29- Sunrise
It was now almost ten and Aneel still hadn't called me. To say I was worried was an understatement. Why hasn't he called? Not even a message!
I smiled at my friend once before I raised the phone to my ear. Pick up! After it went to voicemail, I rung him again. I needed to know if he was okay.
"I'm trying to spend quality time with my mum after twenty years and you keep bugging me! Fucking hell, Aisha, what the hell do you want?" I quickly lowered down the volume so no one would hear anything but I guess I was a bit too late since my friend raised her eyebrow at me.
"Nothing, I just wanted to make sure you were fine. I'm sorry I disturbed you," I quickly whispered before hanging up.
"What crawled up his ass?"
"Stop it, Beth." She scoffed and moved her son to her other lap.
"No. You worry about him all day and he tells you you're disturbing him? Nah, mate."
"He's going through a tough time right now."
"You know what? It's okay if he doesn't need you with him because sometimes doing it alone is far better but that doesn't mean you take it out on your spouse. Fuck sake, Aisha, does he do that all the time?" I took her son from her and frowned.
"Swearing is not good." He giggled and then stuffed his chubby finger back into his mouth. "He's sweet. Trust me when I say he is a loving guy. He really cares for me and makes me happy and I couldn't ask for anything more. It's only been a few times where he did this but we talk it over after."
She sadly smiled and got up. She held her son again and walked out. I looked around the room for my jacket and found it on the sofa beside me. After I had got all my stuff, I walked into the kitchen to find Beth putting her son in a chair.
"Beth? Listen, I'm gonna go now. You should go to sleep, you're so tired."
"Seriously, I'm fine. How you gonna go?"
"Train?" She rolled her eyes before picking up her phone.
"Let me call Kevin-"
"No. I'm gonna by myself. Let Kevin hang out with his friends." I quickly kissed her cheek before leaving the house. I walked down the street towards the train station but stopped when I saw a coffee shop. I needed something to keep me awake and warm. I had my phone in my hand as I bit my lip.
Do I call him? I inhaled as I raised the phone to my ear. It didn't take that long for him to answer. "What the hell is it now?"
I kicked a stone in my way and sighed. "Just letting you know that I'm gonna home now. I have the keys so it's fine. Just thought-"
"What do you mean you're going home?"
"You're with your mum and so I don't want you to end the day because of me. I checked how to get home and it's about three trains from here. Taking a cab will take too long and will be too expensive. It took us almost three hours to come here and imagine what it will be like when I go back. And plus, I saw that they are closing down one of the roundabouts at around ten anyways. You stay and-"
"No, I'm coming. Just do me a favour and wait in the cafe that's near your friend's house. Know which one I'm talking about?"
"I'm outside it now. But don't be silly, Aneel. Spend time with your mum. Don't let me come in between." I walked into the dimly lit cafe. There weren't that many people here but I still went and got a table at the far corner. A waitress smiled at me before sliding over the menu.
"You already did. I'm coming in half an hour. Wait inside and buy something if you need to. You're already ill as it is, don't need you spreading your germs." I was about to respond but then heard the line go dead. A small smile settled on my face as I scanned over the menu. He still cares even though he was angry. That must mean something, right?
"You want to hear our specials or got something on your mind?"
"Sure, why not. What are your specials?" She smiled at me.
"Depends on what you're feeling. Breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert?"
"Urm, dinner please. Missed out on that. Actually, I like lunch stuff for dinner so can I hear them please?"
"Sure thing, sweety. We have a chicken grill which is just grilled chicken, chips and salad. Then we have the basic jacket potato with the choice of three toppings. And then we have our beef, chicken or vegetable lasagne with roast potatoes, salad and vegetables. Still interested or want the menu?"
I drummed my fingers on the table and sighed. "I hate making decisions. Can I have a few minutes please?"
"Want anything to drink while you make up your mind?"
I quickly turned over the menu and looked at the drinks. "Can I have a bottle of water and a cup of coffee please? No milk."
"Alright, I'll get that for you." She smiled at me before turning around. She came back two minutes later with my drinks and asked if I wanted to order now. I still hadn't made up my mind so I just sent her away again. I looked up at the door when I heard the bell chime. Aneel looked around the cafe before setting his eyes on me. I saw his shoulders slump slightly and I knew he just sighed. His hand ran through his hair as he walked over.
"Come on." He just stood above me, hands in his pockets. I looked down at my coffee and then back at him. "Seriously, Aisha? Take that to go, you can drink it in the car."
"But I'm hungry."
"Then you can eat when you go home." I heard my stomach rumble and shook my head. "You made me leave my mum for you for you not to even get up? You fucking serious?" I bit the inside of my cheek so I wouldn't say anything to him. He's going through a rough time. "Aisha!"
"No, okay! I'm starving because I didn't eat all day other than breakfast. It's almost ten thirty and I'm gonna eat. I was too busy worrying about you that I didn't have the appetite to eat. So you can go home and leave me if you want. Just go back to your mum and I'll call you when I'm done. Or I'll just take the train like I said. They're not full of mean husbands who scream at you when you're worried sick about them." I know the last bit wasn't necessary but I had it with his snapping. He narrowed his eyes at me for a few seconds before he sighed and sat down opposite me.
"Your cold is getting worse." He looked down at his hand. You could hear that I was ill since my nose was blocked. He reached for the water bottle and drank half of it before closing it again. "Excuse me, can we have another water bottle and cup of coffee, please?"
"Milk?"
"No thank you." I grabbed the sugar from the side and measured three spoons before stirring it. "Why so much sugar?"
I shrugged my shoulders, not looking at him. I heard him sigh but still didn't look up. The waitress came over with his cup of coffee and set it down beside him. She looked over at me and smiled. "Husbands ey? You were so happy before he came in," she said with a laugh. "Ready to order?" I nodded my head with a laugh. Aneel took the menu off me and quickly looked at it before closing it.
"You have halal food?"
"Yes, everything is halal in here. We don't serve pork here either."
"In that case, can I have a pizza with chicken, olives, sweet corn, jalapeños, pineapples and can you make it thin crust for me, please?" Aneel said. The lady noted that down and looked over at me.
"Can I have the beef lasagne, please?"
"Alrighty, anything else?"
"Yeah, can I have two portions of chips please? And garlic bread. And some chicken salad as a side and change the Parmesan cheese to feta cheese please. She doesn't like Parmesan." He looked over the menu once again and sighed. "And can I have the side of mushrooms please?"
"Sure. Is that all?" Aneel looked up at me. I shook my head and she started to repeat the order.
Once she walked away, Aneel picked up the desert menu. "You haven't eaten anything since we left the house?"
"No."
"Did you take your medicine after breakfast?"
"No. I didn't eat so I couldn't."
"Are you upset with me?" He was fiddling around the end of the menu but I knew his ears were perked up to hear the slightest form of answer.
"No." I dropped my hands on the table and he didn't waste a second till he captured them in his. "Aneel, I'm not upset with you."
"I'm sorry..." he whispered. He leaned forward and sighed. "I shouldn't have spoken to you like that. And I know I keep doing it but I promise I'll try and stop. I'm so sorry, Aisha."
"Don't be. I shouldn't have called you and messaged you so many times. You were with your mum and I should have given you the space you needed. So I'm sorry." He shook his head and stood up. Before I could open my mouth and say anything, he slid into the booth beside me. His arm went around my shoulder and pulled my head down on his shoulder.
"I missed you today," I heard him mumble. I looked up at him and he was frowning. I saw him start to smirk and knew he was up to something. He leaned in closer, his lips brushing against my own. "I'm gonna kiss you now." I didn't even have the chance to lean back as his hand went to the back of head, pulling me in. It was a short kiss but even after that I was struggled to breathe. He practically just cut off my air supply! "I really am sorry," he whispered. He pecked my lips before doing the same to my head. "I keep hurting you."
"Stop it, Aneel. It's fine. I was just worried about you." He slowly moved his arm away and lifted up the sugar. I watched him only put one in and cringed. That would be way too strong.
"I saw her and I started crying- at the doorstep. She held me in her arms and it was as though nothing ever changed. It was as though I was a child again and at the moment, I wanted nothing more than for her to hold me forever."
I took a sip of my coffee and leaned in closer to him. He turned around with a faint smile on his face. I smiled back and ran a hand through his hair. "I'm glad you're happy."
"And I'm glad you're here with me. If it wasn't for you then I wouldn't have went. And thank you for pushing me to do it by myself." He pecked my lips again and I frowned.
"Stop it. There are people here."
"So? And plus, you can't see shit from where they're sitting. Don't act as though you don't like the kisses. You love them really," he whispered as he kissed me again.
"Sometimes I question whether I married a man or a pervert." I dropped my hand from his hair to behind his neck. "I love you." He smiled at me and kissed the top of my head.
"I love you too. But I missed you a lot today. Every time I turned around, I was ready to give you a kiss or to put my arm around you. Probably see you smiling up at me and dreaming about how wonderful and awesome I am." With a smirk, he raised his cup to his lips. He took serval sips and then set it down on the table. "Am I right or am I right?"
"Shut up, Aneel. Just drink your coffee."
He patted my knee and smirked. Oh god, he really was up to something. His hand travelled up to my thigh where he gave it a squeeze. We sat there is silence, each drinking our own coffee. Five minutes passed and I put the empty cup down. Aneel's hands were still on my thigh and they hadn't moved a single bit. I felt his fingers drum on the inside of my thigh and saw him smirking into his cup.
"Aneel," I warned. He looked over at me innocently.
"I'm not doing anything, baby. Just appreciating the wonderful body my wife has. And if she lets me then I'll get to show her how much I love her body tonight." He leaned in closer and started whispering. "Let's just keep this between us. Don't want my wife finding out, she tends to get quite jealous."
"I don't!" He squeezed my thigh before patting it and letting go. I elbowed him and he groaned, spilling a little bit of coffee on him. I quickly grabbed the tissues and started wiping it away when he suddenly gripped onto my wrist. When I looked up at him, his jaw was locked and his eyes were narrowed. "Don't you dare touch me. Keep your hands away from that area." My mouth slightly opened and I soon began laughing. He groaned once again and pushed my hands away. "Stop it. You have no idea what you do to me, do you?" he mumbled.
"You need some release?" He glared at me as he wiped away the coffee.
"Shut it. You ain't gonna give it to me so stop teasing."
I raised my hands in the air with a laugh. He mostly got it when he wanted because let's just say, if there is a man with a perfect body in front of you..."you'll have to wait and see, Aneel."
"Stop! That's so not fair." Aneel got up and sat back opposite me. "I'm keeping my distance for now."
So that's how it was for the next ten minutes. Aneel didn't talk to me for the first five and always shouted at me whenever I bit my lip or took out my Vaseline to put on. I laughed at him but he only got more annoyed. It was only when I started asking questions about his mum did he relax and start talking.
"Here you go, husband and wife," the waitress said with a smile. She put our food down and I immediately started eating. I slowly pulled one portion of chips towards me as Aneel looked at me.
"I got that for you anyways. Here, here is your salad that you love so much. And some mushrooms. Only take half, I want the rest. I like my mushrooms." He leaned over and held my hand. "I'm sorry about today."
"Shh, it's time to eat. And I told you it was fine so stop it now."
//Aneel
I looked up at Aisha was now silently eating her food. A smile settled on my face when I saw her smiling to herself. To be honest, I felt like such a jerk. She helped me meet my mum today and all I did was throw back at her. The first thought I had when she said she didn't eat was that she was going to go back to starving herself. I don't know what I would have done if she did.
I looked down at my empty plate and sighed. I eat quite quickly but she always ate so slowly. When I mean slow, I mean slow. There was this one time I went out with her before we got married, with her family though, and she had to resend the plate to get reheated before she could carry on. She didn't want to at first but I insisted since she wasn't enjoying cold chicken.
"Can you eat this for me, please?" she said while pushing over the rest of her chips.
"No, that's yours."
"Please? I need space for the waffles. Look how awesome they look." She opened up the desert menu onto the waffles and I couldn't lie, they did look pretty amazing. I nodded my head and she picked up her fork with a smile.
I slowly ate the chips as I watched her eat. I know that would have looked creepy but she was just so beautiful. Once I was finished, I took out my phone and responded to the messages that I had piled. Most of them were from the guys and Carly asking how the visit went with my mum. And then I finally opened up the messages from Aisha and frowned. It was her asking what was happening and her repeatedly saying how worried she was and if I was okay.
I looked up at her again and saw she was almost finished. With a smirk, I opened up snapchat and started to take pictures and videos of her. She didn't look up once.
Knowing that she would be finished in a couple of bites, I went up and sat beside her. She raised the fork to my mouth but I shook my head. She frowned slightly but kept it near my mouth. I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth, starting to chew on the cold potato. She grinned and took her last couple of bites of her lasagne.
"Babes, I was thinking we could do something tonight."
She glared at me and raised the bottle of water to her lips. "I already told you."
"No! Although that would be very kind of you for us to do that tonight, baby. But I was talking about taking the sofa into the balcony and just lying down there. You said you wanted to look up at the stars one day and I guess that's the closest we can get to. We're pretty high up and so it'll be good. And we manage to stay up till sunrise, we can watch that too."
"Well isn't someone romantic today," she said with a giggle. She tilt her head to face me and smiled. I pecked her lips before putting an arm around her.
"Any woman would be lucky to have a husband this romantic. So shut it and we'll do it."
"You keep getting more and more romantic as the seconds go by," she said whilst patting my chest. She lay her head down on my chest. I kissed the top of her head and heard her sigh. "I don't feel like desert anymore. Can we just go home?"
"Of course we can, babes." I raised my hand up and the waitress slowly came over from the table that had just come in. She was still writing down something in the notebook. "Can we have the bill, please?"
"Of course, hun. Card or cash?"
"Card please."
"Will be back in a minute. We give away some chocolate at the end, so you have the choice of milk, white, dark, mint or orange."
"That's not fair! How do I choose between all of them," Aisha said with a frown. She straightened up and sighed. The waitress laughed and shook her head.
"Don't tell anyone, I'll get you two of each." She quickly went away, leaving Aisha with a smile on her face.
"I'm paying," she said. She quickly put her hand in my pocket and took out my wallet. "Don't even argue with me. You don't let me pay for anything."
"Aisha, give it back, I'm paying." She tucked her arm away and I rolled my eyes. "Aisha."
"No." Her being small, she quickly crawled over me and got out the booth. I stood up and held her back, hands secured at her waist. She raised her arm and just before I could reach up to it, she brought it back down, stretching it in front of her. "I'm paying!" The waitress came out of the kitchen and widened her eyes at us. She slowly walked over and Aisha quickly took the machine off her hand and put her own card in. With a groan, I let her go and listened to her giggle. "I'm paying."
"I'm paying," I mimicked her. Aisha held the tray of chocolate in her hand before opening one up and bringing it to my lips.
"It's white chocolate. Your favourite," she whispered. I opened my mouth and took the little square in. Still not looking at her, I picked up her bag from the floor along with her jacket. She didn't take it off me but instead put her hands behind my neck with a giggle. "Why you so grumpy for?"
"Shut up."
"I paid." She giggled again and I couldn't hide the smile anymore. I looked at her and chuckled softly. Wrapping my arms around her, I heard she giggle again. Why was her giggling so beautiful?!
"You have no idea how much I love you." I kissed her cheek before letting go. "Here, your royal highness, jacket." She kissed my cheek and took her stuff from my hand. After double checking she had everything, and the chocolate, she held my hand and started to walk away. I pulled her back beside me and put an arm around her as I kissed her cheek. "Beautiful."
"You need glasses, Aneel."
"I have them. And I can confirm you get more and more beautiful when I can see in HD. You need to start believing it, Aisha." She wrinkled her nose and stepped out. I forced a smile at her before unlocking the car. Why couldn't she believe how beautiful she really was?
"I'm driving. You can rest now."
"Don't be silly, Aisha, I can still drive us home." She snatched the keys off me and I shook my head with a smile. What was up with her today?
"In the car." Knowing I wouldn't be able to get anywhere, I walked over to the passenger side and got in. Aisha smiled sweetly at me and started the car. I let out a yawn and then widened my eyes. I hadn't realised how tired I really was. "Told you," she sang. Once she had the address in her phone, she reversed back and started driving.
"When did you start getting so controlling?"
"This is how it is from now, babe," she said. I shook my head with a laugh, looking at her. "What? Just being honest."
"God, you crack me up. You keep coming out and I swear you will love more of our time together."
"Do you make everything sound so creepy?" She glanced over at me quickly before joining the motorway. I shrugged my shoulders and then pulled the seatbelt so it was more comfortable. "Going to sleep?"
"Maybe. Will you be upset if I do?"
"No. Go to sleep. I'l call you if I get too tired so you can talk to me." She stopped at a traffic light and turned to me. I took that chance to give her kiss. I would never pass a chance to kiss her. Never.
"I love you," I whispered. She kissed me again before looking back at the red lights.
"I love you too. But you should sleep now."
"Yes. Need my energy for when we go home, right?" I said wiggling my eyebrows. She rolled her eyes and started driving again.
"Wait and see, Aneel."
"No baby, I think I'll be doing a lot of feeling."
"Only thing your gonna feel is alone when you sleep in the other room. Stop." I leaned back into the seat with a smile.
"Love you, too. Do me a favour and carry on talking to me. I'm not too tired to fall asleep I just need to rest my eyes."
I had my eyes closed for the next three hours as we talked about nonsense. It was just absolute crap. I felt the car slow down and slowly opened my eyes. Home! Aisha leaned over and kissed my cheek. "We're home, Aneel."

I slowly ran my hands down Aisha's waist as I kissed her. She pushed me off and I laughed. It was now around four and we were still awake. Might have done something though...
I picked up my t-shirt from the floor and pulled it over her. "Thanks."
"Well I prefer you without anything but oh well. Now come on, let's go and do that sofa thing like I talked about." She smiled at me before pulling her hair into a bun.
"You sure? Not tired?" I shook my head and kissed her again. "Want me to make a cup of tea? Hot chocolate?"
"With cream and marshmallows?" She nodded her head with a laugh. I cupped her cheek and then leaned down to kiss her. "You're so beautiful," I whispered. I saw her blush and a smile settled on my face. "So, so beautiful. If only you knew how much then you would truly understand."
"Stop it, Aneel..."
"I will never stop telling you how beautiful you look." I kissed her again, watching as she slowly smiled. "Now, don't you have to tell me something?"
She tapped her finger against her chin, looking up. "Not really. There is nothing to say." I reached for her but she quickly crawled away, getting off the bed. "You can't chase me today, can you?"
"You wanna play chase?" I quickly stood and ran towards her. She only got out the door before I wrapped my arms tightly around her. "Got you," I whispered. She giggled and leaned back into my arms. "Can't win chase with me, baby."
"Aneel?" I kissed her cheek and she turned around. She sighed, looking down. "You know how you mentioned having a baby...I think that was just too eager of us. I do want a baby, I really want to start a family with you and I don't care if it's now or later but...I think we need time for ourselves before we have a baby."
I smiled at her before tracing a finger along her cheek. "That's fine, babes. You don't have to be scared to tell me that. I understand what you're saying." She gave me a small smile. "I think I might enjoy a little bit of us time," I said with a smirk. I saw her roll her eyes and then pull down the t-shirt slightly. "What's wrong?"
"I don't have any trousers on..." I quickly picked her up and pulled her over my shoulder. "Aneel!"
"You have underwear on, it's fine. It's gonna be underwear session now." She punched my back several times as I walked to the kitchen. I set her down on the floor and she huffed. Her breath flew past my neck as I wrapped my arms around her. "You've got a nice cute bum, you know?"
"Don't you dare put your hand-" she groaned and looked up at me. "Move your hand." I shook my head with a smile. She huffed again but I only pulled her in more. "You're such a pervert."
"Thanks baby. Now, you have some hot chocolate to make. I'll move the sofa. And this is mine now," I said before I patted her bum. She pushed me away with a scream but I only laughed. "I love you, babes."
"Just go away. And I'm gonna go and put some trousers on."
"No. It's underwear session. No pants. And don't even say anything because your legs will be under the blanket anyways." I leaned down to kiss the top of her head and sighed. "You're beautiful."
***
Aisha tilt her head back to smile at me. I laughed and pecked her lips before looking back in front. She pushed herself up so she her head was under my chin. I sighed and tightened my arms around her. I felt her fingers trace along my arm as I stared up at the sky. You could actually see quite a lot of stars since there weren't that many lights around the area. I looked down at her again and smiled. She was still tracing her finger along my arm, drifting off into her own little world. Her bun that she had tight on top of her head was now almost loose. Taking off the hairband, I let her hair out and ran my fingers through it.
It was almost half six and was still dark. We spent the first half an hour drinking the hot chocolate and messing about. And again, we just talked about nonsense. It was an hour in when we started to settle down but the she started to take pictures so that turned everything crazy again. Aisha was one of the types that would do anything to get slips of anyone. Anything!
It was then when she realised that I put the pictures of her eating on snapchat. Yeah...might have bruises for that tomorrow. To be honest, she is quite aggressive when she wants to be. Not that I don't mind because it's only banter and plus, she can't really hit that hard so I guess it's all okay.
She kissed my bare chest and I looked down at her. "This is nice," she whispered. I pulled the blanket around her tighter. "Thank you."
"It's fine, my love. Anything to see you smile." She looked up at me, putting her head onto her hands which were folded across my chest. "Yes?"
"Why do you always give me your clothes?"
"Because I like you wearing my clothes. You look cute."
"Is it like your fetish or something?" she asked innocently. I chuckled, running a hand through her hair.
"Yeah, babe, it's my fetish." For someone with a maths degree, she could be quite stupid. Actually, stupid is a bit harsh, let's use gullible. Yes, my wife is very gullible.
"Sunrise is in ten minutes. We're gonna watch it."
"We are."
"And I'm gonna lie down on top of you like this." She lay her head flat against my chest and moved so she was only on half of me. Her leg draped over one of mine before entwining with the other. "And then you're gonna tell me you love me and then sunrise will begin."
With a smile, I leaned my head on top of hers. One of my hands settled on her thigh and the other on her waist. "I love you."
She giggled and looked up at me. "I know." I shook to head with a smile and felt her kiss my neck. "I love you too."
