"They gave me a gun
They said: shoot and run.
And I ran
But did not shoot.
For I could never shoot him."

Tony looked up from his book, his eyes blurry and unfocused, squinting at Natasha. "You say something Red?"
She shot a glare his way. "I swear to God that sometimes, I think your hearing is older than your age," she snapped at him rudely.
Tony went back to his book, shrugging off Natasha's temper as he always did. "I think you are always on your period Red," he chuckled.
She threw a lamp that just barely missed him and hopped off the counter she was sitting on.
"That was a very expensive lamp you just threw!"
~X~
"Calm blue waves skimming the surface
I saw her face
And I dived in
Only to see
Broken shards of glass."
Sam stared at Steve with a emotion he could not quite put, and it bothered him. He was like this for several more heartbeats, and Steve was getting worried.
"That,"he finally started,"was something else. Where'd ya learn to do poetry like that?"
Steve shrugged, and politely thanked Sam. They continued their conversation over Bucky when Steve's phone rang. He looked down at the screen and saw Nick was calling him.
"It's from Nick, probably for a mission. Nice seeing you." He stood up from the table and quickly said goodbye to Sam before answering the former Director.
"Fury, nice having you call me for once."
"Steve,"his voice was grave, almost deeper sounding then usual,"she's dead. Peggy is dead." Steve dropped his phone, and it landed with a 'crack'.
"She...she can't be dead."
~X~
True to Peggy's word, the funeral was brief, with only those she trusted were there, including Natasha.
They stood next to each other, barely speaking. Steve was more focused on not crying. Natasha, well, she just stood there with her poker face, and he wasn't able to get any read on her emotions.
It was over to fast for him, to fast to say goodbye. By the end, only he and Natasha were left. That was when both stood in front of the other and stared into each other's eyes.
"She was hoping we would be married before she died," Natasha pointed out.
Steve looked at her with disbelief.
"I hardly think we could ever get married now."
She narrowed her eyes. "You don't have to be a asshat to me Rogers."
He stared back with equal amounts of challenge. "Oh? Do I not have to remember that my own girlfriend, who promised to stick with me through thick and thin, left me for some law and a idiot who's to rich for his own good? Tell me that Natasha!" He spat back, vigorously clenching his fist at his side.
"You are showing the upmost disrespect to Peggy, I bet she's crawling around in her grave!"
He slapped her
He slapped her
"Don't you ever talk about Peggy like that." His eyes were blue storms of fire, and his voice was low and dangerous.
Natasha stepped back a little from the force of the impact, a small hand on her right cheek where he slapped her, and a growing red mark of his hand.
Steve's hand was still in the air, and now looking at the damage he done, the blond instantly regretted hitting her.
"Nat..I-" She stopped him from speaking by coughing loudly and staring hatefully at him.
"I get it Rogers. I really do. I got me, and that's all I need. I don't need you, I don't need anyone."
Natasha removed her hand from her cheek, but the damage was done. A bright red hand print was plastered onto her pale skin, a ugly reminder of what he did. Straightening out her dress, she bid him a calm farewell and stormed out of the building.
Baby I got me
And that's all I need
Baby I got me
Only friend I need....
