Chapter Three: The USDC?!

"Alright everyone, listen up. We have something very important to tell you." Ms. Drew, the choreographer of the Divine Duets, says, with a hint of sadness to her voice.

Murmurs echo around the room "What could it be?" the kids wonder.

"Four of you have been chosen to compete in Las Vegas..." Miss Vallerie continues, looking back to Ms. Drew excitedly.

Then, together, the two dance instructors scream, "...at the USDCs!!"

Squeals fill the studio. "No way. You're lying. She's lying!" Elise yells, shaking Kimberly by the shoulders.

The Dance Awards is basically the most prestigious dance competition in the world to even get into–let alone win–and Aria just got invited. But something wasn't quite right.

"Wait..." Aria starts, and the whole room goes silent. "You said only four of us were chosen for the USDCs?"

The instructor's faces fall again, as if Aria had said something to ruin the moment. "Yes."

"Well? What are you waiting for? Who are they??" Maya asks excitedly.

"...Jordan Laine," Miss Valerie starts, and continues the list of names slowly. Aria can see Maya's hand reaching for her own, though she hadn't the slightest reason why she might. "...Clara Jonson," The grip of Maya's hand tightens. "...Maya Lepetch," a squeal. "Sadly, the last person on the list had to be changed after last week's... incident."

This was it. Aria had made too big of a mistake, and the TDAs didn't want her anymore.

"And though the final person on the list was originally Erika Valley, we had to change it to..."

Everything she had worked so hard for... gone. Aria would never have another chance to– wait, what? Did they just say–

"...Aria Mornings."
