Chapter 11
Third person
Once the discussion was over Leo went back to see Blake, still waiting for him. The flame boy smiled when he saw the other. Leo couldn't help but think it was cute.
Wait, cute? Yes. Leo did think it was cute. Not just Blake's smile, but Blake in general. He blushed slightly at his thoughts, being thankful that his friend couldn't read his mind.
"Is everything okay? I didn't get you in trouble did I?" The flame boy asked, feeling guilty if the vampire had in fact gotten in some form of trouble because of him.
"No, no. It's fine. My parents just don't want us out after dawn... It's not good for me..." Leo explained, reassuring the other that everything was fine.
Blake nodded and glanced around. He had never been in the Candy kingdom before and found it very interesting. Everything was brightly colored and everyone seemed so happy. It was definitely a change from the Fire kingdom.
"It's really amazing here..." He said, liking nearly anything he saw.
"Yeah, I guess... You don't live here though... After a while the sugar starts to give you a headache." Leo joked, seeing the other was almost literally like a kid in a candy store.
Blake shrugged it off and glanced out the castle doors. He didn't have a chance to see much while running because Leo's safety was his top priority at the time. It looked very nice out there. He was curious and wanted to see more.
"Can we go look around out there? Oh wait! Um, not now I meant...! T-The sun is out! I don't want you-" Blake started.
"I'll go get my umbrella." Leo said, cutting the other off before he could worry anymore.
The vampire came back a few moments later with a large sun umbrella. The two walked out of the castle and began exploring the kingdom.
Leo told Blake where things were, what the purpose of the buildings were, roughly how long they had been there and much more. He knew a lot about the kingdom's history from reading in his spare time.
The vampire always loved a good book. Especially during the day. Sometimes he would have trouble sleeping and grab a book. Once he finished it he was nearly asleep. It also gave him to do while he couldn't be with Blake.
Then they realized: this was the longest they had ever been together. All the other times they were together Leo had to leave before dawn. Now it was late morning and they were still around each other. This made them both happy.
Perhaps it was just because they had never seen each other during the day, but for some reason they never wanted the day to end. Each one wanted to be around the other as much as possible. It was nice to be around each other for more than a few hours.
Sure, daytime wasn't the best time for a vampire to be out, but Leo had an umbrella. Blake was also much taller and could help block the sun if he needed to. And if it became too much he would be able to get Leo back to the castle very quickly. Neither of them wanted this time together to end.
