Chapter 13- I don't want honor, I want normality
I woke up to screamo music. I looked up and saw Mikey cooking something and Elysia head banging and “singing” along. Huh, so it was a dream. I sat up. I rubbed my eyes and scratched the back of my head yawning. I stood up and walked towards the kitchen.
“Killed my hopes, called me names, broke my jaw, it’s always the same!” Elysia sang trying to go along with the scream-o. I covered my ears.
“What’s up with Leathermouth this early in the morning,” I said groaning.
“What are you talking about? Leathermouth is awesome!” Elysia said skipping around the small table in the kitchen. She was dressed in an over-sized t-shirt-I think it was Mikey’s- and Mikey was wearing sweatpants and no shirt. He was humming to the music making pancakes. I raised an eyebrow.
“You two are oddly joyful this morning,” I said accusingly. Elysia giggled. She giggled? Are you serious?
“I won’t even ask,” I said shaking my head and sitting on the small table.
“Oh Amy, Max called me and said there’s a demon hunters meeting today!” Elysia said.
“Again?” I groaned.
“Oh shit!” Mikey cursed as the smoke detector started going off. Elysia and I covered our ears, while Mikey started panicking and trying to put the small fire out, so much for the pancakes. The scream-o music, the alarm blaring, the fire, and Mikey’s freak out made for an interesting morning. Elysia started laughing so hard, and I soon joined her.

“Everyone, I will be handing out your assignments today, but first of all I would like to ask for you all to write down the dream you had last night,” John said.
After he said that, Adrian and I looked at each other. It couldn’t be… could it? I wrote my dream down, and crossed my fingers that it was just an ordinary dream. I don’t know how John knew things, but he just did. He always had information about the demons and everything we needed. He would know if this was a “psychic dream”. It probably isn’t; why am I getting worked up? After everyone wrote down their dream, they gave it to John, and he read them all to himself while everyone sat quietly. You could tell everyone was nervous. No one wanted to be the next psychics, especially after hearing that nerve-wracking prophecy. I still remember it…
The end is coming, they are growing.
There will be not one but two who will be seeing.
One will be the sacrifice, one the hero in this bidding.
Two lovers will unite and save us from this ending.
“I’ve found the psychics,” John said. Everyone held their breath nervously, anticipating what he was going to say. John had a weird expression on, like he was upset or something. I was nervous too, so I started drinking the water that was on the table.
“I’d hoped it would be one of our older hunters, but I’m sad to say it’s one of the young ones.”
John sighed and continued, “Amy and Adrian.” I spit out my water. Adrian started choking on his spit or something. My dad stood up.
“Are you sure, sir? There could be a mistake, right?” he said.
“Sit down Jack, and yes I am sure. It’ll most likely be a hard job, but it will also be an honor,” John said. Adrian’s mom stood up.
“An honor, are you joking? Isn’t there anything we can do?” she said. John shook his head and motioned for her to sit. I couldn’t speak. I saw this coming, but I was still shocked. I looked over to Adrian and his face showed that he felt the same way.
One will be the sacrifice, one the hero in this bidding.
That line kept echoing in my head. What did it mean by sacrifice? It can’t be anything that bad? Right?
“After I give everyone the info on where the next attack will be, and everyone else’s assignment, I want Amy and Adrian to come with me,” John said. I gulped. Well here we go. I have a feeling my life’s going to drastically change, but maybe I’m overreacting. I looked at Adrian and could see he was nervous as me, but he smiled for me. At least I’m not in this alone. How I love him so much. I looked at my friends and they had looks of sympathy on their faces. Well, time to be brave.

“You guys look like you’re about to pass out,” John said then chuckled nervously. Adrian and I just stared at him not talking. We were sitting on one of the tables. Everyone else had left, or was outside.
“Listen; don’t worry about this so much. I mean, all you have to do is report any visions you have or dreams that seem real. Alright?” he asked. We nodded, but we both didn’t say anything.
“You don’t have to do anything today. Go home and rest,” he said and smiled a sad smile.

I was over at Adrian’s house. My parents actually let me stay over. I think they felt bad for me or something. I crashed onto Adrian’s bed. He laid down next to me.
I sighed and asked, “What are we going to do?”
“We’re going to continue living our not so normal yet fun life,” he turned towards me smiling at me. I smiled back.
“Dude, I don’t know what I’d do without you,” I whispered.
“You would be a total mess!” he said. I rolled my eyes and smacked his arm playfully.
“I know I would,” he said seriously. I snuggled in closer to him, and closed my eyes.
“I love you,” I said. He kissed my forehead.
“I love you too,” he said.
“Wow, this is such a cheesy moment,” I said smiling.
“Yes it is, but I don’t care.”
“Ugh, I feel like kicking some demon butt,” I said.
“Wow, the only time you want to, and we have a break…” Adrian said.
“The world is cruel,” I said. I yawned.
“Do you have anything I can wear while I sleep?” We hadn’t stopped home, so I didn’t have my stuff.
“I don’t think you need to wear anything,” Adrian said smirking. I smacked his arm, and opened my mouth to reply, but Adrian interrupted me.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. That was so inappropriate! Not the best time, Adrian,” he said mimicking me. I glared at him.
“Turn that frown upside down,” he said in a squeaky voice while poking my cheek. That made me chuckle.
“Now give me something to wear,” I whined standing up.
“Ugh, fine. Gosh, girls just want everything. I mean, I sleep in boxers,” Adrian said standing up and flipping his hair.
“Sassy much?” I asked.
“I learn from the best,” he said with a smirk. I stuck my tongue out at him.
“Guurrll, stick that tongue back in your mouth or mine,” he said. I sighed.
“Oh Adrian.”
“Yes? Oh right! I need to get stuff for you to wear!” he said then walked over to the closet and pulled out a shirt. He threw the shirt at me.
“Thank you, darling,” I said blowing him a kiss. He rolled his eyes. I pulled my clothes off, and slipped on the shirt. It fit me like a mini dress.
“Beautiful,” Adrian said staring. I grinned wide at him. Maybe this isn’t such a bad day after all.

I woke up the next morning, and looked at the alarm clock on the bedside table. It was 10:32 am. Well, I doubt Adrian will wake up anytime soon, so might as well eat something. I rubbed my eyes, and stood up to go to the bathroom to pee and wash my face. I skipped down the stairs, and went to the kitchen. Hmm, what to eat? Why do I even ask? I want cereal! I looked all over the huge kitchen, but I couldn’t find any cereal. What the fudge? My stomach complained to me to get food.
“Oh hush it, you,” I said. Oh, great, now I’m talking to my stomach.
“Who are you talking to?” I looked and saw Adrian at the bottom of the stairs. Wow, he was awake already? Shocker.
“Oh I’m talking to no one really, just my stomach…”
“Well, ok then,” Adrian said looking a bit scared.
“I can’t believe you ran out of cereal,” I said pouting.
Adrian went to a cupboard and pulled out Cocoa Puffs cereal, and shook the box, while I stared bewildered.
“But I checked there!” I said.
“Well, you’re blind,” Adrian said taking out two bowls, spoons, and milk.
“Oh, now it makes sense why I’m dating you,” I said. Adrian feigned hurt.
“Ouch, you’re cranky in the mornings.”
“I’m sorry,” I said feeling bad.
“It’s ok,” he said smiling and attacked my lips. It was so unexpected, but I wasn’t complaining. While we were (cough) making out, the doorbell rang.
“Shouldn’t you answer it?” I said against his lips.
“It’s probably a sales guy or whatever. He’ll go away,” he mumbled back. However, the doorbell started ringing 50 miles an hour and they were banging on the door. Adrian groaned, and moved away from me.
“Go away!” he yelled.
“No! I want to come in! It’s me Elysia, with the gang,” she yelled back. Of course, only Elysia would choose a moment like this to come.
“We’re kind of busy right now,” Adrian said.
“Ew, what are you people doing in there?” Elysia said. I rolled my eyes. She probably does worse with Mikey…
“I’m just going to assume they’re reading books,” I heard Danni say. I rolled my eyes again.
“Yeah, Danni, that’s exactly what we would be doing,” I said sarcastically. Adrian put his hands on his hips and looked grumpy. The way he looked made me laugh.
“Ok, fine, I’m opening the door in a minute!” I yelled back at them.
“Let’s get dressed Adrian,” I said and pulled him upstairs, because I was only in a shirt, and Adrian was only in boxers.
“We’re getting impatient here!” I heard Max yell back.
