WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN

≪•◦ CHAPTER SIXTEEN | UNSTABLE BUT USEFUL ◦•≫

     Bella and Colby climb out of the taxi. It pulls away, leaving them alone in front of the ballet studio. Colby watches as Bella shakes her pepper spray, Colby puts her grimiore in her bag and before they enter Bella stops her, "I'll stay hidden but you're not going in alone." Bella nods as they enter the ballet studio, Colby stays hidden by some columns as they hear Bella's mom's voices

     "Bella, Bella! Bella? Where are you?" The sound of Renee's worried voice fills the studio as Bella frantically tries to follow the sound of her mom's voice, "Mom?" Bella calls out into the room. "Bella!"

     "Mom!"

     "There you are. What are you doing in here?"

"Everyone makes fun of me." A young girls voice was heard next as Bella throws open a closet and discovers a video of her and Renee playing on TV.

     "Come on, you're a wonderful dancer." Renee said on the video as she tried to comfort a young Bella, "Mom, I suck." The little girl said, Renee laughs softly, "You do not suck."

     Suddenly the girls hear James laugh, Bella gasps and spins around, trying to locate James in the mirrors. Colby spots him, his attention is fully on Bella giving Colby the advantage. "That's my favourite part. You're a stubborn child, weren't you? Hmm?"

     "She's not even here." Bella concluded with irritation.

     James sped and slammed Bella against a column sending pain through both girls due to the linking spell, Colby struggles to stay quiet due to the sudden pain, "Sorry. But you really made it too easy. So, to make things more entertaining, I'm gonna make a little film of our time together. I borrowed this from your house. I hope you don't mind, okay. And...action! Oh, It'll break Edward's little heart."

     Bella struggles as she blocked in by James, "You would...Edward has nothing to do with this!"

     "Relax...Oh ho, oh, his rage will make for more interesting sport than his, uh, his feeble attempt to protect you. And let's continue." Bella uses the pepper spray on James eyes with no effect, which in turn pisses James off. Bella runs towards the door where Colby is but James jumps in front of her and hurls Bella to a column. Bella's head hits the column.

     "Beautiful. Very visually dynamic." James stops as the faint sound of Colby's yelp as Bella touches the blood on her head. "I chose my stage well. But you disobeyed, come on out little witch" James says as he takes Bella's hand, "It's too bad he didn't have the strength to turn you." He says as Bella pulls away her hand.

     "Instead he kept you this fragile little human. It's cruel, really." James stomps on Bella's right shin just as Colby comes out of hiding, Bella's tibia snaps and she and Colby scream in agony. "Tell Edward how much it hurts. Tell him to avenge you. Tell him. While I have fun with the witch." James says as sets the camera infront of Bella, "No, Edward, do not!"

     James speds towards Colby but just before he manages to reach her, she uses her magic to send him flying into a mirror, "I'm getting real tired of you witches." James groans as she stands from the spot Colby threw him, "then die."Colby groans as she uses her manage to cast an illusion of raw burning pain to corse through James body making the man scream in agony.

     Due to the pain she and Bella felt it was hard for Colby to stay focused and soon the spell was weak enough for James to regain his footing, he sped towards Colby and grabbed ahold of her neck before speeding then both towards a mirror slamming Colby's back against it causing her to scream in pain, but not Bella, "The little spell you put between the two of you is one sided, the little selfless witch refuses to let the fragile human feel any of her pain but you, you feel all of it."

     Before Colby to retort Edward comes and knocks James off of her as she falls to the ground surrounded by bloody glass. James charges at Edward, forcing him up against a column. "You're alone...'cause you're faster than the others." James concludes as he crashes Edward's head into the mirror. "But not stronger."

     "I'm strong enough to kill you." Edward says with a slight struggle in his voice. Colby struggles to her feet, her body aching from the shared pain with Bella and the pieces of glass protruding from her back. She knows she has to act quickly before James can do more damage.

     With a sudden surge of strength, Colby channels her magic, her hands glowing with a fierce light. She casts a protective barrier around Edward, before the magic goes through Edward and throws James off of him. With James in a moment a weakness Edward runs to Bella, "I'm sorry."

     James regains his footing lunges at Colby, but she's ready, she conjures a burst of energy that knocks him off his feet, sending him crashing into another mirror. The room is filled with the sound of shattering glass, the man is beyond angry now Colby sees Edward pick up Bella and tries to leave with her to get her to safety, but James pulls them back
down and flings Edward to the window and Bella into a mirror causing her to pulls a mirror shard from her leg. Both Colby and Bella groan in pain making Colby weak once's more as she falls to her knees

     James grabs Bella's right hand and sinks his teeth into her hand, she and Colby both scream in agony. Edward jumps and knocks James across the floorboard and forces James up against a column.

     Colby becomes too weak to stand from the intense burning pain she shares with Bella.

     Colby's vision becomes blurry from the pain and blood loss as she tries to keep up with the events in from of her, she feels cold arms pick her up making her groan in pain she looks to see Alice cradling her and before she's brings her to Carlilse, "She's holding her breath, Colby you need to breathe, stop holding your breath." Alice then says before checking her over, "She wasn't bitten?" Carlisle looks, "If she's feeling the same pain she might've linked Bella to her, which is subduing Bella pain a bit." Carlisle explains before looking towards Edward, "Son." Edward looks at Carlisle, his eyes wild as Bella's blood hits his nose, "Enough. Remember who you are."

Alice takes Colby and puts her down next to Bella. "Bella, come on, it's okay." Alice tries, "Bella, okay. it's okay." Alice says as she sees Bella's blood, "Oh God..." Alice says as she smells Bella's blood on her fingers, "Carlisle, the blood!"

"Your brothers will take care of him."

"Colby?" Emmett says as she sees her limp figure, the pain had gotten too much and rendered her unconscious. "I'll take care of her, you two take care of him." Carlisle says pointing towards James who was now in Emmett's hoped "I got it." Carlisle is quick to go to Bella and Colby's side, "Alice, go." The girl listens as she speeds to James in Emmett's hold, snapping his head off and throws it into the blazing fire, Bella still screams in pain.

Colby soon starts to wake up just as she does a strong surge of pain corses through her, "Femoral artery's been severed. She's losing too much blood. Colby's not losing much put her heart can't take much more of this she needs to reverse the spell."

"No, no, no, my hand, it's burning!" Bella screams, "I can't-I can't concentrate enough to reverse it." Colby breathed out, "It's the venom." Edward says as Alice comes back to Bella and Colby, this time on Colby's side as she grabs her hand.

   "You have to make a choice. Either let the change happen-"

     "No. No!"

     "It's gonna happen, Edward. I've seen it. I just wish I could see Colby." Alice mumbles the last part but it comes clear to the vampires around her, Emmett tries not to get distracted by the possibility of losing Colby by continuing to burn pieces of James, the sole reason the woman he loves is in this position.

     "It doesn't have to be that way. She'd still have what she has." Carlisle said before looking at Alice, "Make me a tourniquet with your belt."

     "Carlisle, what's my other option?" Edward tries but Carlisle is too occupied in the moment of stopping the bleeding to hear him. "Tie it above my hands."

    "Carlisle!"

     "Go." Carlisle tells Alice who joins Emmett and Jasper, "You can try to suck the venom out." Colby and Bella scream once more in agony as the pain heightens, Colby feels them both slipping, but she's slipping faster than Bella.

     "You know I won't be able to stop."

     "Then find the will...to stop. But choose, she only has minutes left. They both do." Carlisle explains, "I'll make it go away, Bella. I'll make it go away." Edward says as he takes Bella's hand and sucks her blood, both girls scream as Edward continues to drink, Colby and Bella both begin to feel drained and numb.

     "Colby!" Carlisle looks up at the entrance instantly relieved to see her older brother, Jason running towards her. "What the fuck happened?"

     "She linked herself to Bella" Jason hovered her hand over her chest feeling the magic, "She's taking majority of Bella's pain on top of hers, which is killing her. I'm reversing the spell, it'll hurt them both but it won't kill him. By the looks up it you son might kill them if he doesn't stop."

     Carlisle looks from Jason to the girl then to Edward, "Edward, stop. Her blood is clean. You're killing them. Edward. Stop. Stop. Find the will." Carlisle knows he can't stop him physically, he has to stop on his own.

     "If I break them apart and he doesn't stop, I'll make him stop." Jason warns as he grabs onto Colby's hand and Bella's free hand before he chants the reversal spell.

     "Rompere il legame, liberare la protezione. Con questo incantesimo, siamo di nuovo separati. Nulla ci lega, nulla ci trattiene. Liberi siamo forti, liberi siamo sicuri. Così sia."

     Jason feels the spell release the girls, "I warned him." Jason said before sending a small surge of pain towards Edward making him finally drop Bella's hand with a look of guilt. "Control yourself, you saved her that's all that matters." Jason said as Edward took an unneeded breath, Jason saw the shattered glass and broken marble from the columns, "Some fight they put up." Jason said proudly as she looked at the unconscious girls
    
"Her magic-"

"Her magic has always been unstable. Unstable but useful clearly. We'll get them to a hospital and call Charlie and our mom. We've had to cover up a lot of her mishaps so coming up with a lie to benefit both sides won't be hard." Jason explains as she picks Colby's seemingly lifeless body, Carlisle doing the same with Bella.

Jason caught a glimpse of Emmett hurling the last of James into the fire making him smirk, "At least I know my baby sister is safe with him."
