Chapter 15
Lukas' POV
Olivia and I stand in the last empty spot, trying to figure out which idea to go with.
"We should build something cool!" I state, making her shake her head.
"No. This competition is not about cool. Its about function." She says stubbornly, crossing her arms.
I narrow my eyes, thinking back to the building competition.
I almost want to remind her who won, but I keep my mouth shut.
If I want any chance at being their friends, I need to keep my cool.
"Alright. I've got an idea. Instead of just cool or just functional, we build something that's both." I suggest, making her raise an eyebrow.
"Go on." She urges, making my eyes light up in excitement.
Yes! She liked my idea!
"Alright. So, you wanted to build a cannon that shoots out different items that you could need for different things right?" I ask, making her nod.
The inner builder inside me begins to show as I picture where every block could be placed.
Every color.
Ever turn.
"Once we build that, on top we make it look like an old school cannon like on one of those huge ship builds." I say, making her eyes widen.
"Yeah! And then we could have the buttons and stuff in the front that control the different items, which will shoot out the top like a fire ball, and land in front of the user!" She exclaims, making me smile brightly.
She smiles back, trying to avoid my eyes.
I couldn't understand why, but I wasn't about to ask.
I might want her to be my friend, but she wasn't yet, and I knew that I had no business asking.
"Alright. Let's start building." I say, resting my hand on her shoulder.
She nods, taking out as much Redstone she has and a bunch of random blocks that nearly matter since we won't see them.
She hands me half, making us stand side by side.
"Alright. So, its sun high now, and we have until sun down to finish." She states, making me nod.
She has a small smirk on her face as she holds up her Redstone, making the sun's beams shine through and light her face.
"Let's build!" She shouts, making both of us take off.
We build almost as if we had a speed potion.
Blocks were placed as face as lightning strikes the earth, and by the time the sun was halfway to the horizon from above our heads, the Redstone was done.
We land on the ground, only taking slight damage.
"Wow. I'm glad someone is here with me. This would have taken longer alone." She states, pulling some blocks for the outer design out from a chest.
I take half, smiling brightly.
"I'm glad I came. This is a lot of fun. The Ocelots never do anything like this, you know, joking around, listening to each other thing." I confess, making her stop going through the chest.
She turns to me, letting the lid slam closed.
She rests her hands on my shoulders, looking concerned.
"You know Luaks, if the Ocelots are that bad, you don't have to stay with them." She says, sounding serious.
The idea sent my mind reeling.
Ditch the ocelots?
We walk over to the base, beginning the outer build.
"Why would I do that?" I ask as we start building, slightly slower than before.
She sighs, jumping up a block to place one beneath her.
"Because Luaks. That group of so called friends, don't seem to act like friends. And if you really don't like it with them, then just leave. You're better off without them." She says, continuing the build with the coal blocks.
I sigh, building up the sides.
"I'm not sure if I want to do that. I mean, they've been my friends since I was little." I state, making her stop me.
"And remember before that Lukas?" She asks, making me tilt my head slightly.
I didn't really remember much from when I was little.
"You used to hang with Petra, Axle and I. Then you met Aiden and things changed." She dtaes, building the top of the cannon above me so I know where to stop.
I continue to build, thinking over what she just said.
It was true, I did remember being good friends with the others, but I don't remember why I left.
"Maybe you're right..." I trail, making her smile lightly.
We continue to build in silence as the sun moves down the sky, not continuing the conversation.
But as the build nears its finish, I can't help it.
"Olivia, would the group paccept me back if I did pull back from the ocelots after all this?" I ask timidly, not sure how she will answer.
We jump to the ground, making her start setting up buttons.
"Lukas, I'm going to be honest with you." She states, labeling the buttons.
I cringe, waiting for her to start the rampage on my feelings.
"We would be happy to have you back." She states, surprising me.
I look to her in shock.
She smiles, her cheeks slightly red as always.
Olivia was one of the kindest people I know, and honestly, that never changed, even after all this time.
She smiles, looking up at the build.
"Well Mr.Ocelot. I think we are done." She teases, making my smile grow.
We stare up at the build proudly.
"Now we just need to hope that Ellegaurd picks ours." Olivia mutters nervously, making me pat her on the back.
She looks over at me.
"Even if she doesn't, when she comes over, we are going to give her one hell of a presentation." I say happily, making her laugh.
She looks over at me.
"You know Lukas, your still lthe good guy I knew all those years ago." She states, making my smile drop slightly.
The comment was strange, but it made me feel warm inside.
For once, maybe I actually had a true friend.
....
Well. I just found my new shipping. Sorry Axle. Anyway. I hope you guys liked the chapter I threw together in a matter of minuets. Now, don't hate me because you didn't get to see what happened to the others! I promise you will see it soon! Hopefully they aren't dead! *wink* okay! See you all later!
