Chapter 15
After all that has happened, Christine, Raoul, and I still were able to have fun, but we still couldn't afford to forget the danger I was in for we all knew that my kidnapper would try again and wouldn't stop until he succeeded.
After breakfast, Raoul, Christine, and I walked to the park that only a short walk away.
We played, we ate, we played some more, but all the while I had a feeling that I was being watched.
I didn't want to worry Christine and Raoul, so I never told them of the strange feeling that was creeping into my body.
I would nervously look around at an given time.
After some time I got a new vibe that I was starting to worry Christine and Raoul.
They kept asking me if I was alright thinking that the more they asked me that it would get me to crack, but it didn't.
It was just annoying. "Yes I'm fine! Please stop badgering me!"
I didn't realize I was screaming until I noticed the look of shock and unexpected fear on the faces of Raoul and Christine's faces.
I stood there in horror and just as the anger came it left.
I could not believe I had just yelled at them. Tears started to blur my vision.
I shook my head ignoring the remarks from Christine and Raoul telling the it was okay.
Clearly it wasn't. He got up and started to come near me. I started to panic.
My heart started to race. He was going to hit me. I just knew it. Everything he said to me was a lie.
He was going to hit me just like father. Tears started to blur my vision as Raoul was only a few feet away.
I brought my hands up to cover my face and couldn't help the little scream that was coming out of my mouth.
I shut my eyes tight so I didn't see what was happening, and that's when I felt it.
I felt the stinging pain in my cheek. I looked up through my wet teary eyes, and saw Raoul with an angry and frustrated look on his face.
"Stop that screaming like an insecure little child! People are staring at us because of your foolishness.
You are acting like an immature child after being told she can't have what she wants.
You will act your age or you will see how mean I can be and trust me, you won't like it," Raoul whispered into my ear, his voice dripping venom.
More tears flooded my eyes. Before I knew it I was making a run for it. I didn't stop when Raoul and Christine were chasing me.
I didn't stop when I ran into the grocer's food cart. I didn't stop when I ran out into the street, almost getting hit by a car.
I did, however, stop when I heard Raoul shout to everyone that I ran by.
The grocer, the man in his car, I even happened to run by a police officer. I didn't even notice him standing there. He looked angry.
Apparently, when I ran by, I spilled his coffee on him. Everyone's eyes turned from Raoul towards the direction of his outstretched finger pointing in my direction.
When saw that all those people stopped what they were doing and started to chase after me, I ran at full speed. I ran faster than I ever thought I could.
Maybe it's the adrenaline. Or maybe I didn't realize that I was this fast. No it's the adrenaline. I thought to myself.
I didn't know where to go. I didn't have anywhere to go.
Nowhere to run. Everywhere I saw, I saw either Raoul, or those people who were chasing me. Nowhere to go.
Nowhere to hide. Nowhere to run. What do you do when you're cornered and don't have anywhere to run?
You run to the closest yet unpredictable place. And that's what I did. I ran home.
