Chapter 13

"Thank you Bill." Tylee tells the old gentlemen.

"Anytime. I'm glad that you are going." He chuckles at her sigh.

"I'm just have to block out the thoughts or I get anxious." She smiles small.

"It will be good for you to get out. You haven't been on a 'vacation' since Ben passed away." Bill smiles at her with a knowingness that her Papaw had given her more than once.

"I know I guess that's part of what makes this so hard." She sighs at the pressure she puts on her self.

"I'll be praying." He tells her with a comforting smile.

"Thank you." She murmurs.

"So when do y'all leave?"

"We leave on Friday and will be back on Sunday morning or Saturday night."

"Takes your time. And don't worry about the ranch. You are just like your Papaw, a home body and your ranch is your baby." He smiles at her.

"I learned it well as he always said." She smiles at the memories of her Papaw always telling her that she was bred with it.

"Speaking of the weasel where is Dan?" Tylee laughs at Bill's random question.

"Papaw did that too. He would randomly say that we were talking about someone or thing when the name hadn't been mentioned. Dan is in the Green field checking cattle."

"Ah got the boyfriend working." He grins. "Yes, I heard. Becca told me the day you told her."

"Should have known that once Becca knew the whole town would know." She mutters with a shake of her head.

"He's a good guy. Good for you too."

"He is." She replies with a wide and happy smile. As they come to the exit of the barn Dan drives up.

"Hey Dan!" Bill calls as he walks to meet him.

"How are you, Bill?" Dan shakes the older gentlemen's hand with his usual bright smile. As Tylee walks up beside him he wraps his arm around her and kisses the top of her head. Bill raises his eyebrows in a teasing manner.

"Been a long five hours with out her." Dan asserts with a shrug as if to excuse his displaying of affection. Bill chuckles and smiles giving Dan a unspoken 'she's good for you as you are her' lecture. Dan gives him the 'best thing that ever happen to me' look.

"Are you two having fun with your unspoken conversation?" Tylee interrupts the 'look conversation'.

"Conversation? What conversation?" Dan fakes confusion.

"I'm not dumb." She states while Bill laughs at them.

"I never said you were." He kisses the top of her head again before she lays her head on his shoulder.

"Well I think I will let you two get ready to head out in a day or so." Bill declares making Tylee blush and Dan laugh.

"Alright, thanks for looking after things. Drive safe." Dan tells him shaking his hand.

"Will do. Y'all have a good time and don't worry." He looks Tylee in the eyes as he says the last line. She nods and hugs him.

"Thank you."

"Anytime." Bill gets in his pickup and heads back to his place on the edge of town. Tylee and Dan walk to her house holding hands with Daisy trailing behind.

"Cattle were all good and those two baby calves we had in the pen the past couple of weeks are doing great." He reports as they wait on the coffee to make.

"Good I was a little worried since it has been so cold."

"I think they are out doing the others their age."

"Aw little overachievers." Tylee murmurs and the coffee finishes. Dan chuckles and pours them each a cup full. They sit down at the table to warm up with the hot drink.

"So what am I suppose to wear to the Valentine get together? I don't have anything except button ups and jeans." She asks the nervousness evident in her voice.

"We are all dressed in our everyday attire." He assures her. She smiles and takes a sip of coffee.

After their coffee mugs are empty they head back outside to break the horses water.

"Hey Teddy Bear, I am going to ride out to the Grace field and check those cattle." Tylee announces taking Willow Wind's bridle in her hand.

"Okay. Be safe my Fawn." Dan wraps his arms around her and kisses her.

"I will Teddy Bear." Tylee catches Wind and saddles her. With her medicine bag in her saddle bag she kisses Dan once more before he hands a sack of cattle cake up to her. At the field she calls the cattle up and strings the cake out. With the sack empty rides through them counting the cows and calves.

"One new little bull calf." She tells Wind the horse bobs her head as if in agreement. After counting one last time and finding everyone present she rides towards the barn. She unsaddles with a smile as the axe on wood sound meets her ears. When Willow Wind is unsaddles and brushed off Tylee leads her out of the barn and to the pasture.

"Thank you Teddy Bear." She announces her presents as she wraps her arms around his torso from behind him.

"Anything for you Fawn." He turns around to face her putting his lips on hers. "How where the cows?"

"Good there is a new bull calf on the ground." She tells him with a smile.

"That's great! How many does that make?"

"I stopped counting." She grins at his 'you?!' look.

"Trust me I stopped before the heifers where done." He tells her sheepishly. "Oh and I found a path of fence down in the corner of the horse pasture while you were gone. I didn't know if you wanted to string new wire or salvage what is there."

"I don't know let's go look at it." He takes her hand in his and they follow a excited Daisy to her pickup that has all the fencing supplies already loaded. "Did you do that?"

"No it was a little elephant." She laughs as he opens the passenger side door for her. He gets in on the drivers side after letting Daisy in. He drives to the south corner where he kills the engine and hops out to open her door. She beats him to it with a sheepish grin.

"You are so difficult." He complains with a smile. She grins and lays her head on his shoulder. They  walk to fence where Tylee evaluates the damage to the fence.

"I think we can just use that wire. Looks like the wire just broke right there." They get the fence stretcher and stay wire out of the back of her pickup.

When the fence is back up Dan, Tylee and Daisy load in the pickup cab.

"Hey Fawn, movie night?"

"Uh, if we are leaving in a day then I need to pack so that tomorrow I can get everything moved around easier for Bill." She explains.

"Oh."

"We can have supper." She offers.

"Okay but I get to cook." His smile returns.

"Fine." Dan laughs at the way she fakes giving in.

"You know you love it when I cook."

"Of course I just have to put up some sort of fight." He laughs and shakes his head as they pull back up to the barn. They unload the supplies and put them up before walking to the house.

"I am going to my room to pack."

"Okay I will begin creating the most amazing meal you can ever imagine." Dan asserts  dramatically.

"Okay you dork." Tylee laughs.

"Hey! I'm not a dork. I thought I was a teddy bear."

"You are my Teddy Bear you just have a tendency to act like a dork." She kisses his cheek with a smile.

"Okay Fawn." He smiles and kisses her soundly before she goes upstairs.

Tylee climbs the stairs and goes to her room. She pulls out the duffel bag that she had made with her Granna. It has her name on it and the fabric has horses all over it.

Jeans, shirts, socks, undergarments and pajamas are packed and ready to go. Just needing the toiletries. Tylee grabs her hair brush and a few extra hair bands and places them in the side pocket. She slips her bible in the other side pocket before zipping them all up.

"Food is ready Fawn." Dan announces from the door way.

"Okay Teddy Bear." She wraps her arms around his neck. His hands find their way to her hips where they rest. He places his lips on her in a gentle kiss.

After they finish eating Dan helps her wash and put up the dishes.

"See you in the morning Fawn."

"Alright Teddy Bear. I love you."

"I love you too Fawn."
