Ch 2: Time. Time...

"Mother, please. I can figure it out on my own. You don't-"

"Yes I damn need to! If you're not going to do anything about this, then I damn need to!" Narcissa Malfoy's voice reverberated through the Hall, sending Draco into a stupor.
His mother had never raised her voice at him.

Never.

A flash of grief passed through the mother's eyes, as she sat down on the armchair, her hands trembling from the aftershock. She put her head in her hands, frowning at the growing headache she was having. "Draco, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shout. I'm just, I'm just worried for you."

Draco wrapped his arms around his mother, engulfing her in a tight embrace.
He didn't want to let go. He wanted to stay there forever and ever. He wanted the world to forget him, to leave him out, to go on without him.

"When will you find someone, whom you can hold like this Draco? When?" Narcissa's voice audibly softened as she spoke.

"I will, Mother. Soon,"Draco assured her ,squeezing both of her shoulders lightly.

"Master Draco ! Master Draco!" a high pitched voice rang throughout the hallway as an elf raced down to them , from the kitchen, looking at the younger Malfoy with frantic eyes.

Both of them looked up at the house elf, who was now panting and sweating profusely, ragged hands clutching the wooden frame of the old mahogany door for support.

"Twinkie-what's wrong?"Draco asked as he stepped forward.

"M-master Blaise is w-waiting for Master D-Draco at Andre's. W-With ice cream. He is shouting in the m-muggle phone for Master Draco. Ice c-cream  will me-melt." She managed to get the words out before scurrying off to the kitchen again, smelling burnt paella.

Draco bit the inside of his cheek, already analyzing the perfect spot to smack the ice cream on his best friend.

He smirked, but frowned yet again. His mo-

Narcissa laughed lightly, patting Draco on his arm. "Go! The ice cream will melt! It'll be a horrendous catastrophe!"

Draco groaned as he kissed his mother on the cheek and left the Manor, putting on his coat on the way to their 'date' spot.

The glimmer in her eyes disappeared as soon as her son did.

Her eyes wandered over to the hourglass at the center of the great oak table at the far end of the room. She watched the sand, as it gradually fell down to the bottom, blending into its surrounding.

Time. That's exactly what Draco didn't have.

Hey! Did you all like this? Lemme know!
