Day Brightened

"Hey! You up yet?" Jungkook yelled at Yoongi's door. It had been two hours since he had knocked on it and received a sleepy grunt in return. Both brothers were used to routines where they rose early. It was unusual for Yoongi to stay in bed for so long. Jungkook walked up to his brother's room and knocking, opened the door. Yoongi was curled up in his blankets, in a foetal position, staring out of the window. He glanced at Jungkook with empty eyes and then went back to staring.

"Is it back again?"

Yoongi nodded and sighed.

Jungkook entered the room and shut the door behind him. He sat on the edge of the bed and looked out the window too.

"Talk to me."

It took a couple of minutes, but slowly, Yoongi started talking, "I- I really don't know what is wrong with me. I don't want to feel like this, but it's almost as though it has a mind of its own, invading my thoughts, making me feel terrible, and ruining my day. And it ruins your day too, I know that. I'm sorry. I don't do it deliberately."

Jungkook laid a hand on Yoongi's arm, "I know that. Stop blaming yourself. Just tell me why you think it has returned."

"Well, it's Monday, and I need to be in the studio in an hour and I cannot get out of bed because I keep thinking of what I will do today and how it will be the exact same thing I do everyday and will keep on doing for the next countless number of days..." He trailed off and curled up even more.

Jungkook sighed. He turned to Yoongi, "You can't let this stop you from living your life. Listen, here's what we'll do. I'll drop you to your studio and I'll pick you up in the evening and we'll go shopping, okay?"

Yoongi nodded. He slowly began to get up and move towards the bathroom to get dressed. Jungkook stopped at the door, "You know, you could invite that dancer to join us if you want. I'm calling Tae." Then he was gone. He had left the pancakes on the stove.

Thinking of Hoseok seemed to do wonders to Yoongi's mood. He suddenly felt lighter and his heart seemed to flutter a little. He decided he would text him as soon as he was ready.

Yoongi: Hey! My brother and I are going to the
mall this evening. Care to join us?

Hoseok: is it okay if I bring a friend of mine from the dance studio?

Yoongi: of course! The more, the merrier, right?

Hoseok: hahaha yeah.

Yoongi: see you at 3?

Hoseok: see you :)

That evening, Jungkook was waiting in the studio lobby for his brother. When Yoongi emerged, he hugged him and the two brothers walked out, Yoongi's arm around Jungkook's shoulders. Taehyung joined them on the way. When they reached the mall, they found Hoseok waiting for them, with a very pretty boy next to him.

"The name's Jimin. Park Jimin."

The pretty boy introduced himself with a smile. Yoongi, Jungkook, and Tae introduced themselves to him too and the four of them set off to roam the vast expanse of the shopping centre.

"What did you do to your hair?"

Yoongi looked at Hoseok innocently, "Nothing. Black is my natural colour. You didn't think I actually had blue hair, did you?"

"Of course not! Black suits you better, you know," Hoseok laughed, earning a gummy smile from Yoongi.

Within a couple of minutes, Jimin, Tae, and Jungkook had struck up a conversation and the three were laughing and talking like old friends. Hoseok and Yoongi walked a step behind them in comfortable silence. They kept sneaking glances at each other. Suddenly, Yoongi thought of asking Hoseok about Jimin.

"Oh we've been friends from before I can remember. He is also a colleague in my dance studio. We often practice together."
"Speaking of dance, you've got to show me one of your dances."
"Of course! You are welcome to come over to my studio anytime. I think it's a ten minute walk from where you work."
"Is it?" Yoongi's eyes widened. "Then I must come over sometime. And you must too!"

Hoseok laughed, "Of course I will."

After two hours of roaming the mall, jabbering non stop, clicking numerous selfies, and hardly buying a thing, the five of them parted ways, but not before Hoseok and Yoongi had decided a day when the latter could visit the dance studio. When Yoongi, Jungkook, and Tae returned home, Tae turned to his older brother figure, "Looks like somebody is in love!"

Yoongi smiled sheepishly and blushed. He wasn't one to deny his own feelings. He had known for some time now that he was falling for Hoseok.

Tae poked his ribs and laughed. Jungkook joined too. He was relieved that his brother had finally found a source of joy in his monotonous life. Soon the house was filled with happy laughter and chatter, something that it had been missing for the past couple of months.
