Chapter 29
Third person
Leo was relieved that Peppermint maid had no intentions of telling his parents. His biggest fear was losing his best friend because of their relationship. He wouldn't be able to function properly without him. Blake meant the world and more to him.
The vampire searched his room for a better hiding place for his journal. He knew that the bedframe wouldn't work a second time, especially after Peppermint maid told him to find a new place. He finally settled on taking it in his hoodie and hiding it in the forest when he went to see Blake that night.
The forest would ensure that no one would find it. No one really went into the forest anymore. Everyone was content with staying in the town they were raised in. That's what made Leo enjoy the forest more. It was just him and Blake.
The two boys didn't have to deal with any strangers questioning them or telling them what to do. It was just them and nature. Sure, some would find that boring, but not Leo and Blake. The forest was their favorite place to be.
Leo was out of the kingdom before the sunset that day. He carried his umbrella to protect his skin from the harmful rays. He planned to hide his journal in the forest before going to see Blake, which could take a few minutes. Leo allowed himself the extra time just in case he needed it.
The vampire looked around for a few moments before discovering a tree with a hollowed out space in the base. He checked to make sure it was not a creature's home before placing his book inside. Afterwards Leo simply placed some leaves in the hole to conceal the pink cover of the book.
Leo felt accomplished with his hiding place. He was sure that no one but him would ever be able to find it. It was hidden rather well. If anyone were searching for a journal they would never search the forest. They would check Leo's room and then the rest of the castle if they were that determined; most people wouldn't be anyway.
Plus knowing Peppermint maid she would probably check his bedframe to make sure the teenager hadn't just stuck it in the same place. She might also check a few other obvious places, just to make sure it wasn't another easy find. But she would never even think of searching outside of the castle and especially not outside the kingdom. Leo had the perfect place for his thoughts.
The sun had gone down meaning Leo wouldn't have to use his umbrella anymore. His skin was safe now. That also meant that it was time to go see Blake. The realization made a smile spread across Leo's face.
Seeing Blake was definitely his favorite part of the day. Nothing else compared to seeing the one he loved. But the best part of his day also led to the worst one; saying goodbye. At least the two boys would have a few hours together. That time was better than nothing.
