Can Things Get Worse ?..

"Neji please. Go away."

I felt him put his hand on my back, and rubbed in circles.

"Well too bad, I'm not Neji."

I widen my eyes in shock.

"Naruto ?"

**

I turned around quickly meeting his dimmed blue eyes in the semi dark room. The only thing that made the room not so dark, was his smile. I couldn't help but blush, only to hide my face onto the pillow.

"Shouldn't you be in school?" I asked, but my voice muffled by the pillow.

"Why am I so cool?.. Well there are a lot of reason actually-"

"What? No that's not what I-"

I looked at him confused before I had cut him off to correct him, but I was met with an amused smirk on his face.

It took me several second to realize that he was just kidding, and I couldn't help, but giggle at his sad attempt of a joke.

"I know what you said, Hinata. I saw that you weren't in school, so I came all the way here to check up on you. Oh and don't worry about the others."

Why is he so sweet !?

I couldn't contain my blush, but then Neji's words came into play and ruined my moment.

"You are nothing but a child that have gotten them self in a huge situation that they can't get out on their own."

In other words, he was telling me that I am too dependent on others.. On Naruto.

I shook my head to relieve myself of my thoughts.

"I've seen the was you cling to him Hinata."

Then I put my hands on his chest, in an attempt to push him away from me.

"N-Naruto, you can't keep doing this to me."

"Doing .. what?"

"Checking up on me! You.. need to stop, because-"

"Because Neji told you to.."

He got up, but since my hands were still on his chest, my body fell forward to the edge of the bed; I looked up at him.

"Did Neji tell you to stay away from me? You don't have to listen to him, you know."

"No.. I mean he did, but that's not it at all!"

"Then what! I thought we agreed that you wouldn't shut me out anymore!"

"I'm not shutting you out! It's just that.."

There was a pause. I hate myself for doing this to him. He just wants to help.

"If you want me to leave, then all you have to do is say it."

'No. Don't leave me.'

I wanted to say. I wanted to shout.

But..

Is it for the best?

"...."

Naruto turned his back on me, and started to walk out the door.

My heart pounded through my chest for that second, but then it just ached the more he neared the door.

His foot was almost out the door, his body moving as if in slow motion; moving slower than an hour glass, as if giving me some time to make up my mind.

"NO!"

Hanabi's voice rang through my head.

"Meeting new people is a huge thing for you, I want you to be happy."

My head snapped up, and I got up from my bed.

"Naruto wait!!"

I finally have a chance to be happy and I was so close to giving that up.

He turned his head slowly, his eyes glancing at me.

"Please.. stay. I want you here with m-me; by my side"

He turned to fully face his head out the door. And I just knew that it was too late.

"Is it just me... Or did that sound a little like a confession?"

It took me a while to register what he just said, only for my temperature to rise to my face entirely.

I started waving my hands around and started mumbling nonsense, trying my best to tell him that this had nothing to do with a confession, but failing miserably as I went along.

He fully face me, with a face that just couldn't contain any laughter, until he burst out laughing at me.

Then I finally comprehended that all he was doing was messing with me the whole time. I pout at his stupid joke.

"That's not funny!!" I shrieked at him.

"You should have seen your face! 'Nooo don't leave meeee, I neeed youu', like something from a movie." he mocked me in a high pitched voice.

"You're a jerk you know that!"

He laughed some more until he finally calmed down.

"Are you done now?"

"Ok..ok I'm sorry. A terrible joke I know."

"If you're done with your stupidness, I would like for you to know that the police are looking for me."

He turned full on serious, then asked me to tell him all that happened.

After I had explained the current situation to him, we met with Neji in the living room, which had somehow become our meeting place.

Neji and Naruto both scoffed at each other, and all I could do was roll my eyes.

"Okay you two, I know that you guys don't like each other, but you both have one thing in common." I finished, while putting up my index finger."And that is that you both really want to help me."

Their faces soften and they both gave nodding looks of agreement, not for the approval of each other, but for the fact that that is the only thing they both have in common.

Neji started. "As much as I want to, we can't move away."

"Because that would cause suspicion." I half lied, but it was to persuade Neji.

"I get it." Naruto said. "But what do we do? If the police are looking for her, than I'm sure that they won't stop at any cost, since she is their number one suspect."

"Yes, we are aware of that. So when they do get here, we need a brilliant excuse as to why you are here Hinata."

"I thought that we were going to go with the "fact" that you told me that Konoha was a better school for me."

"Well yes, we could go with that."

"But will they buy that story." Naruto asked.

"It's the only excuse that's semi believable." I told him.

For a few seconds no one said anything. Then Naruto broke the silence.

"Oh shit." he breathed out.

"What is it?" I asked.

"The news."

"Fuck." Neji mumbled.

I gasped. Then my heart started to race, and I my body trembled.

"Hinata, calm down, we all should have known that the police would go to a news station to report your absence; besides, we do not know when they would even announce it."

"But that still doesn't help me. I'm not ready for the world to hear that I am a suspect to a murder case."

"And what about our friends."

"I doubt a bunch of teenagers watch the news." Neji stated.

"You'd be surprised." Naruto countered. "And knowing Ino, she would most definitely be watching."

"So we are just going to sit here and wait for the five o' clock news to announce to the whole world that I might have killed someone, which I did, and then every one of our friends knows my true identity and they are going to want some answers." I breathed out all in one nervous and wrecked sentence.

"Well then there are two things that you could do right now." Neji started.

Me and Naruto listened carefully as to what he was going to say next.

"You either wait for them to broadcast your current situation.. Or turn yourself in-"

"TURN MYSELF IN!?!"

"Are you crazy!! After everything that happened, you're giving up now?!" Naruto shouted.

"SHUT UP AND LET ME FINISH!" Neji yelled."Or turn yourself in and lie."

"Lie?" Naruto and I thought in unison.

"Yes. The thing that we have been doing for a while now. Just tell them you had nothing to do with the murder. When they ask questions, just lie to them." Neji explained.

Ok.. Lie to them. I can do that.

I think.

"What if they have proof against her?" Naruto asked.

"A silly photo isn't enough evidence for a murder, unless the picture shows her with a gun in her hand, siting next to the victim, then I doubt they can prove anything."

I thought about it for a moment, carefully making up my mind. I know that in the end, my discission is going to be

A mess.

Whether or not I go, there is still going to be a possibility of me being involved.

"I will go."

"Hinata, whatever happens, I will be by your side." Naruto said, and a small blush crept up to my cheeks, but I calmed myself down.

"No Naruto. I'm not taking you with me. You have to stay here."

"But-"

"She's right, and I'm not saying this for the simple fact that I hate you."

"The feeling's mutual" Naruto commented as he glared.

"Anyways.. Neji is coming with me. I'm going to go down there, answer a few questions, and come back, that simple."

"It is almost a fourteen hour drive, but if we take the train, it will only be seven hours. If we leave now, we should be back by tomorrow afternoon." Neji said as he looked at the time, which read eleven thirty-five.

"Okay, lets go. Naruto please go home and don't worry about me, and keep this a secret." I said the last part with an index finger to my lips with a little wink.

He nodded back, with a smile and a wink of his own.

We left the somewhat small apartment and started walking our separate ways.

Me and Neji were headed to the train station, but before we even started walking, I heard Naruto call my name. As soon as I turned around I was met with a warm embrace, his head on my shoulder as he whispered,

"You better come back."

Again, I blushed and told him a simple "ok" before waving off.

>>>>>>

Me and Neji quickly got off the train and made our way through the small city area. It was around seven o' clock in the morning when we got here, and the streets still seemed somewhat busy. The tall buildings and the sounds of rushing cars bringing back a familiarity of home.

Home.

That word just doesn't sound right anymore.

Well.. Not here anyways.

We took a bus down to the police station, and as we got there, I stopped at the tall glass doors. My heart racing at the fact that there were no take backs.

Neji gave me a reassuring glance before we trudged forward to meet my knew found fate.

We walked through the doors of the fairly sized police station, with a few officers walking around with coffees or water bottles in their hands. Some just chatting and hanging around as if taking a small break from their work.

I walked up to a beautiful woman, that seemed to be in her early twenties. Her creamy like skin shining from the morning rays flowing through the big glass windows. Her short hair, a blueish-purple shade of color, half of it down, while the rest in a neat, tight bun that's positioned on the left side of her head, where she kept a baby-blue flower barrette. Her makeup light and simple as it matched her whole appearance.

She raised her head, and as she saw me walk towards her, her eyes widened.

"You're.. Hinata Hygua."

I gave her a nervous smile, and she quickly told me to follow her.

"I'm already sure you know why you're here and so we have some questions for you. I'm going to take you to a private room, there, you will meet officer Kisame."

I nodded my head as a response, since I didn't trust my voice to do it for me.

As she walked by my side, I looked behind me to see Neji following close behind, and I felt relieved.

She led us to a wooden door and told me to wait onside.

"Don't worry Hinata, I'll be waiting outside this door.

I walked into the small spaced room and sat in the chair that was faced where a small table was set for two people; the chairs facing across from each other. I quickly surveyed my surroundings, only to see the two-way mirror, so I know Neji must be watching.

The door opened to reveal a man with dark skin, skin that almost seemed..

Blue ??

His face was scary looking. It had a scaly and dry texture to his skin. His eyes were squinty, narrow, and small.
Another way to put it: his face almost represented a shark.

"W-what happened to your face?" I asked genuinely curious and creeped out.

"How rude." he said teasingly. His voice almost as scary as his face. "A really nasty fire." he answered simply, and I've never felt more creeped out in my life.

"Now. Shall we begin?"
