e l e v e n | Morning Coffee & My Daily Dose Of Near Death

Zane was a morning person. I was not. I know, artsy girl seems to stereotypically like to wake up early. Well here's the reality folks I don't. Especially after recently drowning.

I stumbled into the kitchen in my embarrassing puppy pyjamas and poured myself some coffee. Zane, Lloyd, and Garmadon stared wide-eyed at my fashion choice.

I barely registered their existence as I frantically worked to get caffeine into my system.

I turned with the mug in my hands to see everyone watching me. "G'morning." I mumbled, snatching a croissant from the serving tray.

Koko smiled warmly but also gave me an egg on a plate. Ugh, who wants protein?

"Hello Gwen." Wu greeted me. "You have a interesting choice in night wear.

I was to tired to be embarrassed so I just raised an eyebrow and nibbled on my croissant, slyly sliding the egg onto Zane's plate.

"As you know Zane and I figured out the riddle." Wu continued. "And I've been able to locate the area."

"Really?" That made me more awake. I shook the rest of the foggiest out of my head. "Where?"

"By a yoga studio." Reagan answered like it was the most normal thing in the world as she nudged Lloyd out of the way to take a strawberry from the bowl.

I furrowed my brow. "Am I missing something?"

"About two years ago we had an attack by some of dad's old evil generals who were angry about him launching them out of a volcano." Lloyd explained. "A bomb triggered during the battle. Dad and I were trapped in the mech that was about to explode and Reagan drove my dragon into the giant mech to save us. She could've died and was close to being in an eternal coma. Thankfully she woke."

I noticed his hand slip to Reagan's, she gave him a small smile.

"So where do praying mantisesis...ziz...come into thises?" I asked getting tongue tied on the stupid word praying mantisesis....dammit.

"Well the mech was designed with inspiration from a praying mantis." Lloyd explained.

"So you think that maybe that's where the clue is?"

"Not exactly, it says travel by storm." Zane recalled. "The generals and the pieces of the destroyed mech are on an secured island with lots of security. We will be able to get through security but the generals may not want us there."

"And it's a storm because...?" I placed my plate in the dishwasher.

"The current that leads there is called The Storm Channel, a fast moving and dangerous current and apparently your grandmother wants us to take it." Zane told me.

"And conveniently the weather isn't the greatest as well as some mysterious people seem to be after us." Wu continued. He raised a white eyebrow. "Do you have any idea who tried to kill you?"

"Gee, do I have any idea who attempted to murder me?" I said sarcastically. "If I knew that do you think I'd be eating my breakfast la-dee-da and never tell you?"

"That was not necessary." Zane  frowned.

I rolled my eyes. "Lloyd this may be bigger than we thought, can you call the ninja?" Wu asked.

Lloyd blinked. "What do you think is wrong?"

"I'm not sure but someone managed to find that tunnel to the tomb." Wu said grimly.

"Gwendolyn , you better get ready." Zane told me.

Reagan jumped up as well. "I'm coming too."

Lloyd looked hesitant. "Are you sure? The generals won't be keen on seeing us but they really won't like seeing you."

"But I'm apart of the sacrifice!" She objected.

Wu shook his head. "We already have a big enough team, thank you Reagan but I think it will be best if you stayed. Why don't you play video games or crochet a hat?"

She frowned. "What? Crocheting is a very nice hobby." Wu told her. "I will let you borrow my golden crochet needles." Then he left.

She sighed and gave Lloyd a hug. "Stay safe." She told him.

He smiled. "I will, I'm totes profesh."

"Sure." Reagan gave him a quick kiss before leaving.

Garmadon made a gagging noise before departing for his room.

"Gwendolyn?" Zane turned his attention to me.

"Just a second." I downed the coffee before sputtering. "Ugh, I hate coffee." I muttered before dropping the mug in the sink and leaving.

"Then why did you drink it?" Zane asked in confusion.

******

Since we were going on a boat and on a potentially dangerous battle mission to steal something I made sure to where something practical.

I wore my sneakers since I didn't when any other shoes other then some flats. Some black leggings because they were easy to move in and dark. Then I put on a dark blue tank and a black jacket for warmth and because it was water
proof.

I pulled my hair in a low bun and because I wanted to be fancy I out a small twisted braid in it as well.

I dug around in my bag and found grandmas old locket. I did the clasp before slipping in my utility knife I stole from Riley. You never know.

Garmadon and Koko left with a smile and wave as I entered the kitchen. Zane was in his gi and was collecting weapons casually infer the same counter we ate our breakfast on. He handed me a knife to hide in the inside pocket of my jacket, a shuriken, and a dagger.

"Wow..." I had never gotten my hands on so many weapons in my life. This is freaking awesome.

"Come on we need to meet the others at the docks." Zane said. Suddenly I heard a strange noise.

"Zane..." I began to say as bomb went off an exploded.

Zane tackled me behind the kitchen counter and held me a giant him as the debris flew. I yelled when another one went off and the counter smashed to pieces. Zane shot out a hand and an ice wall formed giving us cover.

Suddenly I realized the ground was giving away. The bomb must've taken out some of the support and maybe even some incident people's lives.

"Zane!" I warned him when the ground gave away under us. I tucked into a ball and kept my head down, hoping and praying that it wasn't to far and I could just roll from impact. I slammed into half destroyed hardwood, my position doing me good in preventing me from dying and breaking an ankle or arm but I still go a good bruise on my hip.

"Ugh." I groaned, coughing as dust flew.

"Gwendolyn?" Zane called. I peered through the destroyed furniture.

"I'm here." I got to my feet and carefully stepped stupidly over the unsteady ground.

Zane appeared and looked grim. "It seems the mysterious potential murderers are going through great lengths." He said.

He pressed a finger to some sort of communicator in his ear. It would've been cool if I wasn't thinking about how it looked like he was just sticking a finger in his ear. Also, does the communicator get ear wax on it? Do nindroids produce ear wax?

"We're fine." Zane said to the team. "We'll be on our way it will just take a moment, yes we will be careful. Maybe send someone over."

When we made it to the window Lloyd had arrived as the green ninja on his dragon mech. He tried to open the window but managed to take the whole thing off and dropping it a few stories.

He gave a guilty look before helping me across. I perched on the dragon and tried to hold back my screams as we flew.

"What about Zane's ice mech?" I noticed it safely in the half destroyed parking lot.

"This is going to be a mission with only one mech." Lloyd told me.

  "Why?"

"Well Zane's can't even go through water unless he freezes it which may not be good for the fish. Anyway, it's more stealthy so we Nya is going to be the only one bringing a mech." Lloyd explained.

"Is that a good idea? Also who's Nya?" I asked.

"Dark haired girl? And it will be fine, we're ninja, we do this all the time. Well we've only down a few without mech's but most of us have elemental powers and hand to hand combat." Lloyd said.

"Alright, did you see who bombed the place?" I leaned over the side a little just to watch the buildings rush by.

Zane sighed. "No sign of anyone, I did a scan."

"There's the bounty." Lloyd pointed.

  "Wait, it can fly?"
