Chapter 31

Third person

The next day was when the meeting took place. Leo and his parents had to carry their umbrellas to stay out of the sun. The council made no accommodations for vampires and never actually had. Luckily there were no windows to let in light.

Leo still despised the whole thing. He had to sit close to his parents while Blake sat across the table with his. They weren't sitting together like they both had hoped.

'This really blows.' Blake thought.

Leo could hear the other's thoughts and it gave him the idea of a way to communicate. He could project his thoughts into the other's mind easily. He had done it several other times but now it would finally come in handy.

'You're telling me. It's so boring.' Leo thought back to the flame boy.

They both smiled at each other from across the table. It was obvious that they were only focused on each other. They clearly weren't listening to the discussion, not like either of them actually cared.

'At least we can still do this... We don't have to listen to everyone else talk about boring stuff we don't care about anymore.' Blake mentally said to his partner.

Luckily Leo's parents were too busy with listening to the meeting to hear the two teenager's thoughts. If they had heard them they probably would have just given a stern glare for them to pay attention. But they hadn't noticed so the two boys continued to communicate by thought.

'Yeah, and my parents aren't listening. They're too focused on the meeting.' Leo mentally replied.

It was the only thing for them to do during the meeting. Neither of them really ever had the opportunity to speak. It was more the older monarchs who did a majority of the talking anyway.

'Glob I wish this meeting was over... It's a waste of time to begin with...' The flame boy thought.

'It really is. All the rulers know how to run their kingdoms. If anything was wrong then they should call a meeting. Otherwise it's just a waist of time if you know that everything is already okay.' Leo replied to his partner's thoughts.

The two mentally communicated during the entire meeting. They hadn't listened to anything else but each other's thoughts. It made the meeting interesting. Teenagers wouldn't want to talk about those topics anyway.

After the meeting was over some of the rulers stayed to chat with others that they had not seen in a while. Flame King was there along with Finn, since he technically married into the royal family.

The two teens thought nothing of it that their parents were talking. They were somewhere on the friend spectrum.

"I'm glad to see our sons are close." Gumball said to Finn with a smile.

"Yeah, Leo's a good boy. I'm sure they'll be very happy together." Finn replied.

Gumball and Marshall gave each other a confused glance. They then both looked at Leo, whose face turned paler than ever thought possible.

"What do you mean together?" Marshall questioned, just to make sure everyone was on the same page.

"Oh, we assumed they had told you they were dating as well..." Flame King answered, now looking at the two teens.

They both knew now that the meeting was over, but the meeting with their parents had just begun.
