Chapter 2
As Virgil ran downstairs, he felt a hand being gently placed on his shoulder.
"Virgil, is everything okay?" A familiar voice asked. Curiously, Virgil turned around to see Roman standing there. He wasn't expecting Roman to be the one concerned about him.
"Oh Roman, it's just you" Virgil sighed.
"What do you mean it's just me. Am I not good enough?" Roman asked, offended.
"No nothing like that. I just didn't think that you'd be one to be concerned about me. I thought you hated me"
"Hated you? Of course not. Look, I may have said some mean things in the past but that's all behind us now, right?"
"Yeah yeah whatever" Virgil rolled his eyes as he pushed Roman's hand away and began to continue walking downstairs. Suddenly, he was hit with a thought which stopped him in his tracks. What if Deceit went for Roman first? What if he aimed to share his secret with Roman first? Roman would be the easiest one to tell and turn on Virgil and Deceit was known to start off with the easiest first. Virgil knew that he had to stop Roman from finding out and the best way to do that was to distract him and ensure that he was around him so he knew if Deceit tried to tell Roman his secret.
"Roman?" Virgil turned around and called out the other side's name, causing him to turn around too.
"Yeah Panic at the everywhere"
"I was wondering if you wanted to watch a disney movie with me downstairs"
"Virge, are you sure you're okay?" Roman raised an eyebrow. "You usually prefer to be alone. Besides, literally a few seconds ago you seemed to want me gone"
"Look, do you want to watch a movie or not!?" Virgil snapped, ignoring what Roman was saying.
"Okay fine. Geez"
Time skip
The two were sat in the living room watching "The Black Cauldron", Virgil's favourite film. Roman was smiling the entire time, his mouth not moving. However, his eyes weren't fixed on the screen as his attention was somewhere else. What Virgil didn't notice was a yellow flicker in Roman's eye. There's were voices running through Roman's mind, voices that could only come from one trait: Deceit.
It was as if Deceit had taken over Roman's body somehow but Virgil was too busy watching the movie to notice. Deceit's plan was going perfectly. All he had to do was tell the creative side a few more lies in order to gain his trust and then spill the truth. With every word Deceit told him in his mind, Roman listened like an obedient child.
"You are by far the most loved side"
"You are so amazing and fabulous"
"I love your hair"
"Everyone loves you"
For a while, it was just sarcastic compliments that Roman accepted as facts. But then, the real lies came in.
"Well, everyone loves you except one: Virgil"
"He hates your guts"
"He wants to steal everything from you"
"He thinks that he is so much better than you"
"He is the enemy"
"You have to take out the competition"
Roman's smile eventually dropped as his joy was replaced with anger for Virgil. Finally, Virgil noticed something wrong with Roman: the anger burning in his yellow eye. Gasping, he knew that Deceit was in there.
"Roman, buddy, is everything okay?" Virgil asked as he frantically waved his hand in front of Roman's face but Roman failed to notice. It was as if he was in some kind of trance.
"I know of a way to destroy him, a little secret that will ruin him forever. Go to your room and I will tell you all you need to know" Deceit told Roman, although Virgil couldn't hear a word Deceit said. Nodding, Roman stood to his feet.
"I have to go" Roman growled, clearly mad at Virgil for some reason, before running of to his room, slamming the door behind him. Panicking, Virgil ran after him.
Meanwhile
As soon as Roman reached his room, Deceit left Roman's body and appeared in front of him in his own body, an evil smirk across his face.
"So, what's this big secret?" Roman asked as he crossed his arms.
"Well you see, Virgil-"
Suddenly; the door swung open and Virgil ran in. The door pushed Deceit against the wall, interrupting and angering him.
"Ugh, what do you want?" Roman asked with disgust.
"Just thought you might want to listen to this" Virgil pulled his phone out of his pocket and began to play some of Roman's favourite musical theatre songs. A smile grew on Roman's face and all of his anger disappeared as he began to dance to the music.
"This is my jam" Roman laughed as he got lost in the music. Virgil couldn't help but smugly smirk to himself. An annoyed Deceit pushed the door off of himself and appeared next to Virgil.
"You may have beat me with this one but this isn't the end. You've just given me more of an opportunity to strike my next target" Deceit whispered into his ear before vanishing in a puff of yellow smoke.
Sighing, Virgil placed his phone down on Roman's bedside table and, gently shutting the door behind him, ran towards where he knew Deceit's next target would be: Logan's room
