Chapter 12
"Teddy Bear!" Tylee declares as a snow ball hits her back. Dan convinced her to take the day off and have fun. She finally agreed. After all they had been working 24/7 for the past two weeks.
"Fawn!" Dan mocks her. She sticks her tongue at him before throwing a snow ball. She doubles over in laughter as it hits him smack dab in the middle of his face. He sputters and wipes it away with a smirk on his face. Before she knows what is happening Tylee is swept off her feet and thrown face first in the snow. She shrieks and rolls over glaring at Dan.
"Oh no you didn't!" She exclaims jumping up and running at him. She ducks her head so that she hits his knees knocking him over and into a face full of snow.
"Oh no! You have to come down here to!" Dan declares grabbing her gloved hand as she straighten herself pulling her into the snow beside him.
"You have snow in your hair under you hat." She tells him slipping her hand in his.
"I know, thanks to you." He moves a piece of hair that had fallen across her face. A giggle escapes her lips as they curl into a satisfied smile.
"I was just cooling you off." He rolls his eyes at her.
"You are a beautiful complicated women." He tells her before placing his lips on hers. After her mind realizes what is happening she kisses back. They pull away smiles wide. Her first kiss there laying in the snow with the man she had fell in love with.
"I love you." She whispers before forgetting everything and placing her lips back on his.
"I love you more." He tells her after they pull away breathless. Taking her hand he helps her up after standing himself. "You know I don't think you have social anxiety like Becca claims."
"Not with you. You are one very amazing person that I have gotten to know and love. Not a whole bunch of random people I don't know." She explains as they walk to her house.
"I am glad that you aren't a turtle in your shell anymore." His arm around her waist they enter the house and shed their coats. Tylee sits down in her leather recliner and flips on the radio. Dan comes in from brushing the snow off his hat and picks her up.
"Hey!" She declares out of surprise.
"'Hey' yourself. I'm just sitting down with you in my lap." He tells her with a chuckle. She smiles and lays her head on his chest. "I love you Fawn."
"I love you too, Teddy Bear." He places his lips on hers.
"I know it is still a few weeks away but will you come with me to my parents for our Valentine get together? It is the weekend before Valentine." He asks her and kisses her temple.
"Uh, I guess so." She tells him the anxiety evident in her voice.
"They will love you, don't worry." He reassures her with a kiss.
"Wait that's like next weekend."
"Yeah I guess so."
"Okay I will see if I can get a hold of Bill. I will ask him if he can come check waters for us." Dan liked the way she said 'us' rather then 'me'. "Where do they live?"
"They live in Fort Supply. It is about a hour or an hour and a half depending on how you go." He tells her.
"Oh. Are your siblings going to be there?" He knew she was asking the question for more than one reason.
"Yes, but don't think about it. Okay? I won't leave you by yourself and will make sure that, as long as you want me to, that you are right beside me."
"You are so sweet." She tells him with a small smile.
"Just keeping my Fawn close." He tells her straight faced.
"Stop making deer jokes." She scolds before kissing him softly. He slips his hand to the back of her head gently pulling her closer. He deepens the kiss before pulling away absolutely breathless.
"Sorry I just had to do it. Besides if I get kisses I will do it all the time."
"You better not you goof." She rolls her eyes as he chuckles. "Teddy Bear, do you want to go on a ride?"
"I would love to ride with you under one condition. No working."
"No worries with what I am thinking it wouldn't be that easy to work any ways." She tells him with a mischievous grin.
"What are thinking up?" He kisses her temple.
"You will have to see in the barn." The mischievous glisten in her eye gets him curious as she gets off his lap. He follows her to the mud room where they don their coats and hats. Daisy follows them to the barn where Tylee walks to the tack room.
"Close your eyes." She instructs.
"What are you doing?"
"Just close your eyes and stay in here." He sighs with a smile and closes his eyes. She grabs two halters and heads out to the pasture. She catches Perk and Glory with a satisfied and mischievous smile. She walks them back to the barn.
"Now which one do you want?" Dan's eyes pop open. His mouth hangs agape.
"You aren't serious!"
"Of course I am serious. I broke them to ride my self so I know that they are safe. Now, which one to you choose to ride?"
"Perk I guess." He tells her with a smile and simple shrug.
"Cool grab a brush." He gets one and hands her one. After brushing them Tylee directs him to the special made saddles. Using the barn step ladder they each get the saddles on the horses backs and cinched up just right. Tylee gives Dan a huge bridle keeping one to put on Glory.
"Now mount flat footed." Tylee instructs managing to hide her smirk.
"I am not a gymnast!" Dan declares.
"I'm kidding you can use the step stool." She laughs at his horrified face.
"Please don't tell me that you can get on flat footed."
"I can, but I try to avoid doing so." She tells him as he steps onto the ladder and climbs the three steps. He slips his left foot in the stirrup and swings his other leg over settling himself in the saddle. Tylee leads Glory up to the ladder and adjusts it before sticking her foot in the stirrup and following Dan's lead. They ride out of the barn side by side with Daisy trailing the gentle giants.
"So you really saddle broke both of them?" Dan asks as they ride in the direction of the nearest dirt tank.
"Yeah I did it a year after we got them. I got bored that summer so I just decided to ride the giants." She gives him a shrug.
"Interesting, but how did you possible get bored here?"
"Believe it or not Papaw and I had somehow stayed ahead of everything that year so there wasn't constantly a list of things waiting to be done. I had had about a week off and so I had already swam in the tanks and all that." She tells him blushing when she mentions swimming.
"Well I have to say that you did a very good job, Fawn."
Thank you for sending me such a loving and fun guy! Tylee silently prays with a wide smile.
"Thank you Teddy Bear. Have you ever seen a frosted dirt tank?"
"No. What in fact is a 'frosted dirt tank'?" He asks gazing at her with a happily puzzled look.
"A dirt tank that has a very thin layer of ice covered by snow. This one should be like that." She tells him with a excited smile. They ride through the small covering of trees that provide shade to the tank in the summer. Their breath catches in their throats as the ice and snow covered water meet their eyes
"It is so beautiful." Dan murmurs glancing at Tylee who has admiration filling her eyes.
"It is gorgeous." She whispers. Although she comes and sees the view every time it snows and ices over it still amazes her.
"Goes to show God is a loving God."
"Yes. Too bad pictures don't do His creation justice."
"It is too bad." He moves Perk close enough to Glory that he can wrap his arm around Tylee's waist. She smiles at him and lays her head on his should making her lean off to one side a little.
"It's too bad I didn't wait to kiss for the first here." Dan comments. In response Tylee places her lips on his.
"It would have romantic, but this is just as romantic." She tells him. He smiles and pulls her in for another long and sweet kiss.
