Sans POV

I woke up in my bed still expecting a reset. God how many times have I done that and been right? I couldn't be bothered to count as soon as it reached 50. Yet there was still natural sunlight shining through the window. Yup, I was still on the surface. 

I got up and slipped on my hoodie. I sneak down the stairs hoping to bypass Papyrus. I got into the kitchen and everything was dark. "Huh? I honestly thought I wouldn't get this far without Papyrus coming at me." I said, a hint of surprise in my voice. Suddenly the lights turned on and a bunch of shapes leapt up from behind the table. "SURPRISE!" 8 voices yelled in unison. 

I could barely register this. "What's the surprise?" I asked. I had no clue what was going on. "IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY BROTHER!" Papyrus said at his usually loud voice. I blinked. "Umm Papyrus... How did you find that out? I never told anyone because... never mind that just tell me how you found out." I said, confused. I never told anyone what my birthday was because that was the day HE fell into the CORE. 

Papyrus smiled, "WHEN I WAS CLEANING THE HOUSE, I SAW A BIRTHDAY CARD IN STRANGE HANDWRITING. I SAW THE DATE WAS READABLE AND IT SAID IT WAS TODAY, SO I ORGANISED THE PARTY AND EVERYONE CAME!" Papyrus said. Tori, Asgore, Undyne, Alphys, Frisk, Chara as Asriel nodded in unison. Frisk came up to me and said "(*Sans,,, We were worried when we found out, but can you please stay for the party?)" She said in that begging tone that is impossible to say no to. 

I sighed, "Fine I'll stay, but if the games get to energy draining, I'm sitting out. I don't want to get tired... Down to the Bone" She smiled. Chara, Undyne and Papyrus all Cringed and Tori burst into laughter. I smiled, this is going to be a fun day.

Later that evening when everyone was asleep, I crept out. There were some things I needed to do. Somehow, we managed to build an identical house on the surface, so I walked into my lab. The machine was still there. I turned it on and a picture lit up in a compartment. It was a picture with 6 monsters in it. I opened the compartment and took the picture out. "Owel, Sprig, Reno, Val, Gaster. I will get you all ba... Wait. I can say their names?" I said, stopping in the middle of my own memorial to my old partners and boss/dad. 

I was confused. I shouldn't be able the say their names. I never could after the accident. Why now? "WHO ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT SANS? WHAT'S A SPRIG? OR A RENO? OR A VAL? OR OWEL? OR A GASTER?" a voice said. I jumped, somehow Papyrus had followed me. 

"Argh I forgot you never sleep somehow." I said, remembering that Papyrus never sleeps and somehow never gets bags under his eyes. "SANS ANSWER MY QUESTION!" Papyrus said. I clearly wouldn't be able to dodge it. It was even out of my teleportation abilities from the accident. I was cornered, and Papyrus knew it. I wouldn't be using my trump card against him either. I sighed, but before I could say anything someone knocked on the door. 

I looked at Papyrus and he looked at me. We both walked up the secret stairs and opened the door within the house. Papyrus walked to get the door, stepping over our sleeping friends. I just sat in the nearest chair. "HELLO. WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE AT THIS HOUR?" Papyrus asked whoever was at the door. "I wish to see Sans" whoever was at the door answered. Papyrus welcomed them in. I looked up in time to see a sight I would never had thought I would see any time soon. 

"Owel? What... How are you here?" I said shocked. 

Before me was a small green dinosaur. They didn't have arms but at least they were bigger than me. Last I saw them they had empty eyes and their scales were in grey. They looked at me and gave a soft chuckle when they noticed everyone on the floor. 

"I see you haven't changed a bit Sans. Well, apart from the friends and the fact everyone is on the surface, congratulations of finally acknowledging you have a birthday. But now the team needs you." She said with a serious tone. I nodded, knowing exactly what she meant, "Let me get my lab coat then." I said, getting up and opening a small compartment in the wall. 

I grabbed a white coat and put it on. Papyrus was speechless. "SANS IS THIS THE OWEL YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT EARLIER? AND WHY ARE YOU GOING AWAY IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT?" Papyrus said, I sighed and looked at Owel. "Did G say it was ok that I bring someone?" I asked her. She could tell who I was referring to, "Of course Sans. You can bring Papyrus with you to the labs. But remember, if he causes trouble our gets in the way again he has to wait outside." I smiled, "Great, Paps come here I need to teleport us there." Papyrus walked over and was about to ask why when I grabbed his hand and put my hand on Owel's back and we were there. We were at the labs where it all began. At the labs where levels got darker the deeper you got...

Darker yet Darker...
