Chapter 43

Third person

When Leo awoke from his nap he was surprised to see both of his parents down stairs. Gumball looked worried while Marshall Lee looked very unhappy. He could tell that something was wrong.

The thought of there being something wrong made Leo want to go back to his room and not come out until it was resolved. One of his least favorite things was conflict. He just couldn't stand fighting. Something told him that there was going to be a lot of it.

He went to bolt back up to his room but Marshall cut him off and sternly told him to sit. The younger vampire became more worried than before as he sat down. His heart felt like it was racing even though it didn't have a beat.

What was this about? Why were his parents so keen on talking to him at that very moment? Had he done something wrong? Was he in some sort of trouble? That's when Leo realized that his parents knew about the events that took place on Valentine's day.

That was the only explanation. That was why Marshall was rather stern with him and Gumball was very quiet, staring at the ground. There were obviously some mixed feelings in the room.

"Do you know what this is about?" Marshall asked, a test to see if Leo would tell the truth.

"Yes... It's because I violated the revision to the rule and was intimate with Blake..." Leo answered truthfully with a sigh.

The teenager knew where this was going and could feel the tears welling up in his eyes. If they brought up him not seeing Blake he knew that they would come flooding out.

Leo knew better than to break the rule. Why did he say it was okay? Did he really think that they could get away with hiding it for the next two years? In all honesty he didn't.

Leo knew what they were doing was bad. He knew that it would get them in trouble in the end. They couldn't keep it a secret for two years. That was nearly impossible. He should have said he wanted to wait. Then this conversation with his parents wouldn't be happening.

"Why did you do that? We told you what would happen. You knew what the consequences were and yet you still did what you weren't supposed to." Marshall stated, crossing his arms at his son out of disappointment.

Leo knew that even blinking would shove the tears from his eyes so he refrained from doing that. Eventually his eyes became the dam that the tears overflowed as they traveled down his cheeks.

"I don't know... I knew it was a bad choice and that I shouldn't have done it, but... But I wanted to... Blake means so much to me and I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost him... I'm the one who told him to go on... It's my fault..." Leo replied, putting his head between his knees and tugging at his hair.

Gumball couldn't stand to see his son like this. It hurt him to know that his son was hurting. He couldn't let him be unhappy for the next two years.

He pulled Marshall out of the room for a moment. They were going to have a very serious chat about what should be done.
