Chapter 16
Third person
During the friends time apart, Leo decided to spend that time with his parents. Sure, he didn't always like to do that, but he was going to. He had nothing better to do with his time after all.
But the one thing Leo couldn't figure out was why he felt like he needed Blake around at all times. Were they really that close? They had spent nearly every night together for the past ten years. Most would consider that to be extremely close.
To most people it would be obvious that they were crushing on each other. They were together almost all the time. It was hard for them to remember a time when they weren't together. Neither of them knew what they would do without their best friend. They were pretty much inseparable.
The vampire wasn't sure how to classify his feelings. The only example of love he had was his parents. Of course that didn't mean he wanted to start this topic with them.
He knew that they would say he was too young to be thinking about love, even when they were about his age when they fell in love. That's how parents always were. That's why he never liked to discuss such topics with them. But now he was curious.
"Hey Dad, how did you know you were in love?" Leo asked Marshall, always being curious because most said they didn't see the attraction between his parents.
Gumball was sweet and shy. He always worked hard for what he wanted and was definitely more responsible. Marshall Lee was the flirtatious and bad type. He liked to get into trouble and would rather have fun than be responsible. The two were practically polar opposites. Perhaps that's why they were in love. Each one was the opposite of the other.
"I think I sort of just figured it out... I had a crush on him for the longest time and thought he hated me... But once I confessed my feelings everything just fell into place... Now we're here." Marshall replied with a smile.
Leo thought it was cute how his parents were friends before they got together. That only made him think about Blake. He never thought Blake hated him, but that wasn't necessary for love.
Leo thought about his friend for a long time after that. He couldn't get Blake off his mind. He wanted him around, no matter the time. He would've liked for them to be together at any time, but the sun made that difficult.
The vampire often wished that he was normal because of that, but then remembered that he wouldn't be able to heal from the burns caused by his friend. Perhaps being a vampire was worth it. Otherwise Blake may have stayed away from him so he wouldn't end up hurting him or causing discomfort.
The more Leo thought about it, the more he realized that his feelings were more than friendship. He was in love with his best friend.
