5-Back to the House
My eyes burned as I opened them so I closed them again. I tried to put my arm Aisha as I turned around but nothing was there. My eyes widened but then I closed them again when I saw Aisha brushing her hair on the side of the bed.
"I just saw you open your eyes! Get up!"
"Why?" I leaned over and stretched my arms to pull her down onto the bed. I felt her land on top of me and then opened my eyes.
"Aneel! I swear I am gonna kill you!"
"No you won't," I said with a small laugh. I kissed the top of her head and then she sat up and smiled at me. My eyes followed her hands as they grabbed the pillow beside me. "No."
"If you don't get up, then you'll be kissing Mr.Pillow." With a smirk, she lifted the pillow above her head and I rolled off the bed. Standing up, I pulled down my vest that folded up to my chest.
"Could have at least made it a female."
"Why? Thinking off kissing another woman other than me?" she said with a smirk. I leaned down and kissed the tip of her nose.
"I would never do that to you. Now come on, why do I have to get ready?"
"Have to go to my mum's house. Remember when the bride has to go home after a day and stay there with her husband?"
I sighed and scratched the back of my neck. "I can go, but I can't stay. I have to go work tomorrow. They allowed me to take off Thursday and Friday but not anymore." She frowned.
"But you have to stay. It's the tradition."
"I can't," I said as I closed my eyes. Stay calm.
"You have to!"
"I said I can't didn't I?!" Aisha closed her mouth. She put one of my shirts that was hanging back inside the cupboard. I'm guessing she wanted me to wear that.
"Then you might as well not go then. No one is gonna let you go if you go. It's better you stay here."
"Aisha..." I saw her shake her head and then watched as she tried to leave the room. "Aisha, listen. I'm sorry, okay? I'll tell you what. How about I go there and take my clothes and I can leave for work from there."
"You don't have to do that. Just stay here, or I'll tell them we will come next week."
"No. I'm gonna go." I pushed the sliding door to the side and took out the shirt she ironed. I looked at it closely and smiled. "Did you buy this? I know what everyone else go for me and I don't remember this."
She blushed slightly and then hugged the side of my body. "I did." I put an arm around her and kissed the top of her head. "You can change it if you don't like it."
"No. I was gonna get these kind of shirts."
She looked up at me and I pushed the hair out from her face. I put the shirt down and put my hands on her waist.
"I'm so sorry about this morning and yesterday. I just...I'm used to being on my own." She smiled at me and buried her head in the crook of my neck. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay." I heard her sigh and then softly kissed her neck. "Your beard tickles." I moved my face around her neck and she laughed loudly, pushing me away. "Stop."
"No." She slowly moved back, leaving the room. She shook her head with a laugh and carried on walking down the hall. With a smirk, I ran after her and twirled her around.
"Aneel! Put me down!" she screamed while laughing. As soon as I set her down on the floor, she leaned up and kissed me. "Will you stop it now?"
"Maybe," I whispered before I connected our lips. "I'll make you a deal. Whoever makes the best pancakes today gets to do whatever they want to the other."
"Like a dare?" She grinned at me. I knew how much she loved her dares.
"If you want it to be, babe."
"Babe is a new one." With that beautiful smile of hers, she ran her fingers through my hair. "But you know I can't make pancakes."
"Then I guess I will win." She rolled her eyes and walked away from me to which I followed. "Stop walking away from me."
She stood at the counter and reached into the cupboard to get the bread. "Aneel, can you get that for me?" I rested my head on her shoulder and wrapped my arm around her. "Please, Aneel?"
"Hmm...I thought we were having a pancake competition?"
"That's not fair." I turned her around and she laughed again. "What is wrong with you today?"
I pulled a face and pulled her in closer. "Am I not allowed to be spontaneous? Or just love you and spoil you rotten?" She just smiled at me and I sighed. I pushed her open hair back and smiled. "You are so beautiful, you know? It's true what they say about a woman's hair is one of her true beauties. Even when you keep it covered up, you truly look remarkably beautiful." She opened her mouth to say something but I covered it with my hand. "Nope."
"I think it will be a good idea if you go and brush your teeth," she said with a laugh. I felt the heat rise on my cheeks as I stepped away from her. All that time I was talking, she was smelling my morning breath. She leaned up and kissed my burning cheek. "It's fine. Yours isn't that bad. Now go and freshen up and I will make you breakfast. How about a big breakfast?"
"That sounds good. I will be back after a bit and help you." I quickly walked away, embarrassed.
