“Ok, I think Danni should go first!” I said. She got up and walked towards me.

“You better not be doing what I think you’re doing,” she whispered in my ear. She knows me too well. I gave her a knowing smile. The papers would normally have the dude’s names, but I had arranged the papers so when she gets one it would be Max. Yes, some people would call that cheating but I call it doing a good deed. She picked up a paper nervously , and started blushing.

“I got Max,” she said and Max also started blushing.I tried to stifle a laugh. They both went in the closet and I started the timer. At first I could hear their voices. They were actually talking?

 “No chatting!” I yelled and they shut up.  Seven minutes later…

“Guys your time is up, you can get out now!” Adrian yelled. They came out looking dazed. They both sat back down and didn’t meet any of us in the eye. I coughed. This got awkward all of a sudden. “Elysia how about you go?” I asked. “Sure why not,” she said and grabbed a paper. While everyone was busy staring at Danni and Max I had changed the box of names and arranged it so Elysia gets Mikey. “I got Mikey. F yeah- I mean that’s cool,” she said with her eyes popping. I could see Mikey trying to clear the emotion on his face. They both went into the closet. 7 minutes later…

“You guys can get out now!” I yelled at them, no response.

“Hello?” I asked. I banged on the door.

“Shut up!” I heard Elysia yell breathlessly.

“Well then, I guess they need more than 7 minutes. Come on guys let’s go watch a movie,” I said. I noticed Adrian was glaring at the closet.

 “What’s wrong?” I asked.

“They get seven minutes,” he replied with jealousy. I chuckled.

“Come on, you desperate man whore.”

I woke up sweating and shaking. I looked at Adrian next to me, he was soundly asleep. Samantha was on the floor in a sleeping bag in my room and Adrian and I were on my bed. The rest were in the living room. I had the weirdest nightmare of my life. It involved the end of the world, death of my loved ones, and my brother becoming a demon. It seemed so real. It’s only seven am, so early. Meeting is at 11 and I have to pick up my brother. Ugh, I forgot about that. Well, I can’t sleep now. I gave Adrian a quick kiss and walked out of my room. Everyone was sleeping. I went into the kitchen and ate some cereal. As I was washing the bowl and spoon in the sink, I felt like someone was sneaking up on me. Shit! I don’t have my stake with me. I turned around quickly and came across a demon. It was in the human form of a girl who looked twelve. I knew it was a demon because of its glowing grey eyes. All demon hunters can see the eyes, normal humans can’t. We both were just staring at each other when it lunged on me. I yelled. I didn’t have my stake, no other choice. Of course I knew self defense, but that’s not enough to finish this creature off. I punched it in the eye and it screeched and scratched my cheek. I groaned. Now it was on top of me, and I knew it was going to go for the kill. This one was strong; I couldn’t move at all. It bit my stomach and I gasped. They feed off of souls and he just took a piece of mine, gross. Its clawed hand went up and lunged at my heart. I gave a blood curdling scream. It was going to do it again. If it did, I would be dead. However, right as it was, it gave a scream so agonizing and I saw it slowly disappearing off of me. I looked up to a worried looking Max. He had staked the demon. I probably looked like I was going to faint. I guess Max must’ve seen it too because he picked me up in his arms.

 “You totally owe my ass,” he whispered. I was too tired to give a harsh comeback and plus I was grateful. Everyone else just walked in looking sleepy then they saw me and gasped. Man, they are heavy sleepers. Adrian came up and had this horrid expression on his face. He got me out of Max’s arms and he looked at Max with a face that was grateful. Elysia, Danni, and Sam looked shock but also on the verge of tears. Why are they worrying? I’m fine now. I wanted to tell them I was fine but the words didn’t come up. Mikey looked shocked mostly.

 “I’m sorry,” Adrian whispered. I couldn’t reply because I passed out right there.

I forced my eyes open. My head hurt, a lot. What happened?  I looked down and saw I had my pajama pants but only a bra on top. There was this huge white bandage on my stomach and a bandage the size of my fist where my heart should be. I remembered what happened. These bandages must be put a healing prayer in them. I touched my cheek, another bandage on this one.

 “Ah shit, I’m never leaving without my stake ever again,” I said.

“Wait, I think she’s awake! Now you have no excuse. Let me in!” I heard Adrian yell from outside my room.

“She must be tired and seeing her like-,” I heard Dr. Marge’s unfinished sentence. Adrian had barged into the room looking dead tired. Dr. Marge was the female doctor/healer in our hunting group. Adrian smiled when he saw me but then his smile faltered. Dr. Marge looked at him with an ‘I told you so’ expression.

“Guys what’s wrong?” I asked.
