Chapter 14

Tylee saddles Dunn, a dun colored gelding. Dan has already headed out to check the cattle on the far East side. She is heading to the Pitt pasture to move the cattle to the field just over.

"Load up Daisy!" Tylee calls after loading Dunn in the trailer. With an excited bark Daisy jumps in the cab taking the passenger seat.

Lord give me Your peace that surpasses all man's understanding. I am so anxious and worried about this weekend. I need You with me. Thank you Lord for being such a forgiving God. Tylee prays as she drives across the ranch.

When she is in the pasture she hooks the siren up. She uses it and the horn to call the cattle up riding through them to count. When she is satisfied that she counted correctly she opens the gate into the field and loads her horse. She calls Daisy to get in before getting in herself and driving through the gate calling the cattle. When the cattle are moved, the water in the field checked and gates checked it is two in the afternoon.

"I bet Teddy Bear is getting worried. I am surprised that he hasn't called." She tells Daisy as they drive back to the house. Within thirty seconds of her saying that her phone rings, Dan. She picks it up laughing.

Tylee~ Hey Teddy Bear
Dan~ What is so funny?
Tylee~ I just told Daisy that I was surprised that you hadn't called.
Dan~ Well I was cooking then I told myself to be patient.
Tylee~ Well I am on my way.
Dan~ Okay. Food is ready.
Tylee~ Okay thank you Teddy Bear.

They hang up and within a few minutes Tylee pulls up to the barn. Dan stands waiting to help her unsaddle.

"How were the Pitt cattle?" He asks using the pasture name to address the cattle.

"Good I got all of them called up and moved." She tells him leading Dunn in the barn.

"Good, I'll unsaddle you go eat." He takes the reins with a smile.

"Okay, thank you." She gives in after a few seconds. Daisy follows her to the house where she lays down on her dog bed. Tylee finds a quesadilla in the mini stove she has sitting on the counter. She puts it on a plate with chips a smile on her lips.

In a few minutes Dan comes in and sits beside her at the table. He wraps his arm around her and kisses her cheek.

"Have I told you how beautiful you are?" He whispers.

"A couple of times." She giggles as she answers.

He smiles and kisses her cheek once more. "Well I think you are the most beautiful women that ever walked the earth."

"And you are the sweetest and most handsome teddy bear that God ever created." She tells him with a loving smile.

"Can I kiss you?"

"You don't have to ask." That was all the conformation that he needed. With a smile as bright as New York at night he lets his hand slip to the back of her head and his lips capture hers. The kiss is deep and the sparks run through them both.

"Teddy Bear are you sure this was a good idea?" Tylee asks as they drive down the road headed for his parents.

"Fawn, they are going to love you. Besides they know you are coming and I have already told them a little bit about you. They all know cattle and horses so you have something in common." Dan sooths her wrapping his arm around her shoulders as she sits in the middle.

"Okay." She whispers with a deep breath. Lord I need your unexplainable peace.

"I'm not dropping you off with a whole bunch of city people. I am still going to be there and they understand ranching."

"Thank you Teddy Bear." She smiles and pets Daisy who lays in the seat beside her.

"Anytime Fawn."

"I have one request."

"Anything." He smiles as she rolls her eyes.

"No making deer jokes."

"Aw, but why they are so much fun." He laughs as she glares at him trying hard not to let her smile show.

"Because we are not at the ranch with no one to listen."

"Okay, I will try not to let them slip out." He jokes laughing at her death glare that is about as scary as a stuffed bunny rabbit.

"Stop laughing at my inability to be serious!" She declares covering her face with her hands.

"Hey, uncover those beautiful eyes so I don't have to pull over and uncover them myself." He tells her chuckling.

"No! I can't be serious." She giggles still hiding behind her hands.

"So? I need to see your heart stopping eyes." While giggling she moves her hands and turns to face him. "That is so much better."

"You're so sweet, Teddy Bear." She whispers kissing his cheek. He smiles and drapes his arm around her shoulders. She falls asleep with her head on his shoulder.

"Home town." Dan mutters as he directs the pickup along the Main Street. "Ty fawn we are almost there."

Tylee raises her head and rubs the sleep from her eyes. She gives Dan a small smile.

"It will all be fine, Fawn." He assures. She nods nervously with a silent prayer.

Lord I need Your peace and strength. Thank you for placing Dan in my life.

"We are officially here." Dan announces as a two story rock house with a porch wrapping all the way around comes into view. On the porch near the front door are two rocking chairs that have seen better days as Dan's dad would say. "What do you think?"

"It is beautiful. Is this where you grew up?" Tylee draws her eyes from the house to look into his.

"No Mom and Dad got this place when I was 18."

Inside Dan's mom Katherine lectures his siblings.

"Don't be obnoxious and overwhelm her. Dan has found someone we are not running her off!" She declares making Sam his dad laugh.

"Sweetheart, calm down. You have told us all what we should do multiple times." He tells her with a chuckle. She smiles with a sigh as the front door opens and in walks Dan with a very timid Tylee.

"Hey Dan! I haven't seen you in like forever!" Greg his little brother yells earning a glare from Katherine.

"Good to see you too Greg. Everyone this is Tylee Jackson. Tylee this is my mafia family." Tylee laughs nervously with a shy 'hello'  "My mom Katherine, my dad Sam, sister Susan, and little brother Greg."

"Alright Greg, bags." Sam instructs moving towards the door.

"That's alright I can get them." Tylee announces, but her voice is so soft only Dan hears her.

"It's alright Fawn, let them." He whispers with a smile. She smiles a small one and kisses his cheek forgetting where they are. He chuckles and wraps his arms around her.

"Hey, no PDA Dan!" Susan declares before scurrying up the stairs. Tylee turns scarlet and hides her face in Dan's shoulder. He laughs and tightens his arms around her.

"Shut up Susan!" He yells up the stairs. "I love you little Fawn."

"I love you too, Teddy Bear." She whispers as his dad and brother walk in.

"OOh-" Greg starts, but changes his course when Sam kicks him in the back of his leg. "I love the horses on your duffel, Tylee."

"Thank you." Tylee timidly answers.

"Anytime. Your room Dan?"

"Yeah, thanks Dad, Greg." He nods in the direction of his stair ascending brother. "Want to go see the horses?"

"Of course." He smiles and takes her hand. They walk outside getting Daisy on the way. She trots a head sniffing everything out everything new. Dan opens the gate allowing Tylee to go through first. Three horses trot up looking for a bite to eat.

"This is Cline." He introduces a paint mare as Tylee rubs the horse's muzzle.

"She's beautiful." She murmurs with a smile.

"She is, she is our brood mare."

Glancing at him with a confused expression she asserts, "You didn't tell me that your family breeds horses."

"It must have slipped my mind." He shrugs smirking.

"Right." She shakes her head moving to the sorrel gelding standing next to Cline. "Who's this?"

"That's Crank. Because he is always so cranky." He adds when she gives him a puzzled expression.

He introduced her to the remaining horses before leading her to the house.

"Teddy Bear, I'm nervous." She whispers.

"What are you nervous about? You have the hard part over with."

"I don't know..... That I'm going to say something wrong." She murmurs as his arm snakes around her waist.

"You aren't going to say anything wrong, Fawn. Just be yourself because then nobody can tell you that you are doing it wrong."
