Chapter 42

Third person

Gumball was very concerned about the situation he was in. He couldn't decided on whether or not to tell Marshall Lee. He knew that Marshall would probably be furious with Blake after the revision was broken.

He decided to walk away from Leo's room to think. The scenario was certainly stressful and required a lot of thought.

If Gumball didn't talk then his son would be happy and continue to have his boyfriend in his life. They wouldn't be separated and would be happy together. But if Gumball did say something all hell would break loose. His son would resent him for tearing him and his boyfriend apart for such a long time. They were closer than anyone he had ever known. Perhaps it was better that to let them be.

The more Gumball thought about it the more he realized that he could never hurt his son like that. Leo would resent him for doing such a horrible thing. Leo was finally happy with Blake. The flame boy was all he ever had after all. Gumball couldn't do anything to sabotage that for them. He would keep quiet.

Unfortunately it was too late. Marshall had walked by and tapped into his husband's thoughts and now knew all that Gumball knew.

Of course he figured that it had happened because of the holiday of love that just passed. It would have been a romantic time for their first. But just because he already was certain it happened didn't mean he would be okay with it. He was actually very angry. Their son was given one rule to follow and he broke it.

Marshall confronted Gumball about the situation. His husband looked worried and pale, obvious that he knew what the situation was.

"When were you going to tell me?" Marshall asked, his arms crossed out of a bit of frustration.

Gumball attempted to play off the question but was unsuccessful. He wasn't a very good liar when it came to Marshall.

"I only just found out... But I really don't think we should do anything... Leo would never forgive us if we tore them apart like that..." Gumball answered, speaking his mind about the situation.

"Gumball, we can't do that... Leo knew the rule and broke it. Just because he's in love doesn't mean he won't have to face the consequences of his actions. You know I'm right."

Gumball sighed, knowing in fact that his husband was right. Leo did know what the consequences of his actions would be. He should have to deal with them. But he also knew that Leo was a teenager and teenagers make a lot of mistakes. Gumball knew that from experience.

"He's still young... He's trying to live for a while before he has to be responsible... Maybe we shouldn't be so harsh..." Gumball suggested, not wanting his son to hate him for being so restrictive.

After all, Gumball and Marshall had to hide their relationship for a while too. And they did do certain things. It was a bit hypocritical for them to try and drive their son and his lover apart, but the rule was set in place.

"I know that, but he has to learn to be responsible, especially if he's going to be running the Candy kingdom one day. That means he has to follow the rules. I would have thought you of all people would be stern about that." Marshall replied, putting Gumball's argument in a box that wasn't escapable.

The future times ahead were going to be rough, starting very soon.
