Chapter 34

~~~~Rosie's POV~~~~
        Something was wrong. I could feel it. The tension was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. As I sat around the table eating dinner, I glanced around the table and noticed that everyone was glancing at each other as well. All those except for some of the other guests. Eric glanced at Brigid, Brigid glanced at Eric and Daniel, Daniel glared at Eric, and I looked at everyone.
        "What is going on with everyone?", I asked breaking the silence. A few of the other guests had gotten up and left the table when they noticed the tension. I didn't blame them. Once I had spoken, it was like everyone had dropped their eyes to their laps and never looked up again. Everyone except Daniel. Daniel was still glaring at Eric with hatred and murder in his eyes.
        "Daniel, what is wrong with you today? You were fine before we went to bed.", I asked him. His glare never lessened, only now it was like he was staring into Eric's soul. I placed my hand on the top of his hand. I thought it would sooth him. It somewhat worked, but he still glared at Eric except now his glare lessened a bit. "What is with everyone today? Why is eveyone acting so weird?", I asked again.
        Daniel looked at Eric again and said, "Tell her, Eric. Tell her why we are all on edge." I looked at Eric and Eric looked in between me and Daniel, but he never said a thing. "Eric, what is going on?", I asked gently. I was begining to get scared. What was happening? Why was everyone nervous? He sighed, but remained silent. Daniel grew frustrated.
        There was something that he wanted me to know. "Daniel, why don't you tell me what it is?", I asked. He shook his head saying, "I can't Rosie. He has to tell you. It seems that your father has been scheming." Eric's eyes instantly shot up at Daniel.
        "What are you talking about, you insolent pup?", Eric growled. Daniel and Eric both glared at each other. "Tell her about the plan that you came up with.", Daniel growled. I was confused. What plan? What were they talking about? "What are you talking about?", I asked. When Eric remained silent, Daniel answered.
         "Well my dear, it seems that your father has different plans for us." "What do you me-", Daniel cut me off. "He came up with a plan to split us up. He  was going to bribe or blackmail Brigid to cheat on you with her and then have you catch us in the act.", Daniel continued. I was shocked. There was no way that this was true. Why would he do this?
        "I don't believe this. Please, Eric, tell me that this isn't true.", I said to Eric. I then looked at Daniel, "Daniel, you know that I will always believe you, but I just don't believe that he would do this." I looked to Eric again. "Please. I can't handle this. Please tell me that this isn't true.", I said on the verge of tears. I couldn't handle this now. Dealing with this and beign pregnant was a bad mix. I knew that I was going to cry because my hormones were all over the place.
        I didn't know that I was crying until I felt Daniel's arm around my shoulders. Eric sighed. "Yes, it is true.", he said. My heart shattered. He couldn't have done that. "No, no I don't believe that. Why would you do something like that? I thought that you were begining to like him, and then you do something like this. You know what? I can't do this now.", I said getting up out of my seat.
        Daniel got up with me. "Rosie, please come back.", he said as I left the room and went up stairs.
~~~~Daniel's POV~~~~

        Why did I tell her? I knew that she would get emotional at hearing this plan, but I didn't expect this. "Why did you make up that plan? Why would you split us up? She can't take care of our children all by herself. What were you thinking ?!", I yelled at him.

        Eric looked at me sadly, then his eyes widened. "Wait. Did you just say 'children'?", he said. I nodded my head. "Yes. She's pregnant. She is four months and very hormonal. She has a lot on her plate. She has to take care of herself, take care of Felicity, take care of the inn, and now she has to deal with this.", I said.

        Eric looked guilty. "Why didn't she tell me about the baby?", he asked. I was fuming. He didn't have a right to know and now, he upset Rosie. "She didn't tell you because she didn't want you to know. It was none of your business.", I growled. I couldn't deal with him anymore. I turned away from him and ran upstairs to comfort my wife.

        I knocked on the door, but stopped when I heard her crying. "Rosie, I coming in.", I said gently. I slowly opened the door, and the sight before me broke my heart. Rosie, my headstrong, brave, stubborn, wife was crumbled on the floor bawling her eyes out. I had never seen her like this, so torn apart. I slowly walked up to her and wrapped her in my arms and just held her on the floor and comforted her. "Wh-why would he do th-this t-to us?", she asked through her sobs.

        I couldn't answer her. I just tightened my arms around her and rested my head on hers as she laid her head on my chest. It wasn't long until her sobs stopped and hiccups wracked her body, then she was silent. The only sound coming from her was the sound of her slow breathing and I knew that she was asleep.

        When I figured she was fast asleep, I picked her up and gently placed her in her bed and gently left the room, but stopped when I heard her sweet voice saying, "Please don't leave me. I need-", she was cut off and small snores left her mouth.

         I chuckled softly and said, "I promise. I won't leave you. I'm just getting you some food." I quietly left the room. When I returned with a tray of food, I found Rosie not in her bed. I placed the tray down on the bedside table and noticed that the patio doors were open and Rosie was standing outside.

        I walked up behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist and laid my head on her shoulder. "What are you doing out here? You'll catch cold.", I told her. She didn't reply. She just sighed and leaned into me.

        I knew that she was tired and when she yawned, my accusation was confirmed. "Come on, Rosie. Come back to bed.", I said as I carefully led her back in to the room and closed the patio doors. When I came back to her, I gave her the tray of food. When she was finished eating, I tucked her into bed. "You won't leave me, will you?", she asked. "I'll be right back. I'm going to say goodnight to Felicity.", I said.

        When I reached Felicity'y room, I slowly opened the door to see my little girl getting ready for bed. "Excuse me, miss, but have you seen my beautiful daughter? I couldn't find her anywhere.", I told her jokingly. She smiled at me, laughing and said, "Daddy, I'm right here.", she said. "Where?"

        "Here, daddy here.", she laughed. "Oh, there she is!", I said and picked her up in my arms and twirled her around in the air. "Are you ready for bed, my flower?", I asked her. She nodded her head and stifled a yawn. I tucked her into bed and kissed her forehead before she quickly drifted off to sleep. Once she was asleep, I made my way back to Rosie and we both fell asleep quickly.
