12. Of Secret Visits & Hieroglyphs

Arianne stared at herself in the full-body mirror backstage. She was kind of nervous because this wasn't a presentation nor a competition; she was the opening show for Jagged Stone. Millions of people that had never heard of her before were going to be there, and she had no idea how they would react to a violinist opening a show for a rocker.

She smoothed out her dress as she bit her lip, and Charlotte appeared behind her.

"Nervous, aren't we?" she questioned with a smile, and Arianne looked at her through the mirror.

"Of course I'm nervous!" she replied "There are over fifteen-thousand people out there who may have never heard a violin in their lives, and I'm the opening show for a rock concert. Can you blame me?"

"Aren't your friends there?" asked her teacher approaching her "That should ease your worry. They'll sure like it"

"I know that" replied Arianne, rolling her eyes a bit. Marinette and Alya were in the audience; Adrien couldn't make it, and Thiago either, but she didn't worry about them because the show would be recorded, and they would see her once it came out.

"Then don't worry so much!" assured Charlotte with a smile, and placed her hand on her shoulder "Look for them in the crowd, and you'll be fine" an announcement came on, saying that the show was starting "Are you ready?" Arianne took a deep breath, turned around, and said, with determination:

"I'm ready"

Another reason why she was nervous, was because she was playing her original song, and 'Guren No Yumiya', which had taken her hours to master.

She did as Charlotte told her, and looked for Alya and Marinette in the crowd. She spotted them after some minutes, and they smiled at her with their thumbs up. Arianne smiled back at them and took another deep breath, before starting to play 'Guren No Yumiya'. She had purposefully chosen upbeat songs so the rockers wouldn't get bored, and had specifically asked that a band made the background music.

When she finished, the crowd cheered satisfied, and Arianne couldn't help but sigh in relief. They seemed to like that one, but she didn't know if they would think the same thing about the next two songs.

The next song she was playing was a rendition of 'He's A Pirate'. She had played it before, and it never got old, because everyone seemed to like it. It was Thiago's favourite, and, when he got the chance, he always asked her to play it. Arianne included it in most of her shows or presentations.

Obviously, the audience loved it, like everyone did when they heard it, but the most anxious part was about to come: her original song. Out of all the ones she had written, she chose to play 'Awakening', because it was the most upbeat out of all of them and, frankly, Arianne loved it. She hoped that everyone would, especially the friends that would see her playing it.

And they did. The more time she played it, the more bewildered they became. Alya and Marinette were looking at her with eyes wide, and huge smiles on their faces.

"She's amazing!" whispered Alya to Marinette, and the girl nodded.

"Yeah! Look how everyone is enjoying it!" both friends looked around, and saw every single person in the audience staring at the violinist in awe as she played "Hey, there's someone up there" added Marinette, looking up at the top of the Eiffel Tower (Did I mention that the concert was outdoors, at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower?).

Alya followed her friend's gaze and saw that, indeed, there was someone up there.

"I wonder who it is" replied Alya frowning.

It was Thiago Reyes, who had found some time to come to Paris and watch her best friend's opening act. He was standing and the top of the Eiffel Tower, staring down at Arianne with a huge smile.

"She's so good" said the boy to Jazmin in his head. The quickest way he had found to travel was by turning into Tigre Blanco.

"I know!" replied Jazmin "I'm so glad we found some time, even if it's just a little bit, to hear her!" unfortunately, they couldn't stay much, because Thiago had duties in Barcelona, but he hadn't told his best friend that he had been thinking a lot about what it would be like to live in Paris lately.

What's more, he was starting to consider living there.

The next day, Arianne decided that she deserved a day for herself, without doing absolutely anything: no practice and, definitely, no homework. Everyone had enjoyed her songs, even Jagged Stone, who had asked his assistant to save Arianne's number just in case he needed her again one day.

She was currently lying on her bed, watching Attack on Titan while eating some popcorn, when her cellphone rung

"Bonjour, Thiago!" she greeted happily, pausing the episode "I was just watching that anime you told me about"

"And?!" he asked excited "What do you think?"

"It's...something" replied the girl. She was enjoying it so far, but there was a lot of violence, and Ayu couldn't look many times "What's up, my wonderful best friend?"

"You sound quite happy!" judged the boy by her tone of voice "Why wouldn't you be, though? Your show last night was amazing"

"Thanks, I—" she stopped in her tracks when his words sunk in, and Thiago smiled.

"Wait, how would you know? You weren't here"

"No, but a certain white tiger was" he said, with an amused tone. Arianne opened her eyes wide and stood up from her bed indignantly.

"What?! You were here and you didn't tell me?!"

"Sorry, I couldn't stay much, but I didn't want to miss your show"

"At least tell me you are coming to visit soon" added Arianne "That's the only way I'll forgive you not coming to see me"

"But I did come to see you" said the boy logically, making her roll her eyes.

"You know what I mean" she heard a chuckle on the other side of the line, and knew that he was messing with her.

"You'll just have to wait and see" replied Thiago mysteriously, making Arianne frown.

"What is that supposed to mean?" he chuckled.

"Nos vemos, Aria"

"What? No! Hey! Don't just hang up like that!" but it was too late, for Thiago was already gone. Arianne groaned "I don't know who's more annoying, Chat Noir or him"

"I know Chat Noir's kwami, and I can tell you that he's more annoying than both of them" replied Ayu, making the girl chuckled a bit. Ayu didn't hate Plagg, at all, he considered him very friendly, but he had his things. Like his obsession with cheese, especially with Camembert.

Her phone rang for the second time, and it was Marinette this time.

"Hey, Mari!" she greeted "How's everything going?

"Hi, Ari!" said the girl back "Everything's fine! I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out today"

"Sure!" replied the girl "I don't have any particular plans. What do you have in mind?"

"The Louvre"

"Can you believe it?" questioned Alya with excitement, as the three friends got off the bus "All I gotta do is find out who this history book belongs to and bam! I figure out Ladybug's true identity!"

The thing was that Marinette, while being Ladybug, had dropped a history book, and Alya, who had been filming the whole thing, saw that. She was planning on finding out who Ladybug was by finding out who the book belonged to, and Tikki had told Marinette that there was something in the museum that could convince her that Ladybug was not a high school student.

"You really think you can figure that out by looking at a textbook?" questioned Arianne, who was trying to protect Ladybug's identity, too "Every high school student has it, it could take you ages"

"Not exactly!" replied Alya "'Cause our school is the only school that uses that book!" she said, with a lot of enthusiasm "So all I gotta do is find out which girl in tenth grade lost her book last week! There are forty-three girls, not counting myself—"

"Forty-two!" yelled Marinette, rushing downstairs, with Arianne following behind "Not counting you, or me!"

"Or me" added Arianne "I was studying with my textbook yesterday"

"Yeah, but yesterday, somebody didn't have her text book in class" replied Alya, talking about Marinette. Arianne sighed as her friends walked a bit ahead of her.

"She's really stubborn" said the girl, looking at Ayu in her jacket pocket "If she keeps on like this, she will not only end up revealing Ladybug's identity, but Loup d'Argent's, too!"

"Weren't you the one who said that you were going to tell Chat Noir who you were just a couple of days ago?"

"Yeah, but that's different! Chat Noir is Loup's partner, Alya is Arianne's best friend"

"I know, Aria, I was just messing with you!" replied the wolf "C'mon, let's keep moving. There's something you need to see" Arianne arched her eyebrows with interest, and caught up with her friends quickly.

"So, again girl, why are we here?" questioned Alya, looking at Marinette as Arianne stood next to them "This exhibit has something to do with Ladybug? For real?" she walked around, and Marinette followed her.

"There!" said Ayu, pointing out to some old hieroglyphs. Arianne approached them curiously, and didn't understand anything.

"Okay, I'm not saying this isn't nice, but I don't understand any of these"

"You don't have to understand, you have to look!" Arianne gave him a confused glance, before looking back at the hieroglyphs.

And then, she saw it.

There was a hieroglyph of Loup d'Argent on the papyrus. She opened her eyes wide.

"Is that me?" she questioned in awe, leaning closer, with her eyes shining.

"Not just you" replied Ayu "There've been many Loup d'Argents over time, and they go back thousands of years"

"Are you saying that you are five thousand years old?" questioned Arianne jokingly, making Ayu chuckle.

"No, I'm older than that! I've watched over every Loup d'Argent since the beginning of times!"

"Well, no matter how old you are, you are still very cute" she caressed his little head with her finger, making Ayu chuckle.

Then, she heard it.

"Thoth, give me time!"

Arianne turned around, just in time to dodge an orange bubble coming her way, and hide behind a statue. There was someone that look like an Egyptian pharaoh giving her his back.

"Alya! Hide!" she heard Marinette yell, and she cocked her head to the side to see Alya filming everything.

"Alya, what do you think you are doing?!" questioned Arianne in disbelief, but the girl didn't listen to her. The Pharaoh had trapped most of the people in bubbles, like the bubbler had done some weeks ago.

Arianne got out of her hideout, and rushed to a secluded place to transform.
