Chapter 28

My mind kept replaying last nights events as I stared at my blank ceiling, laying in the comforting silence. It was weird to think that it was Luke I ended up losing my virginity to, but it was anything but a bad choice. It cleared a lot of things up for me and settled a few thoughts, like it made me not even care about Ellis and Cianna anymore or having to keep Luke and I on the down low. I wanted to flaunt whatever we had to the world and I knew he did too. The only thing left to settle was the timing.

Last night after a quick shower together and me yelling at him not to get my hair wet, we hurried back downstairs as if nothing had happened and spent the last hour of the night on the couch surrounded by some old friends with a drink in hand. After they all had left we went straight back upstairs and crashed back in my room with nothing but heavy eyes and tired limbs. I'd woken up with his t-shirt on and my dress thrown to the other side of my room, so I guessed I somehow slipped out of it in the middle of the night.

The sun was peaking through my thin curtains, illuminating my room. I've been lying in bed for about an hour with Luke's head resting on my stomach and his body sprawled out across my bed. He was clinging tight to my side as I ran my fingers through the tips of his tousled hair.

It was early and I knew if I fell back asleep I'd wake up at noon and not have enough time to clean up my trashed house before my parents got back home. But I knew that if I woke up Luke he wouldn't be too happy with me.

As soon as the idea ran through my mind, Luke's body shifted underneath the covers, making me freeze with my actions. His head popped up slightly, then fell back onto my now bare torso from where my shirt had risen up to my waist. He looked back slightly, just enough to catch me eye.

"Hi." He spoke, practically forcing the word out, giving me a sleepy smile.

"Hi." I giggled at his choice of words, watching as he slowly untangled himself from me and moved his head to the pillow next to mine. I turned over to my side, pulling the blanket up to my chin.

He stared between my eyes, blinking slowly as we laid in each others company.

"How are you feeling?" His voice was raspy yet still filled with care. It took me a second to realize what he was asking before I actually gave him an answer. I sighed lightly as he scooted towards me.

"Normal." I said, letting him sling an arm over me. "But sore, I guess." I let out a short laugh, unsure of how I was supposed to feel or if I was supposed to at all. "I feel okay."

"I'm glad." He mumbled, kissing the crown of of head, lingering for a few seconds before pulling back. He rested his head on the pillow, returning back to what felt like a stare off.

"Do you want to do me a favor?" He questioned, propping his head up on his hand.

"What is it?" I replied, smiling as he intertwined his fingers with mine under the blanket.

"Be my girlfriend." He said, my breath instantly hitching. I closed my eyes, shaking my head at his 'favor'.

"What's in it for me?" I squeezed his hand once as his face brightened up.

"Free dinner and having no excuse to not let me kiss you." His teeth caught a hold of his lip, making it seem like he was anxious for my answer even though we both knew I was going to say yes.

"Then I will be your girlfriend, Mr. Luke Hemmings." I nodded my head at him just a second before he wrapped him arms tightly around me, peppering my face with kisses as we both erupted into faint laughter. I was finally able to push him away, sitting up as he rolled onto his back with his arms behind his head.

"Your first duty as my boyfriend, is to help me clean up this house." I stretched my arms over my head and he pulled a not-so-subtle frown.

"Now?" He groaned.

"Right now." I sighed. He gave me a displeased look as I crawled out of bed and trudged towards my drawers. "I know, I don't want to do it either." I told him, searching for a t-shirt and sweats. I peeled off my shirt, tossing it back to Luke who was now sitting up. He caught it easily, his eyes quickly running up my exposed torso.

"If you're going to go like that..." He trailed off, causing me to roll my eyes.

"For a second there you had me fooled that you didn't have a mind that was always in the gutter." I pulled my shirt over my head and tied my sweatpants at my waist.

"Not always!" He protested, tugging the shirt over his head.

"This was your idea anyways." I reminded him, walking into my bathroom to see if I could bring myself to life a bit more. He followed behind me, practically doing the same thing I was.

"Can we eat breakfast first?" He asked, holding his stomach as it grumbled. I glanced over to him as I exited my room, waiting for him to follow.

"Of course." I chuckled, grabbing his hand and pulling him down the stairs that had cups scattered along the steps. "Let's get this cleaned up before my parents have our heads."

I tossed the last bag of cups, plates, and empty bottles of booze into the trash while Luke followed right behind me with another. He closed the lid, clapping his hands together once.

"I'm glad that's over with." He ruffled his hair before we headed back inside, taking mine in his other free hand.

"Where did all the alcohol even come from?" I questioned, pushing my front door open.

"You can blame Ashton for that one." He laughed from behind me. I pulled him towards the couch and sat down, dragging him down with me.

"Of course it would be Ashton." I rolled my eyes and leaned back into the cushions, kicking up my feet on the table in front of me. Luke leaned back with me, throwing an arm behind the back of the couch. I pulled out my phone, checking that my parents weren't going to be back for at least another hour.

"We have an hour." I sighed, looking over to him. He puffed his cheeks then released the air, gripping onto my thigh.

"We can watch a movie." He suggested, raising his eyebrows at me.

"Do you really want to watch a movie or is that just an excuse to make out with me?" I turned my body slightly towards him, a mischievous smile growing on his face.

"You know me so well." He mumbled, leaning into me. I giggled onto his lips and brought a hand to either side of his face as he pushed be back, now hovering over me.

He instantly reattached his lips to mine, becoming obviously eager from how he took the first chance to run his tongue across my bottom lip. He took no shame in running his hands down my sides, stopping at my hips where he lightly pressed into the couch.

We were spending most of our last hour on the couch, keeping out lips intact of course. Our hair became messier and kisses more sloppier with pointless talking in between, mostly into each others lips.

I was now at his side, my legs thrown over his lap and his dangled off the couch, trying to sit up more. His fingers roamed around my hips, finding the end of my shirt, tugging it a few times to get me to raise my arms to take it off. I easily obliged, parting from him and letting him latch onto my collarbone.

My elbows rested on his shoulders and I started pulling at the back of the collar of his shirt, wanting him to take it off. He pulled away from me, looping his fingers around the neck hole. Before he could actually get it over his head, the rattling of keys in the lock of the front door immediately broke us apart.

Without a word, I jolted out of his lap and into my kitchen, shirt in hand, leaving him stranded to talk to my parents who just walked through the front door. I stood beside the fridge, hurrying to get my shirt back over my head.

"Hi, Luke." My mother chimed as I heard her shut the door behind her. He gave them a small wave, trying to make himself seem as if he wasn't just taking off my clothes. "Where's Autumn?" She asked. My heart was still pumping at an unbelievably fast rate and I could only imagine how Luke was feeling.

He glanced over at me from the corner of his eyes, seeing my exhale deeply, giving him a nod.

"She's in the kitchen, she just went to get us drinks." He gave them a thin smile, one that he used when he lied and which was also very convincing. I snatched 2 bottles of water from the pack next to the fridge, making my way back into the living room.

"You're home." I cooed, handing a water to Luke without breaking eye contact from my parents. "How was it?" I asked.

"Crowded, that's for sure." My dad laughed along with my mom as I stood there awkwardly, playing with the hem of my shirt.

I turned to Luke and grabbed onto his forearm, making him stand up beside me, causing him to stumble slightly.

"Well, we're heading off to Luke's for a movie night." I quickly said, walking towards to stairs. "I'm just going to pack a bag." I headed off to my room before my parents could ask anymore questions, shutting the door behind me.

I pressed my back to the white wood, shutting my eyes tightly. We stood in silence for a few moments before Luke's laugh had broken it. A smile crept on my face, now laughing along with him. I opened my eyes, finding him standing in front of me swaying back and forth.

"I swear we weren't down there for an hour." He chuckled, stepping back from me and I walked passed him.

"That's because we weren't." I sighed, flopping down onto my bed. I checked my phone and tossed it towards my pillows. "They came home over half an hour early." I told him, watching as he toyed with the things on my desk.

"Don't you have a bag to be packing?" He spoke, changing the subject. I rubbed my forehead, sitting up and slouching over.

"Can't I just use your clothes?" I whined, sticking out my bottom lip. He came over to me, leaning down and kissing my pouty expression once.

"No." He easily said, ruffling the top of my hair and messing it up even more than it already was. I swatted his hand away as I stood up and threw together an over night bag, urging him out the door, but not without running into my mom first. I sucked in a short breath, waiting for her to speak.

"Is it alright if I grab a few towels from your room?" She questioned, already headed towards my door. I waved her off, muttering a simple 'yes' and rushing down the steps with Luke following behind me.

"I'll be back tomorrow!" I called out, slamming the door behind me, letting out a deep sigh.

"That wasn't stressful." He sarcastically said, pushing my shoulder once.

"God knows what would have happened if they caught us." I groaned.

"I think they'd be happy." He laced his fingers with mine, swinging out hands back and forth. I scoffed playfully, looking up at him.

"You think they'd be happy to see my shirtless and practically on top of you?" I laughed, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Okay, maybe not too happy about that, but the have always wanted us together." He gave me a soothing smile, a comforting one which I couldn't help but give back. I looked down at my feet, kicking the gravel on the sidewalk and we got closer to his house.

"You know my favorite part about this?" I suddenly asked, peering back up at him.

"What?"

"I said I wanted to take this slow so we had a smaller chance of getting caught, but here I am, walking hand in hand with my new boy friend, who happens to be my best friend, and who I just so happened to have sex with last night." I explained, practically rambling. Luke leaned his head back the slightest bit, his laugh running through my ears.

"That has a nice ring to it." He replied, making me wonder as to what part he was actually referring to, but I didn't bother to ask. We ran across the street that connected our two neighborhoods, laughing about nearly falling over from our hands being tangled together. He let out a deep sigh as we continued down a cement trail.

"You okay?" I questioned, watching a faint smile reappear on his lips.

"I'm just happy." He told me, staring down to me.

"And why's that?" I giggled, now stopped at the end of his driveway. He brought a single fingers under my chin and leaned into me, barely pressing his lips to mine. He drew back, his hand falling from my chin and grabbing onto my other free hand. He slowly intertwined our fingers and reconnected his stare with mine.

"Because you make me happy."
