Angel Khanna

One would call her a happy go lucky girl hailing from Chandigarh, who cared nothing about what others thought.

While discovering the society was a happenstance, she knows when she had first laid on Mahi, that she is hooked for life.

The feeling she gets when she sees him, it's the one you get in moments when your heart just says, this is the one.

She had called it off as a crush but slowly her feelings only intensified proving her wrong. To think she isn't the type of girl to fall in love at first sight and yet here she is, falling for him all over again as she sees him walking out of his Dad's cabin into the office.

"You should stop ogling him," says someone in her ear.

"Chup kar, badi aayi mere ko rokne wali..." she murmurs in retort without even looking at the girl beside her.

She knows it's Ishika. Who else can it be?Ishika is a great friend of hers whom she dearly loves, so no need to misunderstand.

With a cheery smile, she greets Mahi as he walks by.

"Hello, Mahi. Howdy? looking handsome as ever!"

While Ishika and other girls clap hands to their mouths, Angel just grins.

Mahi smiles at her perhaps used to her compliment and mutters something on the lines of, "tum bhi..."

Which she hears and jumps up and down on her spot, "sachi? Main achi lag rahi hu? Aaj maine salwar kameez pehna. No skirt or suit... aur matching jhumke, jo tumne mere birthday pe gift kiye. Ache hai na mujhpe..?"

She smiles brightly at him. He continues to smile at her for which she's grateful. People can think of her as an excited little puppy, she doesn't care. Because at the moment Mahi is the only one filling all her senses.

"Wo aisa sirf tumhara dil behlaane k liye kehraha hai, hai na Mahi?"

She pouts at Ishika's words. "Shut up, kamchor bandarni, way to go and burst my bubble. Mahi bolo na, main sach mein achi lagri hu na?"

She pouts like a kid. He laughs probably at her innocence.

"Haan."

Those are the words needed to put her smile back on her face.

"They suit you."

An added compliment.

"Acha mujhe thoda kaam hai. Papa ne diya.."

With that, he's off.

She looks at his back longingly, "aww thodi der toh baat karta.."

"Earth to! Ek new case aya..hume bhi usko study karna chahiye." Ishika reminds her.

"Case?" She makes a face, "kya hum CID wale hai? Jo tum case case karti rehti ho? Yahan ke sab log boring. Mahi k siva.."

Another smile on her face, she sits in her chair by her desk.

Ishika dumps at file into her lap.

"Le padhle."

"Yar ye sab na ab boring lagta hai." she says flipping through the file, "Mahi sahi kehta. Tumhe pata na Ishu, usko inn sab cheezon mei vishwas nai. Mera bhi vishwaas toot raha hai ab."

"Tujhe wo jo bhi kehta thik hi lagega. Waise tune uss admi ko bat bante dekha na... matlab vampires hai, yaad aya?"

She taps her head once then shakes it.

"Ishu, uss waqt main neend mei thi. Meri tabiyat thik nai thi. Yaad hai na."

"Haan. aur tumne neend mei drive krte humara accident karwaa hi dia tha. Kaise bhul sakti, Mahi na hota toh najane kya hota..."

She perks up at Ishu's words again, smiling dreamily remembering of the night when Mahi just jumped in to save her, save all of them. She doesnt remember but he held the steering from the seat next to hers and saved all of them. Then he carried her out once the vehicle stopped tending to her until she gained consciousness. That was when it happened. There was a man walking on the road, in the dimly lit roads amidst forests, she couldn't see him properly. And the next instant, he vanished. Only a bat was visible against the full moon in the sky.

"Mujhe wo dardnak din yaad nahi karna. Par Mahi ko yaad karna hai, mera hero.. Aww.." she says smiling, clapping her hands together.

"Haan mujhe toh bilkul yaad nai krna, pata nai kaise dedia humne tumhe steering. Sab ko marwa hi dia tumne." Ishika comments.

"Shut up! Tujhe mujhme sirf burayiya hi dikhti hai. Wo adivasi log, unse kisne bachaya? Maine sab ko alert kia. Aur sab ko drive bhi kia. Warna maar maar ke wo hume bharta banaa dete."

She glares at her friend who only smiles.

"Angie, tu sach mei Angel hai, wo bhi badi pyari si.. Main mazak kar rahi thi. Par sach mei,yaar. Kisi ne humare saat prank pata nai kaise karlia. Ghost and supernatural k naam pe bhejdia Mahabaleshwar k junglon mei."

She nods, a serious expression on her face after listening to Ishika. Well, she can be serious when she wants. So yeah, she can never forget that night, they ventured deep into the woods and reached a shrine which belonged to Tribal people who were soon out to hunt them down. She felt someone's presence in the bushes and alerted her group headed by Anvesh Uncle. Mahi was there too. But had it not been her, they would all have been dead, shot by arrows. It's weird, how Mahi can't focus when things become dangerous. He suffers from headaches but in the end, he did save all of them as well.

"But the best thing out of that. Sab jaan gaye Angel kitni bahadur hai."

"Sab ye bhi jaante ki tu kitni pagal hai. Mahi bhi....."

"Ishika main peet dalungi tumhe.."

"Ahaha! Come maaro."

"Hey take it back. Main sach mei bura maanjaungi."

As she looks ready to pounce on Ishika, the latter laughs.

Angel slumps into her chair, seeing that everyone in the hallway are eyeing her weirdly.

"Kyu tang karti mere ko?" she pouts again.

Ishu pulls her cheek, "Acha lagta mujhe. Waise tumhe Mahi ko tang nai krna chahiye itna."

Angel gives her a look, "hein? Kyu na karu? Ye mera haq hai!"

"I mean come on teen saal se jhelraha hai wo tumhe. Give him a break."

"Jhel raha hai na Ishu," she smiles, "matlab use acha lagta hai."

"Ho sakta hai wo hichkicharaha hai... bol nai paraha teri moo pe."

"Ishu main tera moo tod dungi."

Now Ishu is the one to pout, "aww dost ka moo todegi?"

"Aur nei toh kya paka mat mujhe."

"Hahaahaha!! Angie tera chehra!!"

As Ishika doubles over in laughter, she can't help but smile at her friend. Soon she's laughing too. She can't be mad. She knows Ishu only enjoys teasing her. As much as it irks her. She loves it too. Wait bachu, mera bhi waqt ayega, then I'll pull your leg.

She smiles wickedly. Tab pachtayegi tu,..

"Oye? Hello... maine kaha Library chale? Waha jake padhte file."

Angel nods at Ishika and the girls are soon in the Library located on the top floor of the building.

They take a seat by the table in the last.

"Pyar karti hai na tu Mahi se?" Ishu asks her casually.

"Hmm."

She huffs looking away. Ishu laughs.

"Chalo kuch toh maana. Agar wo tumse pyar na kare toh?"

"Kaise na karega?? Arey shadi, bache, humare bachon k bache, aur humari 50th wedding anniversary tak ka planning karlia maine. Usko karna padega mujhse pyar bas!"

Biting her lip, Angel realizes that she has shouted this aloud. Ishika... maregi tu aaj! Mere hatho..

She glares at Ishu who apologizes.

"Sorry yar. Mereko nahi pata tu itni zor se bolegi."

"Main tujhe chodungi nai.. Ishi.."

Angel attempts to smack her head. But Ishu ducks.

The wto girls sit. Angie pouting and fuming.

"Gussa thuk do please, Angie."

"Hmm.. sochti hu. You have to earn my forgiveness."

"Angie, main bas tere feelings janna chahti thi. Agar tumhe ussey pyar hai toh tu bolti kyu nai? Agar usey koi aur milgayi toh tera kya hoga.."

Angel almost smiles at Ishu's words. So this is the real reason behind all the teasing. What a sweet friend she has got. Well, she knew it all along

"Koi aur kaise milegi usko, Ishu? Wo handsome toh hai.. Par.. aise moo latka ke baithi toh koi kaise ayegi huh?"

As she huffs, Ishu merely smiles, "waise tumne dekha tha, pichle teen salon mei kitni sari ladkiya aayi thi, society mei join karne, sirf Mahi ko line maarne."

"Main unhe maar maar ke churma banadungi. Shrap dedungi unko. Besharam auratei!aane do.. Dekhti hu main."

Angel begins to fume again, almost getting up from her chair.

"Arey shant behna, wo sab khud hi bhag gayi.. Jab unhe pata chala humara job kitna dangerous hai."

"Darpok ladkiya..."

With a shake of her head, she focuses on the file laid on the table.

"Angie... what I'm saying is, you know,.. I'm only trying to give you a push. Ab tu please gussa thuk do. Main sirf mazak mazak mei-"

"Main gussa hu tumse.. Balti bharke ice cream khilao meko."

Ishu laughs at her, "baalti bhar ke? Khaa paaogi?"

"Hanji." she smiles.

Ishu nods, "thik hai. Par tum sabse pehle Mahi ko wo teen magical shabd boldo..."

Angel looks away. Can she really tell him? Ishu is right. She should while she has time.

"Iss mission k baad bolungi."

The girls exchange smiles and the day has only begun.
