Society For The Unknown (SFTU)

Mahi enters the building which is solely dedicated to the purpose of researching the unknown. It's totally utterly ridiculous that such societies exist and that his father is actually one of it's founders.

Faking a smile at each of the members, greeting them in the hallway with his usual expression, he makes way to the Cheif's cabin.

"Are you in Dad?"

With a soft knock, he enters the room.

A middle aged man in his early fifties greets him, Anvesh Saxena, his own father. 

True to his name, his father is always looking into cases related to unknown entities, like you know what.

"Ye kya sun raha hu papa?" Mahi asks not bothering to greet his father, "ek aur case? Are you sure... ye sari cheezei unknown entity k waje se hui hai?"

His Dad moves to pat him on the shoulder with a loving smile, "ha beta. Aur nai toh kya? Aur jaana padega... society ne tay kia."

Mahi rolls his eyes, "wo pagal ladki... wo bhi aarahi hai?"

He asks, feeling somewhat sheepish. His dad laughs, "haha. Kon Angel? Arey wo toh pyari kudi hai beta'

"Pyari? Wo toh bandarnii hai, papa. Aur! Teen saal se line maarri hai mujhe!" Mahi pouts, looking away.

His father laughs harder at this. "Toh tumhe pata hai wo tumhe line maar rahi hai? Huh?"

Mahi sighs, "ye kaisa sawal hai, papa. Sab ko pata hai!"

He sighs again, "pagli."

"Kaafi loyal hai, nahi? Jo teen saal se tumpe atki hui. Doosri ladkiya toh kisi aur ko dhundhleti hai, nahi? Hahaha"

Mahi avoids eye contact. no he's not shy! why would he be? And This is not the topic he wanted to discuss with his father.thankfully, his dad is the one to divert the topic.

"Waise, wo hai kamal ki kudi. Humari best investigators me se ek hai. Usne ek insaan ko Bat bante dekha... kaafi dilchaspi hai usey in cheezon me... kaafi bahadur bhi hai...apna kaam dhang se karti hai. Humari society ka naam roshan karri hai wo."

"Bat bante dekha, ridiculous! Papa aap bhul gaye uske bare mei ye bolna-- thodi pagal, and over energetic. Kabhi khatm hi nai hoti uski baatei..."

His dad gives him a look. He falls silent. Why is he saying that? And why the hell is he thinking about her. Well, wo buri nahi hai, says his mind. He pushes those thoughts back.

"Anyways papa, ye sab bakwas hai. Aap ye sab karna kab chodenge? Investigation, cases, expedition jo bhi bolo. Ye sab time waste hai. And iss umer mei, aap aaram kyu nahi karte?."

"Bete, itna budda nai hu main." chuckles his Dad, "waise agar tumhe in cheezo mei yakeen nai toh tum society k member kyu bane? Jao apne khud k raaste pe."

Mahi nods, "han jaunga papa. Par... aap jaante ho na, main aapko akele nai chod sakta."

"Arey main kaha akela hu, meri team hai.. Aur meri pyari bachiyan, Ishika aur Angel... jo mujhe apne papa ki tarah treat karte hai."

Mahi nods at that smiling, "sahi papa... lekin"

"Beta main tumhe settle hote hue dekhna chata hu.. Jaao apne raaste par. Dhundho apni manzil. Apna jeevan sathi."

He sighs again at his dad's words, "mujhe filhaal nai pata papa.. Main kis raaste pe jau. Jab tak mujhe kuch soojta nahi, main ek bete hone ka farz nibhaunga."

His dad gives a big, almost prideful smile. It's been 5 years now, 5 long years since he graduated. He's finished computer science engineering, and here he's researching the supernatural.

"Ek aur waja hai papa," he says looking into his dad's eyes, "mujhe ye prove karna hai ki aap sab log galat ho. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts... ye sab cheezei kahaniyon mei hoti hai... asli mei nahi."

His dad is the one to sigh. "Kaash ye sab sach ho beta, jo tum kehrahe ho. Agar tum humare saat chalrahe ho toh please, tayyariyan kardena. Humara trip jaldi shuru hoga."

Mahi nods solemly before leaving his dad's cabin.

Mahi's Dad

There's noway he can turn this down. It's something one of the co-founders wants, one sane man who invests a lot in the society. This trip has
to be made.

There's a constant worry in the back of his mind which Mahi wouldn't understand.

He's scared. What if something happens in one of these investigations they do? It's true that they didn't encounter anything supernatural yet... but if they did what will they do?

Mostly what will happen to Mahi?

He's scared for Mahi's life than his own... and the members of this society who sort of became his family.

What awaits them, only time will tell.
