chapter 4 - leo

just in case you guys were wondering, leo's just a temporary character. although, all da ladies luv leo!

Leo stepped back to admire his work. His hands were grimy and sweaty, but he didn't care. He had built the boat in less than half an hour. A new accomplishment. Percy and Annabeth stared at the boat in astonishment. They couldn't help but be impressed at Leo and Calypso's handiwork. The boat glowed faintly of Celestial bronze. The metal was woven together with steel in an intricate braid. Smooth, caramel-brown wood was skillfully placed on the deck. The words Argo Mini were inscribed on the side. True to its name, it looked like a fancier mini version of the Argo II, without Festus as the warhead.

"So, what do you think?" He asked, pretending that he wasn't well aware of their astonishment.

"Leo, this is amazing! How do you do it?" Annabeth asked incredulously.

"Maybe it's my natural good looks and charm," Leo joked.

"The correct answer is me," Calypso intervened. "I wove the Celestial Bronze with MY OWN HANDS, you know. Without me, Leo's nothing."

"Hey!" Leo protested. "I did kinda save the world by defeating Gaea. That counts as something."

"Yeah, and you died. If you didn't have Festus to bring you back to life, you wouldn't have felt like much of a hero." Calypso tossed her long caramel brown braid behind her shoulder.

"Excuse me. Who rescued you from the island that 'no man could ever reach twice?' You should be thanking me."

"I am not a damsel in distress to be saved, Leo Valdez."

"I-"

"As adorable as it is to see you two fight, we need to get going." Percy cut in. "Thanks so much for the boat, guys. But one problem. How will we get to Paris in less than a day by boat? Even with my water powers, it would take us at least a week to get from Long Island to Paris."

"Oh, yeah." Leo's eyes lit up in excitement. "I forgot to tell you. The boat steers itself. And you see that red button? It puts the ship at full speed, powered by Greek fire. The boat should get you to Paris in about the same amount of time it took me to build it."

"Awesome!"

"So now that we know how it works, we should go, Seaweed Brain."

"Then let's go, Annabeth. Bye, Calypso. Bye, Leo." Percy and Annabeth stepped onto the boat and pressed the red button.

"Good luck on your quest," Leo shouted as the boat began to steer them away from the shore, off into the horizon.
