When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful,
Every hour we spent together, lives within my heart
When she loved me.

Prussia's hands shook slightly as he brought the journal out from under his bed. He knew what was inside, and he didn't want to look. But he did anyway. He flipped through the pages, which contained diary entries, sketches, and love notes. His fingers hovered over a drawing of Hungary he had completed so many centuries ago. She was sitting under their oak tree, her head thrown back in mid-laughter. Prussia knew the sketch didn't do justice to Hungary's beauty and the life she held in her eyes, but he could feel tears threatening to spill down his cheeks. More sketches of Hungary followed, each making him more upset than the last.

Prussia nearly lost it when he reached the first love note. It was written in delicate, thin writing. Hungary's handwriting.

Dear Gilbert,

It seems so strange that we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary as a couple. I feel like it was just yesterday that you were the bold, handsome knight returning from a war and sweeping me off me feet. Literally. Prussia chuckled slightly at that despite himself before continuing to read. Gil, I keep thinking about all the times that we have been together, days have been like magic, for your are like this beautiful creature that stepped out from a fairytale and made all my dreams and wishes come true. I cannot think of a better person to have by my side and I am proud that you chose me to be with, out of all the pretty women in the world. Love is something that I never truly understood till the moment I met you and now I know that I am blessed to be with you. I love you with all my heart Gilbert. Never, ever change.

Forever Yours,

Eliza

"What happened to forever...?" Prussia whispered. But he knew the answer. For him, there was no such thing as "forever."
