Chapter 14

Third person

No one talked for quite some time. There was an eerie silence that hung in the room. It was as if something didn't want any of them talking. Although that wasn't the case. It was just quiet because Flame King wanted to wait for his lover to get home before getting into any detailed discussions.

Finn had searched over a lot of land in the several hours he was gone. He finally decided to call it a day and made his way back home. He wasn't aware that his son was already home along with a guest.

He opened the door and set down his sword. He was truly exhausted, but once he saw Blake he was full of energy and hugging him tight.

"Where have you been?! I searched all over for you!" The human asked, being surprised his son was home.

"I had to get Leo home after dawn because we fell asleep. Then we explored the Candy kingdom for a bit and just lost track of time. I'm sorry..." Blake explained never wishing to worry his parents.

Finn was surprised that they hadn't run into each other in the Candy kingdom. Then again, the human could have arrived after his son left. He didn't know how long he'd been home, but was assuming not very long.

The human then looked at the vampire, assuming that he must be Leo, the one Blake always talked about; Leo, their son's only friend.

The human smiled when he saw Leo. He always wanted to meet his son's friend. Blake never brought him around before.

"You must be Leo. Blake tells us wonderful things about you." Finn said, a happy tone in his voice.

Blake's face flushed a light red color from the statement. His dad was embarrassing him in front of his only friend. Leo simply smiled.

"I'm glad he speaks nicely of me. He speaks highly of you as well." The vampire replied, being taught to always be respectful.

There wasn't really anyone he wasn't polite to. He couldn't recall anyone. No one ever really gave him any trouble. Sure, other kids didn't want to hang out with him, but that didn't mean they were rude to him. They just left him to be alone. Leo understood that and did things of his own. Blake was the only real friend he needed.

"We're happy you're close. Blake never stops talking about you." Flame King added.

"Alright we're leaving now, bye." Blake said quickly, dragging his friend from the house.

He was tired of being embarrassed by his parents. That was the whole reason he didn't want to bring Leo around in the first place. He knew that his parents would do things to fluster him in front of his only friend.

"You're parents seem very nice." Leo said, a small smile on his face.

"They are, but they're also trying to embarrass me with that stuff about me talking about you... Other than that they're pretty nice... What about your parents? I didn't really get to meet them..."

"Well, one would be protective and they both might have the urge to eat you." Leo answered honestly, not wanting to lie to his friend.

Perhaps Blake should wait a while until considering meeting Leo's parents.
