Chapter 31

~~~~Daniel's POV~~~~
It felt like hours just waiting for the doctor to tell us what was wrong with my wife. To say I was scared was an understatement. I was a living hell. Finally the doctor came out of the room. He sighed before saying, "Rosie will be fine. She was just a little dehydrated."
I was relieved and Brigid and I hugged. I knelt down to the floor and prayed to God. I was so thankful. I was happy, so happy that I had tears flowing from my eyes. But, our mini celebration was soon over when the doctor cleared his throat saying, "But, I did find something else." I froze. What else could he have had found? Was she sick? Was she dying?
"What did you find?", I asked. I was nervous. "Well, one cause to her nausea is dehydration, but another cause is to certain changes within her body.", the doctor said. I was confused. What did he mean? What kind of changes?
The doctor sighed in annoyance to mine and Brigid's confused looks. The doctor continued saying, "Rosie is expecting." I froze, still slightly confused, but Brigid asked the question first. "Expecting, as in..." I snapped out of my thoughts. "A baby?", I finished Brigid's sentence.
The doctor nodded and started on his way out. "Wait", called out to the doctor. He stopped and turned my way. "Is she awake? Can I go in and see her?", I asked. The doctor smiled and nodded his head. As he was leaving I turned to Brigid saying, "Here, take this and give it to the doctor. For all of his troubles." She nodded and took the money and ran after the doctor.
After she left, I slowly and quietly made my way into the room. I didn't know if she was awake or asleep and I didn't want to wake her if she was. When I walked in, I saw her sitting up in bed and reading a book. When she noticed that I was standing there, she smiled and tears formed in her eyes. I smiled too and ran over to her and embraced her tightly.
I was so happy. Not only was my wife alright, but, we were going to have another baby. I pulled away slightly, resting my forehead on hers and whispered into her ear, "I love you", and I kissed her cheek, "So much." She started to cry softly saying, "I love you, too." I held her in my arms, afraid that if I let her go, she would disappear.
When we pulled apart, I laid in bed next to her and rested my hand on the small bump that was starting to form. At that moment, I realized that this was real, and that seemed to make me cry even more. As the tears flowed from my eyes, I lowered my head down to her stomach and kissed the little bump that was my child saying, "I love you more than anything in the world. Besides your mother and big sister of course.
I promise that no harm will ever come to you. Not while I'm around." I brought my head back to meet Rosie's lips and kissed her with as much passion as I could muster. How could this beautiful enchantress be mine? What did she see in me? What do I have to offer her? I shook these thoughts from my head. She must have seen something of value in me. "What is it?", she asked quietly.
I turned my head and looked into her chocolate brown eyes that seemed to make me get lost in them. I smiled and said, "What do you see in me?" She looked slightly confused. "What ever do you mean?", she asked. "What made you want to marry me?"
She thought a moment and then she replied, "Your heart. You're good, generous, loving and always there for me when I need you. You are my best friend. When I'm with you, I feel warm, happy. I feel like I am at home when I am with you. You are my home.", she said.
I couldn't help the tears that fell from my eyes at her reply. I smiled and brought my lips back to hers in an everlasting kiss that would surpass all other kisses until the end of time.
