A/N: Sorry this is so late! But guess what? I got the "swag" Shannon Messenger sent everyone and it is awesomesauce! I posted a picture above of it and it's so cool. Plus I just came back from watching Mockingjay and it was epic. I even got this cute little pin from the theater so yeah. Okay onwards!
After Biana had suggested that they go shopping, there were two issues. One- they didn't have the money, and two- they didn't know where to shop. Fortunately for Biana, and unfortunately for Sophie, Mrs. Messenger solved both those issues. She gave them about $300 to spend and even offered to drive them to the nearby mall. They agreed.
When they reached the mall, they told Mrs. Messenger to pick them up in about two hours. Now they just had to find a place to shop.
"Oooh look at that store!" Biana pointed to an extravagant store with beautiful prom dresses and wedding dresses. Except, to elves, that was just normal attire.
Sophie shook her head. "No way. I bet just one of those dresses costs more than the $300 Mrs. Messenger gave us. Let's go look at a more... Normal store."
Biana reluctantly agreed and the two girls walked to the Kohls at the other end at the mall. It wasn't the fanciest store, but it had pretty good clothes for their age... And it wasn't that expensive.
Biana fingered a pair of jeans. "What are these?" she asked Sophie.
"Those are jeans. Why don't you try on a pair?" Sophie suggested. Biana was about to pick a few off the rack, when she came to a realization.
"I don't know my size."
Sophie realized she didn't know her own size either. The last time she had shopped for human clothes was around a year ago. And she had grown a lot in a year.
She frowned. "Neither do I. Let me see... There's a 14/16! We can try those. Or the 12/13 if they don't fit."
Biana nodded and grabbed a pair of embroidered blue jeans and a bluish white pair. She picked up a jeweled belt and a netted top with pink flowers on it. Sophie watched in awe as she flitted around the store, pairing one cute outfit with another until she had a pile of clothes in her hand almost taller than her.
"Aren't you buying anything?" asked Biana as Sophie watched her. Sophie shook her head out of the daze and walked over to the jeans rack, picking up a pair of dull black jeans and pairing it with a loose gray shirt. Biana frowned at her.
"Seriously?" she asked. "That's so dull! You need to pick out fancier clothes!" She pulled a teal, sleeveless blouse with embroidery at the neck and tossed it to Sophie. "Here, wear this."
Sophie opened her mouth to argue, when she realized that she probably wasn't going to win. When it came to fashion, Biana wouldn't budge. She sighed, "Fine, but only because it's teal." She placed the shirt on her arm. "And I'm still wearing the black jeans."
Biana frowned. "Alright, fine. But then you have to wear these boots." She pointed to a pair of black knee high boots with silver buckles on them. They were far too decorated for Sophie's liking, but she knew once again that Biana wouldn't budge. Rolling her eyes, she picked up the boots and walked to the dressing room.
When she put on the outfit, she felt far too conscious to walk out with it on. The shirt was loose, but the top of it was too fitted for her liking and the pants were practically leggings. And the boots... They were far too shiny. But, when Biana knocked on her door, she knew she wasn't going to get out of this one.
Sighing, she opened the door and crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for the moment she could get out of the outfit. She thought it would be a relief to leave the dresses and get back to human clothes, but this was not what she had imagined.
Biana, on the other hand, looked perfect as always. The sheer flowery top with the tank top underneath was a colorful contrast to the plain white jeans. And the barrette in her hair matched her pink flats perfectly.
Biana grinned. "You look so pretty!" she complimented. Sophie gave her an unsure smile.
"You look amazing too." After trying on a few more clothes, they went to the check out center. Sophie had refused to buy any more colorful, fancy outfits, but Biana had conceded on only one condition. She had to buy a dress.
The dress she bought was as simple as they got, a sharp contrast to Biana's sequin covered and jeweled dresses. It was made of plain red cotton and pinched in with an elastic at the middle, stopping right above her knees.
"What is this even for?" Sophie asked Biana.
Biana rolled her eyes. "Isn't it obvious? My brother is going to take you on a date!"
"WHAT?!"
