to me. I have need of you." The wolf rumbled.

I shook my head at the wolf. I wasn't sure why this creature wanted me, but I sure as heck didn't want to give myself up.

"It wants Aza?" Olivia studied the wolves, "but why?"

"Still trying to figure that out myself." I growled.

"What's this 'Unique One' stuff?" Rory asked.

The big wolf took a step forward.

"Come to me. I have need of you."

"Cøme tò mē. I hãve neêd of yöu."

"ČÒMÊ TÕ MÊ. I HÄVĒ NEĖD ÕF ŸÒÚ."

The ferocity in it's voice...it actually hurt to listen to.

"God dammit, you don't need me!"I shouted.

That was when they started coming towards us.

"Alright, everyone to the stairs!" Jesse ordered.

-------------

Falconblaze yowled and scrambled away from the black jaws.

No, impossible. These beings had been vanquished with the third death of Tigerstar!

Wolfshine screeched as one bit her flank. Falconblaze dived on the Mist Cat and bit deep into it's throat. It disappeared.

"We need to go!" Wolfshine meowed.

Falconblaze nodded and the two shot into the forest like startled rabbits. The predator was the Mist Cat.

Falconblaze could feel the coolness of the mist on her tail.

----------

I slashed at a wolf and it disappeared into mist.

"Keep going!" Jesse shouted from behind.

Rory grabbed my hand and we ran up the stairs.

"These things are insane!" Olivia yelped.

I pulled my hand away from Rory's. It would only slow us down.

The Mist Wolves came from the places that the mobs were supposed to come from.

There was a bark of a Mist Wolf behind us, but it was cut off as lava dribbled down next to it.

The lava burned Mist wolves beneath, too.

"Ha! The lava's taking them out!" Axel exclaimed triumphantly.

"And..." Olivia said as lava set the stairs below on fire, "there go the stairs."

"Go!" Jesse yelled.

Then we started running again. One threat gone, another appearing.

The fire was fast.

And then there was a point where we were trapped.

---------

Fawn kicked her hind legs out at the Mist Wolves, sending two backwards, leaving her with enough time to start running.

"Kajit! Faolan! Edme! Caila! Whistler! Anybody! Help!" Fawn howled.

She scrambled through the snow, huffing as the Mist Wolves howled behind her.

One wolf darted in front of Fawn, making her skid and lose control of where she was going. She bumped into the Mist Wolf, and it whispered in her ear.

"Ñôt ÿët."

------------

"Jump for it! Climb the vines!"

Everybody started scrambling up the vines. The fire ate what was left of the stairs, so if we fell...

Certain death.

But at least...

Well, I was going to think 'at least we were safe' but then the cave spiders came out to play.

"Cave spiders? It had to be cave spiders!" Petra growled.

"Well, the way out is through them." Jesse said.

Rory looked a bit scared. He couldn't use his bow when he needed his hands on the vines. I climbed in front of him, sword ready to slay some spiders.

They hissed, but with swords like these it was a one-hit KO.

There was a clank sound, and then the door started to close.

"The door's closing!" Olivia gasped.

Jesse looked at her sword, hesitant, then threw her sword like a badass and it stopped to door from closing completely.

We all scrambled out of that place. I doubled over, panting, and Rory collapsed on the ground.

"Man, this is becoming my lucky swo-ord...oh no." Jesse grabbed her sword and started desperately trying to pull it out.

I could hear the hisses of cave spiders coming closer.

Then she pulled out her sword, and the door closed.

"Good job, now let's let out of here." Axel advised.

And we did.

We stood outside.

The night air was refreshing. Rory patted me on the back.

Jesse stared at her glowing flint and steel.

"You should burn something." Axel suggested, getting excited of the idea that something could go up in flames.

"Way ahead of you, Axel." Jesse wandered over to a stump.

She rubbed the flint and steel together.

The stump went up in a column of blue flames.

It was spectacular.

"That looks a little...too sophisticated for you, Jesse."
