✮ Chapter 6: A Common Mistake
"Jeno, dude!" The blonde boy perks up hearing his name being called. Jisung rushes through the hallway with Chenle following not so far behind.
"Hey, guys." Jisung catches his breath for a moment, Jeno kindly offers him his water bottle.
"You look like you just ran a mile." Giselle comments, eyeing her sweaty classmate.
Chenle snorts at her, "well– technically you're not wrong. We ran all the way from my building."
In comparison, Chenle wasn't panting like Jisung was, perhaps he's just used to it despite both of them being on the 4th floors of their buildings.
"Should've joined me for that warm up earlier, huh?" He teasingly says, earning a glare from his friend. "And you call yourself an athlete."
"Whatever, dude." Turning to look back at Jeno, Jisung exclaims, "the dumbest thing happened!"
"And... What exactly happened?"
"So you know you have that brown varsity jacket you really like?" He starts off, getting a small nod in response. "And someone was borrowing it for today?" Again, another small nod from Jeno. "Well, Chenle didn't know that."
"Then get this, someone down on the open field, was wearing a brown varsity jacket, and I wasn't sure if he's the dude who borrowed it or it was just a similar jacket. Anyway, besides the point."
Giselle rolls her eyes at him, "Chenle saw him and because he didn't know, he literally yelled out your name before I could even stop him!"
Chenle crosses his arms, completely unbothered by Jisung's story despite hearing his name being mentioned... And Jisung wasn't exaggerating things.
"We got so many looks from other students, including one of the guy's friends!" Jisung recalls in horror. "To our luck, the guy or his other friend didn't hear Chenle, but that dude– that one dude looked straight at us and I had to pull Chenle down to hide ourselves."
"And that's when I told him." He ends his story. Nothing but silence was present for a second or two.
Until Giselle sums it up, "so basically Chenle called out Jeno's name when he saw a guy wearing a jacket similar to his, and that guy's friend heard you while he and their other friend didn't?"
"Exactly what I just said." Jisung whines, "it was so embarrassing!"
"Okay, in my defense..." Chenle starts off, the other three look at him. "I didn't know." He says blatantly.
Giselle once again rolls her eyes at these two boys, "how can you mistakenly call Jeno's name upon seeing some guy wearing a similar jacket to his, when Jeno's blonde!" She emphasizes, gently pulling a strand of Jeno's dyed hair.
Jisung frantically nods in agreement, hands also gesturing towards their friend. "Exactly!"
"Well, I just thought Jeno decided to color his hair black again and you guys would surprise me or something." Chenle nonchalantly shrugs his shoulders.
Jisung groans, getting stressed out at how calm his friend is. "I'm never going out of this classroom again."
"You're being dramatic."
Jeno couldn't help but laugh, patting Chenle on the shoulder, "it's okay, guys. It was a common mistake."
"Wh– How?!" Jisung and Giselle share a look, "you know what? Whatever, I'm done with this topic. It's traumatizing me." Jisung walks away, entering their classroom, leaving Jeno and Chenle laughing at him while Giselle shakes her head at what just happened.

"JENO! HEY, LEE JENO!"
Renjun couldn't help but perk up, looking at the source of the loud voice screeching his friend's name.
He sees two boys from the 4th floor in the ABM building, one of them was taller than the other. The one who screamed his friend's name was familiar, he seems to be part of the basketball team, but he can't really remember his name.
Once he meets the taller boy's eyes, the boy pulls his friend down with him to hide from Renjun's stare– well, not just his stare, but from a lot of eyes looking at them thanks to his friend's very obnoxious voice.
Renjun blinks before looking back to his two friends who oddly enough didn't hear Jeno's name being called. Especially when it was supposedly aimed towards Jaemin once he remembers his friend wearing Jeno's brown varsity jacket.
Speaking of, Jaemin almost spilled some sauce on it when he took a bite of his food. "Dude, be careful!" Renjun scolds him, almost shrieking in panic.
Jaemin waves him off, "relax, Junnie. I won't let this jacket all dirty by the end of the day. So you won't have to count my last days, alright?" He nonchalantly reassures him.
God, does Renjun want to smack his head.
"You better not, I don't want to explain to my friend how you ruined his favorite jacket." He grumbles before finishing his burger. "And I return things very neatly, you know."
"If I did, I'll explain to him myself." Jaemin says with confidence.
Donghyuck beside him lets out a snort, "yeah right, good luck with that."
"You don't believe in me?" Jaemin fakes an offended look, a hand dramatically resting on where his heart is.
"Please, Jaem, you failed to even give a well-proof explanation why you couldn't pass that one project in 11th grade." Donghyuck snickers, earning an annoyed glare from his friend.
"Listen, man, we don't speak about that time anymore." He turns to flash Renjun with a cheeky smile. "I promise I won't leave a mark on your friend's jacket by the end of the day."
Renjun didn't seem to believe that, but the topic was pushed to the side once the bell rang. Having them rush back to their respective classrooms.

Renjun grabs his backpack once he is finished with cleaning their classroom, waving his groupmates goodbye. He had to stay back for a while, cleaning up the mess his classmates made throughout this day.
Meaning he'll have to walk home alone, Ryo and Jeno already left early, his younger brother messaging him that he was taking too long and they'll just have to see each other at the house.
Also, Ryo got really hungry so Jeno willingly took him out to grab a snack. As if on cue, Renjun's stomach growls quietly. Sighing, he walks out of the classroom and locks the door, surprised to see Jaemin waiting for him on the 1st floor.
"Here, see? Not even a drop of sauce on that thing." Jaemin proudly says, lips forming a wide grin as Renjun double checks the brown varsity jacket. "Tell your friend thanks for saving my life today. I owe him one in the future."
"Yeah, whatever, hopefully this won't happen again."
"Tell your friend he smells really nice too." Seeing a smirk plastered on his friend's face, Renjun squints his eyes.
"Gross, man. I'm not telling him that." He scrunches his nose.
"Why not? I'm sure he'd like to know."
"Ew, stop talking Jaemin and just go home." Playfully pushing him to the side, Renjun walks off, ignoring the faint laugh from Jaemin.
"See you tomorrow, Junnie!"
