Chapter 26

I thanked him and made my way to the ticket booth and bought my ticket for America. America, here I come.

"ALL ABOARD!", yelled the sailor. I slowly made my way up the walkway aboard the ship. I didn't want to leave, but I had to. As I boarded, I was shown my stateroom. Considering that my ticket was a second class ticket, my stateroom was actually nice. Wow. Running away from your parents can take a lot out of you. Now that I was in my stateroom, I decided to get some rest. Hopefully by tomorrow I would be in America.

~~~~The Next Day~~~~
I was awoken suddenly by the sound of a loud, blaring horn. I guess that meant we were here. I got up and gathered my stuff and made my way out of my stateroom. I walked out on deck and felt around my hand for the ring that the driver gave me last night. I never got his name.
After getting off the ship, I walked around clearly lost. I didn't know where I was. As I was walking, I noticed a young woman standing on a corner by a bar. "Excuse me, mademoiselle, do you know where I am?", I asked. She turned and looked at me. "Why, you're in the greatest city in the world. New York City.", she said.
"Thank you", I said as I started to walk away. "Wait, what's your name?", she asked. I stopped. "My name is Rosie. What's your?," "Brigid.", she said with a smile. "Where are you heading?", she asked. "Do you know where I can find a Daniel? His father gave me his family crest, but didn't give me a last name.", I said.
Brigid took the ring out of my hand and studied it. After about a minute, Brigid's face lit up like a light bulb. "I knew that I had seen this before. Yeah I know where his is. I'll take you to him. Come on.", she said as she led the way.
I followed Brigid through New York city until we reached an inn. "Here we are. He owns this place. The best inn in New York." I followed her inside and up to the front desk. There was a round older man sitting at the front desk asleep in a wooden chair. "Excuse me, sir", I asked, but Bridget cut me off, "Pudge, wake up!", Brigid yelled at this man, Pudge.
"Who's there and who's waking me up?", Pudge asked. "I'm sorry sir, but that was my friend-" "I should've known that it was Brigid.", he said. "Well maybe if you weren't sleeping on the job, she wouldn't need to wake you up", said a new voice coming into the room.
I turned my head in the direction of the voice and was met with a handsom man with beautiful curly brown hair and the brownest eyes that I had ever seen. "Hello Daniel. This is Rosie. She said that your father sent her to you. Give him the ring, Rosie.", Brigid said. I slowly made my way towards Daniel with the ring in my hand.
I handed him the ring and he studied it closely, but when his eyes fell on the crest, they widened. "Where did you get this?", he said darkly. His eyes glared into my deep brown eyes with hatred drippeing from them. "I ask again, where did you get this? Did you kill my father for this? Did you steal this from him?", he asked again.
I shrunk back as his glare and voice hardened. "I swear I didn't kill him or steal from him. He was my driver last night. I drove me to the docks where I boarded to go to America. He gave me the ring to give to you. He sent me. I swear.", I said. I was scared. What if he didn't take care of me. What if he threw me out onto the streets.
"Well, you must be telling the truth because my father wouldn't just give it to anyone and die a thousand deaths before he would let anyone take it from him. I apologize for my actions. Welcome to New York and to my inn. My name is Daniel.", he said and held out his hand for me to shake. I took hold of his hand and he placed a gentle kiss on the surface of it. "My name is Rosie."
~~~~4 Years Later~~~~

"Good morning, Rosie.", Daniel said as he came into the room and kissed my cheek. i can't believe that it has been 4 years since we met and now we are offically married. Daniel proposed to me 2 years ago on Christmas Eve. I guess it was fate that I would end up in America and find him. I really loved him and he really loved me too.

"Mommy.", my 3 year-old daughter, Felicity said as she came running to me from Daniel's office. When she reached me, I grabbed her and lifted her into my arms and stood behind the front desk as the bell on the door rang, signaling that we had a costumer. "Welcome, sir. How can I help- *Gasp* What are you doing here?"
