Adding to the Arsenal

Okay, OKAY. So last chapter you were all like "FIRE THE CANONS!" See what I did there? Yang would be proud. So you want a canon romance. Okay, that's fine. But who should I place in the cannon to fire at you? No? Bad analogy. Got it. Point is: WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE YOUR ROMANCE? FYI, NOT DOING A HAREM UNLESS EVERYONE WANTS A HAREM.

GO CHECK OUT MY NEW STORY. "THE BLACK MAIDEN.' PLEASE, IT NEEDS READS AND IT'S WRITTEN IN A NEW AND UNIQUE WAY. THANK YOU.

---(Y/N)---

I leaned against the wall in the ballroom, thinking to myself like I always do. Ruby, Weiss, and Yang were all prepping the ballroom for the dance. Well, Yang and Weiss were. Ruby was sulking at one of the circular tables. Can't say I blame her, though. Despite my unending wisdom, Blake was still hitting the books. No, that's an understatement. She's mutilating and raping the books. She's still set in that heroic mindset, same as Jaune was. It's fine. Worse comes to worst she'll just learn the hard way.

A slamming noise broke me from my thoughts. Looking towards Ruby's table, I saw Weiss there smiling, a white cloth under either hand. "I need you to pick a tablecloth."

"Aren't they both the same?" Ruby and I asked at the same time. I was too quiet to be heard, however. Weiss scoffed, crushing one of the cloths in her right hand.

"I don't even know why I asked!"

"Pilot, according to scans, the first cloth was White (No. 282) while the second shade was (OC-117)."

"And you know this why?"

"I did not program the information myself, pilot." I turned my attention back to Ruby and noticed Yang there.

"So - have you picked out a dress yet?" She asked Ruby. The girl in question, who was currently sitting with her head down turned it to look in her sister's direction.

"What's the point? Who cares about the dance if Blake isn't going?"

"Oh don't worry; She's going," Yang reassured her. Suddenly, she turned away with an annoyed look on her face. "Weiss! I thought we agreed! No doilies!" Weiss quickly stomped up to her pointing a finger to the taller girl.

"If I don't get doilies, you don't get fog machines!" The large double doors on the other side of the room opened to reveal Sun and Neptune.

"Your dance is gonna have fog machines?" The blue-haired one asked. And queue the jazz.

"We were thinking about it," Weiss said, her hands held in front of her.

"That's pretty cool." Neptune flashed a smirk at the heiress.

"You ladies all excited for dress up?" Sun asked, walking up next to his friend.

"Pfff. Yeah right." Ruby raised her head briefly from her hand before placing it back.

"Laugh all you want. I'll be turning heads tomorrow night." Yang smirked, crossing her arms.

"What are you two wearing?" Weiss asked, looking at the two newcomers.

"Psh, uh, this." Sun gestured to his open white buttoned-down shirt and jeans. Neptune stepped in front of him.

"Ignore him, for he knows not what he says."

"Hey, I might have moved to Mistral, but I grew up in vacuo." Sun thumbed at himself. "It's not exactly a shirt and tie kind of place."

"Yeah, we've noticed," Yang said, a much less entertained look on her face. Sun then appeared to grow nervous, evident as he rubbed the back of his head.

"So, uh, what does Blake think of all this? She still bein' all, you know . . . Blake-ey?"

"Obviously," Weiss said, crossing her arms and turning away.

"I still can't think of a way to change her mind." Ruby frowned.

"Well we could just let her learn the hard way," I said, grabbing all of their attention as well as more than a few glares.

"Oh. (Y/N), right? When did you get here?" Sun asked.

"I'm always here, apparently," I muttered, though loud enough for everyone to here.

"Guys, Trust me. Blake will be at the dance tomorrow." Yang said before walking out. I was going to leave as well before my scroll rung. As it was wired into my helmet, an icon appeared with Ozpin's image.

"(Y/N), please report to my office. I have found something interesting that you may want to see." Ozpin's voice played through the helmet. While the others in the room were doing their own thing or whatnot, I slipped out undetected as I made my way to the big man's office.

Several minutes later, I heard dinging sound as the elevator door opened. "Ah, (Y/N), so nice you could join us." The headmaster said. It was at that moment I noticed Glynda and Ironwood there as well.

"You wanted to see me?"

"Yes. We have made some . . . interesting findings in a forest just outside Vale." Ozpin typed out a few things on his desk creating an all too familiar image. It was an upside down triangle, the left side being orange and the right being green. On the left side was a black thunderbolt connected to a white mirroring image on the right. Atop all of that was the numbers 6 and 4.

"Of course. It's the 6-4 logo. The mercenary group I worked with."

"I told you they were linked," Ironwood muttered.

"I see. Then perhaps you would know what this is?" The headmaster typed on his desk a few more times and the image was replaced. My eyes widened at it, though the others in the room could not see it. On the screen, I saw a black and yellow Goblin dropship.

"That's the 6-4 drop ship I was using during the battle for the Ark on Typhon! How the hell did it end up here?"

"We're willing to bet it came here the same way you did," Ironwood said. The ship itself was badly damaged. Wings out of place, cockpit utterly destroyed, and smoke seemed to emanate from every visible crack.

"Is there a way I can get down to it?" I asked. Ozpin smiled in response.

"I was just about to ask if you would go and check it out. Ironwood wanted the first crack at it, however, I felt that first contact should be with a more. . . personal touch."

"I appreciate that, Ozpin. Now if you'll excuse me . . ."

"Yes, of course. A bullhead is already being prepped for you." I nodded to him before making my way outside.

Several minutes later I was sitting on one of three bullheads. Three were needed to allow Osiris to come with me, as he was way too heavy for a single ship to carry. The ride could have been longer, though I never liked waiting. When we arrived, my titan was released as I jumped feet first out of the bullhead, landing several meters in front of him. The many Atlesian scientists and soldiers took a moment to look at us before one approached me.

     "Pilot (Y/N) (L/N)?"

"That's me." The man nodded.

"Sergeant Corman, sir. We were told you'd be joining us."

"Yes. I assume you haven't destroyed that thing too much yet?"

"Negative. We were instructed not to tamper with it until further notice."

"Okay then; let's get started," I said, cracking my knuckles. Osiris intervened.

"Pilot, I detect no direct openings in the hull. Recommend entering through the cockpit windshield." I walked around to the front as he said to, seeing it was nearly gone. Climbing up the nose, I slipped into the front of the ship before turning on my helmet light. First, it was the operating and navigation consoles, but they were both shot. Looking around there was not much else in the ship besides a few guns. I'll make sure to come and get those later. Walking back to the front, my leg kicked something. Looking down I saw the damaged chassis of a specter. "Well this is an interesting find." Crouching down, I got a better look at it and saw it was actually a MRVN model. It also had the 6-4 emblem with a single star at the bottom. "The autopilot . . ." I said.

Making my way out of the ship I signaled for my titan to come around. he was followed by the sergeant. "What did you find in there?" Corman asked.

"Just some military tech. I'll be taking it and the salvage back to Beacon with me."

"Hmm. Okay then. I'll let the boss know to send a few extra bullheads." Corman said, walking off. I turned to my titan.

"They may need some help getting this thing off the ground, OS. That's all you."

"I will assist them in any way I can, pilot." With a nod to him, I brought out my scroll and dialed Ozpin's number. He picked up shortly.

"Yes, (Y/N)? What can you make of the ship?"

"It's badly damaged and won't be flying for a while. Not without proper repair. I may have a favor to ask of you when we return."

"I see. However, I do not know how much of it we may be able to restore, considering your technology is almost alien to us."

"If you supply the lien, I think I'll be able to recreate the needed parts."

"We shall see, then. I must leave now, but I will speak to you when you return." Ozpin hung up as the sound of bullheads caught my attention. When I looked back over the treeline, I saw around five heading for us. When they landed, I had Osiris lift the goblin off the ground at either side, allowing for the attachment of it to the bullheads. After we reattached my titan to the original three, I climbed into one, and we took off for the school. As we flew, the thought brushed my mind that running missions for Ironwood would become much easier now. No more late, almost-mission-fatal arrivals.

When we finally got back to the school, the bullheads lowered to where the dropship was touching the ground before they released it and flew away. "Well, guess we better get this thing back to the hangar," I said, my hands on my hips. It was then I heard an excited voice on the other side of the ship. And then a more grouchy one.

"Oh my Oum oh my Oum OhmyOum! What is this thing?! It's so cool!"

"Why is this pile of junk here? What were they thinking just leaving it?" The voices were unmistakably that of Ruby and Weiss. Boost jumping up to the top, I climbed to the top if the wing (which was currently tilted upward at 45 or so degrees).

"This 'piece of junk' just so happens to be one of the most advanced pieces of traveling technology you'll ever see," I said, looking down at them.

"You?! This is yours? Why would you just leave it in the courtyard?! There are rules, you know!" Ignoring what Weiss was ranting about, I instead turned to the hooded wonder or little red crack head, as I like to call her.

"Wow! This thing is yours?! That's so cool! What can it do? Can it fly?" She gasped, "Does it have weapons?!" Suddenly, Osiris came around from behind the ship.

"The Goblin Dropship, first modeled and built in the year 2064, is one of the later ariel troop transport vehicles built by Hammond Industries. The Goblin is equipped with 20mm fully automatic machine guns and has a built-in shield generator and warp drive, allowing for quick escapes utilizing light speed and space functionality." Ruby, who was lost the moment he started talking, had already found the guns Osiris was talking about and was now fawning over them.

"Wait, did he just say space travel?" Weiss asked. My titan answered before I could.

"Affirmative. All modern frontier based military technology has space travel capability, as well as the ability to travel at the speed of light."

"Wha- the speed of light?! No way. There's no way technology has gone that far . . . anywhere!"

"You would be incorrect in that assumption, Mrs. Schnee," Osiris said.

"Well I-I want to see it!" Weiss crossed her arms, stomping her right foot.

"Yeah, no can do, princess. In case you haven't noticed in all of your ever expansive wisdom, this thing isn't flying any time soon. When I get it ready though, you'll be the first one to know." I said sarcastically. My response was a simple grunt as she muttered something. A strong gust of wind suddenly pushed me almost to the point of losing my balance. It was followed by a burst of Rose petals.

"Waitwaitwaitwait! If you can take this thing into space, can I come with you?! Can you take me for a space ride?" The hyperactive girl asked. Jesus, I thought. Why the hell does she act like this? Don't they all hate more or something?

"You want me to take you into space?" I asked quizzically. She nodded her head vigorously. "Right. I'll, uh, get back to you on that."

"Ruby!" The four of us turned to see Yang across the courtyard waving her over. When she finally reached us she grabbed Ruby by the hood. "Come on, the dance is tonight! We still have to pick out your dress!"

"Yang! No! I don't want a dress! Yang? Please no!" Ruby pleaded as she was dragged off back to their dorm. Weiss, Osiris, and I just watched awkwardly until they could no longer be seen. Finally, I started speaking again.

"So, Weiss, you have anyone you were going to ask to the dance?"

"Ugh! Why do you care?" She scoffed.

"I don't. Was just curious." I said monotonously. She growled before stomping off.

"I believe you upset her, pilot," Osiris said.

"Good."

"I would not consider damaging your relationship with a fellow student favorable."

"Hmm . . . either way, we should get this ship back to the hangar. We got a lot of work to do."
