Chapter 8

A few months had passed since Izuku had received One for All from All Might. In that, he and the others had finished clearing the beach, and was no focusing on training One for All. It had been quite the learning curve, given it's volatile output of power. Izuku had unfortunately learned this on his first day attempting to use it, when he had broken his arm with a single punch.

Of course, All Might had the foresight to have Recovery Girl on standby, though she gave a thorough scalding to both All Might and Izuku (mostly All Might, since his advice for using the power was "clench you butt cheeks and yell 'SMASH!'". Luckily, with Momo, Mina, and Kirishima with him, they were able to talk about ideas on how to regulate the power, since All Might guessed Izuku able to wield about 5 to 10 percent of it.

It was Momo who thought about having Izuku spread One for All through his whole body instead of focusing it on the limb he was using to attack. Doing so had allowed him to incorporate his Capoiera with his Quirk, which he dubbed Full Cowling, in order to better his combat style. And it worked like a charm, with Izuku being so much faster and stronger.

Of course, also during this time, All Might had held a press conference in order to clarify what it was he had said during the Sludge Villain incident. He by no means wanted to people to start jumping into Vigilantism, but it was a message that your Quirk, or lack thereof, doesn't matter. Also that Pro Heroes today needed to remember that it was their duty to save civilians to the best of their abilities, and not always rely on someone with the 'right Quirk', as that could lead to grave consequences.

This also had lasting effects on the Heroes who had been present during the incident. Of course, Backdraft had faced almost no repercussions, as he was doing his best. Others though, notably Mt. Lady, Kamui Woods, and Death Arms, had been required by the Hero commission to take some additional training regarding threat analysis, and how to use what they had, regardless of their Quirk. In fact, the program became increasingly popular, as quite a few Heroes decided to volunteer to take the course.

Back to the present, Izuku was meditating alone at the beach, something he learned had help him hone his focus when it came to One for All. During his meditation, thoughts of Momo crossed his mind. How he had been about to confess before the Sludge Villain, and then receiving One for All and the following training hadn't given him time to try again.

Until now. But now, with this new power and responsibility (All Might had also since divulged about One for All's origins and All for One), he wasn't sure if he still could. So lost in his inner fight, he hadn't know Mina sit beside him.

"Heya, Midori!" she said, breaking him out of his reverie. He was slightly startled at being jerked out of his thoughts, but quickly relaxed on seeing who it was. "Penny for your thoughts?" she asked.

"Yea, Mina," Izuku replied. "Just thinking about everything that's happened over the last few months, starting with receiving One for All." He had been sure to look around, and knew they were the only two on the beach. His brow furrowed as he let out a sigh. "I don't know if I missed my chance with Momo." His words made Mina shake her head.

"I don't think you have at all," she stated. "I know it's been hectic, but it seems like we've been able to regulate our time." Never let it be said that Mina Ashido was dumb. In fact, and her friends could attest, she was actually quite brilliant. She didn't have the best grades mainly due to the fact that she had dyslexia, and it was hard to pay attention in class because of it. Luckily, the teachers had made concessions where they could, so she was able to do halfway decent.

"With that said," Mina continued, "you should probably take the chance while you can." Izuku smiled to Mina. He admitted to himself that he found the pink girl attractive, but he didn't feel the same way about her that he did about Momo. Again, he scowled a little.

"But what about my responsibility with One for All," he questioned. Mina thought about this. It was a heavy burden, but....

"Well, we already know about it," Mina answered. "If you're worried about some Villain coming after Momo because the two of you are together, did you not consider that maybe they'd still come after your friends and family anyways. At least with this knowledge, we can better prepare, and we'll all be by your side." Now, Izuku relaxed even more.

"You're right, Mina," he said. "Thank you. For everything." She smiled widely to him.

"Well, then why are still sitting here?" she said, with a faux pout. "Go and get her." Izuku nodded and stood. Before he left, he turned back.

"I don't want to just leave a friend behind for this," he said.

"Nah, I was about to head home," Mina replied. "Wanted to get a small walk in when I saw you. I'm good." With that, Izuku smiled and left. Mina reflected. In another life, she may have ended up with the boy. But she saw how he and Momo were. Plus, she didn't really know if she was ready for that kind of thing just yet, as much of a hopeless romantic as she was, and she was well content with having the best of friends.

Which reminded her, she still needed to tease Kirishima for how much time he and Nakagami had been spending together. So much so that it looked like the other girl had changed her application from Ketsubutsu to U.A.

That'd be fun to have her there, Mina thought as she headed back home.
