Chapter 2
Third person
The two boys smiled at each other. Leo had never seen something so unique and the same could be said from Blake's perspective. The boy was something completely new to the other.
"What are you?" Leo asked, tilting his head to the side.
"I'm the son of the Flame King and a human. What are you?" Blake replied, making a small flame grow in his hand.
"I'm the son of the Candy King and the Vampire King." The vampire boy spoke, being obsessed with the fire that Blake could produce.
Leo attempted to touch the warm beauty, but the other moved his hand away. Blake knew he could burn the other if he wasn't careful. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt his new and only friend.
"Can't I touch it?" Leo asked, looking at the fire that slowly went out.
"I don't want to burn you... I've burnt others on accident and they don't like me anymore... I don't want to burn you, you're my only friend." The flame boy explained, looking at the forest floor.
Leo took one of Blake's hands and held it to his cheek. The sound of sizzling burning sugar filled the air. The flame boy pulled his hand back quickly, seeing the charred sugar that upset him.
"Don't worry." The vampire boy said, his face being healed almost instantly.
It had slipped his mind that Leo would be able to heal. A vampire could heal through practically anything, except a stake through the heart. This would be the one person Blake wouldn't hurt because he could heal.
Leo's ears twitched back and he looked behind him. He knew Marshall was close.
"I have to go now... I'll see you soon." He said quickly, hugging the other before running off.
The hug had created some sizzles but they would be gone by the time Leo was found by Marshall. Blake was mostly focused on the fact that he made a friend.
The flame boy never thought he would make any friends. He could barely touch Finn without burning him. That was before the charm that kept him safe became permanent. But he feared that no one would want to be his friend because he could hurt them. Burns can be serious injuries after all.
Blake ran back home to the treehouse and smiled as he ran in. Both his parents noticed his happy grin and knew something exciting happened.
"I made a friend today." He said happily.
His parents shared a small look of concern before a look of happiness came over their faces. If Blake had made a friend than surely the friend would be fire proof or have ways to avoid getting burned. They were mostly just happy that their son had a friend.
When Marshall finally found Leo they both headed back to where they were having the picnic. Leo didn't talk about his new friend because he wasn't sure how his parents would react if they knew that his friend was the son of the Flame King. He would keep it quiet for now.
