Sugawara's POV

We rushed Hinata to the hospital in coach's car. Coach was driving with Takeda-sensei in the passenger seat. I was in the back seat holding Hinata.
Daichi, Kageyama Enoshita, Kinoshita and Yamaguchi were behind them in Daichi's car. Asahi, Tanaka, Nishinoya, Yachi, Kiyoko and Tsukkishima drove in Asahi's minivan.
When we got there Hinata was swept from my arms and we were all pushed into a private waiting room. We sat there for what felt like an eternity in silence before Kageyama spoke up.
"This is all my fault." His eyes didn't leave the ground. His brows were pulled together in an attempt to keep the tears at bay.
"Kid thi-" coach began before Kageyama cut him off.
"I yelled at him for not recieving the balls quick enough and I pushed him too hard and now he's in the fucking hospital!" he yelled.
"Kageyama-kun... you didn't cause those injuries," Takeda said quietly.
"How can you say that?!" He finally looked up at us, having lost the battle with his tears, which were now streaming down his face.
"You didn't do that. His mother did."
"W-what?" whas the general response from the room at large.

"His mother abused him," I said in a quiet voice, avoiding eyecontact with any of them as I felt Daich put his arm around my waist. "This wasn't your fault Kageyama-kun"
The waiting room was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop, that is until the door creaked open to reveal a short middle aged woman... with bright orange hair.
"Who are you?" She asked, suspicion laced in her voice.
"Hinata-kun's volleyball team," Ukai answered coldly, clearly figuring who the woman was. 
"He's not in volleyball." She stated.
"Yes he is?  He's been on the team since the begining of the year," Takeda said, confused. 
She rolled her eyes and sat in a chair in the corner of the room.
"Hinata-sama, I think it's best that you leave," Ukai said, standing from his chair. 
"Why the hell would I do that?  My son is in the hospital!"
"With injuries that you've caused.  When he wakes up he needs to be around people that love and support him, and you clearly can't do that."
"WHAT ARE YOU IMPLY-"
"That you're abusive.  I think its best to keep the police out of this for your son's sake, but if you don't leave then I won't have any other option."
She made an offended noise that was in between a gasp and a scoff before standing up and stomping towards the door.  Before she left she turned back to Ukai.  "Tell that brat not to bother coming home."
"Don't worry, that won't be a problem."
The woman scoffed again before walking out and slamming the door. 

*Time Skip*

No POV

After another eternity of waiting the team were told that Hinata had broken four ribs, sprained his wrist, and had a severe concussion.  They were also told that he had been playing on a sprained ankle and that he had bruises littering his body, only being covered by makeup. 
Being told this made Takeda, Asahi and both managers cry.  Noya and Tanaka looked about ready to hunt down Hinata's mother.  Suga hugged onto Daichi tighter and Kageyama and Ukai glared at the ground.  Kinoshita, Nirita, Enoshita, Yamaguchi and Tsukkishima looked at a loss for words, shock plastered across their faces. 
They were allowed to see him, but were warned to keep it down because of the concussion. 
"Oh Hinata..." Suga said before gently embracing his baby crow. 
"I'm sorry," Daichi said.  "As your captain, I should have noticed what was going on.  I should have been there to help you.  I'm sorry Hinata-kun, I failed you..." He bowed, surprised when Takeda and Ukai did the same.
"So have we Hinata-kun," Ukai said. 
"Please," Hinata said quietly, "Please stop.  I don't need or want your pitty."
"Boke... why didn't you tell me?"
"K-Kage?"
"Why didn't you tell me what was going on?"  Suga decided that this should be a private conversation and ushered everyone out of the room and back to the school to get their belongings and go home.  They were allowed the day off due to Hinata's need to be hospitalized. 
"We're supposed to be best friends... We're supposed to not have any secrets..."  He looked up at his spiker with teary eyes.  "So why didn't you tell me?"
"You didn't need to know," Hinata said. 
"DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW?!"  Hinata winced and covered his ears.  "H-Hina..." He reached forward, but stopped when Hinata flinched away.  "I'm sorry..."
"C-can you please go?  I want to be alone for a bit, ok?"
"Yeah sure.  I'm here for you, ok boke?"
"I know Bakeyama," Hinata said with a small smile. 
Kageyama walked out of the room, sending the ginger a small smile before closing the door. 
Once he was sure nobody else was coming to his room Hinata collapsed back onto the bed and let out the sobbs that he had been holding back.  He was in so much pain.  His chest was wrapped in bandages, his wrist had a black brace wrapped around it and he had bruises littering his body.  Ukai had told him what his mother had said befor being shoved out of the room by Suga.  He felt so alone.
