The Schreaves: Part Two

The Deschamps-Schreaves:

The Deschamps-Shreaves used to go by Deschamps, which was a name the children believed was real, but was actually a cover. Their actual last name(and the one used by Illeans) is Schreave.

Fabian(Played by me)

Above is a picture of Fabian Schreave when he was 19, though he is now nearly 46. He's aged well, though his face is a little more lined and he's broader than he used to be. In France, he dyed his hair blonde and wore blue contacts and glasses at all times in order to change his appearance, though he returned his hair and eyes to their original color upon his arrival in Illea.

For those of you who did not take part in the last selection, Fabian is the younger brother of King Julian. When Julian was 20, and undergoing his own selection Fabian shot and killed their father. He was arrested and expected to be executed, but escaped from jail and was not seen for 26 years. Upon his recent return to Illea, he was pardoned by King Julian and will not face jail time for his crimes.

In personality, Fabian hasn't changed much since he was 19. He managed to evade both French and Illean forces for twenty-six years, which has, if anything, made him even more arrogant. He's still bookish and highly intelligent, with a propensity for deep conversations that sometimes inadvertently become arguments. Fabian is deeply passionate and when presented with an issue will work indefatigably to find a solution. However, living under the radar has caused him to lose most of his ambition. He no longer believes that the world's problems are his to solve, or indeed, that some of them are solvable at all. As a result, he doesn't seek power anymore, which is just as well considering that he has none. He was convicted of treason when he killed his father, and while Julian's pardon can save him from execution, nothing can give him back his title.

As a result of his father's death, most of Illea hates him. Though Harrison was never a particularly well-loved figure, he was liked well enough and his death was a outrage. Over the years, Fabian's name has been passed down, painted as an outlaw and murderer. Illeans would like nothing more than to see him hang.

Hugo(Played by me) (Selecting royal)

Hugo grew up believing he was the son of a French farmer. Though his father would eventually expand their farm to become the fifth largest apple producer in the nation, for most of Hugo's childhood, his family was quite poor, and Hugo always dreamed of a bigger life in the city as an aerospace engineer. When he graduated from high school, he was accepted to Sorbonne University, the most elite college in France. There, he was exposed to new people and ideas, including his best friend, a French prince named Alexandre.

Then, his father showed up in the middle of the night and told him he needed to come with him. Hugo trusted the man, and that was the last time he's ever made that mistake. In one night, he had everything stripped away from him and was thrust into a role he has no idea how to fill. He lost his city, his friends, and his budding career, all replaced with a foreign country that hates his guts.

Prior to the revelation of his father's origins, Hugo was carefree. He was outgoing and funny, someone who was easy to get along with. He idolized his father. He looked up to him and trusted him. Now, he's a little more wary of the world. When it turns out that everything you knew was an illusion, it's hard to blindly trust anyone. Additionally, being in a foreign country has made it more difficult for him to loosen up and feel comfortable. He is fluent in English, but he has an accent, and some of Illea's customs(like the fact that they had a caste system up until very recently, as well as this whole Selection business) are confusing to him. He feels like a fish out of water in the palace.

Trouble finds him, and he really just isn't very good at following instructions and abiding by rules. Unlike most of the royal family, he knows what it's like to have free reign of a city, to live like a normal nineteen year old and choose his own life. He's dated a few girls before, and was even in love once, though his ambition carried him away from her. He views the Selection with some skepticism, and he's determined not to marry anyone if he doesn't fall in love.

He gets along fairly well with his siblings and is fiercely protective of them. Offending them is not a wise choice. However, he hates his cousin.

Enzo(Open)

Enzo is the 16 year old son of Fabian Schreave. He's also the sibling who is closest to Hugo, and generally functions as the peacemaker in the family. He's the nicest member of the family, and is a people-pleaser. He wants everyone to be okay, and goes out of his way to follow rules. However, while he does what he is told on his own, he is also easily corruptible, a trait that Hugo and Charlotte are both good at exploiting.

He isn't sure how he feels about having been lied to his whole life, but he's trying to make the best of it. In contrast to his sister, he's always put together and gives the appearance of perfection, being passionate about fashion.

Charlotte(Open)

Charlotte is the sole child to inherit her mother's red hair and is also the only daughter of Fabian. She's Enzo's twin, making her sixteen, and he's the brother that she's probably closest to. The girl is fearless, and people like to joke that she's tough because she grew up with three brothers. In reality, her brothers are tough because they grew up with Charlotte. She's the most rebellious of the three, and regularly has feuds with everyone except for Enzo.

She's kind of a disaster to be perfectly honest. She's always a little bit angry, and this is only exacerbated by the recent turn of events. Like Hugo, she had big plans for France, and was actually in love with a boy she left behind. Furthermore, being pushed into a role where she's expected to act like a lady is kind of killing her. She's obsessed with music and plays three instruments.

~~

Victor(Open)

Victor is Fabian's youngest child at 12 years old, and he's by far the quietest. Hugo jokes it's because he's always plotting, but he's actually quite proud of Victor, whom he considers to be the smartest of the four, if a little bit evil. Seriously, if any one of the Schreaves is going to manage to reanimate a corpse, it's this one.

He's very independent and doesn't make friends easily. Out of the four, he's probably the most chill with finding out his dad was actually an Illean prince. He never trusted Fabian that much anyways, and France wasn't all that great, if he's being honest. He's actually not a bad kid, but it's hard to have a conversation with him, because he's very good at avoiding people.

Emma Martin(Open)

Emma Martin was married to Fabian Schreave for ten years and during that whole time she had no idea about his true identity. The pair were in a loveless marriage, having become engaged quickly after she conceived Hugo, and while they were both too restrained to engage in shouting matches, they quickly came to regard each other with a sense of cold disdain. She hated that he was arrogant and cold towards her, seemingly bitter. She also hated that he was a poor farm-owner—just like her father. She had grown up in the French countryside and she always swore to herself that she would get out of it, that she wouldn't end up leading the same life that her mother did. Unable to bear her circumstances, she left when she was thirty-three years old, abandoning her husband and four children to run off with a wealthy banker.

Her family hasn't seen her in almost ten years.
