Chapter 18
Third person
The two boys hugged each other tightly. They hadn't seen each other in several days and it was quite obvious that they missed one another during that time. Steam rose from their hug but neither of them seemed to care. They were too focused on each other.
Both of their anxiety levels were rising. They both needed to tell the other something that was considered "make or break." Either they could make a relationship or break their friendship all together. Option one was definitely better than option two. Now it was just a matter of wording.
Both boys prepared to start and stopped when they saw the other wanted to speak. They were willing to let the other go first, which only got them stuck further in the awkwardness of the situation.
Neither of them knew what would happen. There could be many outcomes, depending on how the other felt about their feelings. Mutual feelings would mean a relationship beginning, while feelings that were not mutual would most likely mean a broken friendship. Neither of the boys wanted that. They didn't think they would be able to handle losing the other.
Finally Leo decided to speak and break the silence. He needed to tell the other instead of being afraid. He was tired of keeping his feelings in. If that would end their friendship then so be it. That was a risk the vampire was willing to take.
"I've been waiting all day to tell you something very important... But now that I'm about to do it, I feel like I can't... It's just my nerves and I know that I need to, but it's like my body doesn't want to let me... But what I'm trying to tell you is... I love you, Blake..." The vampire explained, the anxiety leaving his body once he confessed his feelings.
Blake went into shock for a few moments. His feelings were actually mutual. He wouldn't have to fear losing his best friend anymore. Leo felt the same way and he now knew that for sure.
Blake's silence worried the vampire. He feared that the flame boy didn't share his feelings and was trying to figure out a way to tell him without hurting him. Only when Blake hugged him tightly did he realize that wasn't the case. If the vampire's heart had a beat it probably would have skipped one at that moment.
"I've been wanting to tell you the same thing for so long... I was so afraid that if I told you and you didn't feel the same that I would lose you... You're all I have... You're all I want... You're the only one I need... I love you, Leo..." Blake replied, a small tear of happiness steaming off his cheek.
They hugged tightly, being relieved that they weren't losing the only thing they had to lose. The only thing they needed in the world was each other. Now they had that. They could be happy together. No one was going to stop them.
